We are pleased to present this 2001 BMW E36/8 M Coupe finished in Black Sapphire Metallic over a black Nappa leather interior. One of the most coveted M-cars of all time, the E36/8 M Coupe was offered as a high-performance version of the standard Z3 featuring an M3-derived straight-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A total of 678 examples produced for North America were equipped with the S54 engine from the E46 M3, and only 120 were reportedly finished in Black Sapphire Metallic. This 3-owner 2001 example remains true to its original specifications and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 22,825 miles showing on the odometer.
This M Coupe is finished in Black Sapphire Metallic (475) with high-gloss Shadowline black exterior trim, a glass sunroof, and a roof-mounted antenna. The M Coupe can be differentiated from a standard Z3 by its revised front bumper, widened rear fenders, rounded side mirrors, side air vents, and signature M-Power quad exhaust tips. Detailed photos are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This M Coupe rides on factory forged 17" Style 40 wheels dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 tires.
Inside, this E36/8 is appointed with full black Nappa leather upholstery extending to the upper door panels and center console. Factory features include a leather-wrapped M-Sport steering wheel with M tri-color stitching, heated and power-adjustable bolstered sport seats, M-branded floor mats, M-branded door sills guards, and chrome-trimmed instrumentation in the gauge cluster and center stack. Driver’s amenities include power windows and locks, automatic climate control, a Harman Kardon audio system, a BMW Business CD stereo, and a trunk-mounted CD changer. A carbon-fiber handbrake cover was added by a previous owner, and the cabin is described to be in otherwise excellent original condition with only minor wear noted on the driver’s seat.
This M Coupe is one of only 678 North American examples factory-equipped with the 3.2L S54 inline-six engine used in the E46 M3. It produces up to 315 HP and 252 lb.-ft of torque and drives the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transmission and mechanically locking limited-slip differential. Compared to a standard Z3, the M Coupe is factory fitted with a firmer suspension, thicker sway bars, more robust semi-trailing arms, and a strengthened rear subframe. The CARFAX report shows 15 service records from new, including dealership and specialty shop maintenance. In 2020, this M Coupe received a new battery, camshaft sensor, and a full maintenance inspection.
This sale will include a clean title. Now is your chance to own an increasingly sought-after BMW M Coupe with the rare S54 engine and Black Sapphire Metallic paint, do not miss out.

@seller, Do you know if the car has had any differential mount or subframe failure issues?
Do you know if there is any evidence of misalignment of rod bearings on the crank shaft causing the crankshaft to move out of alignment?

@ChequeredFlag Got it, thanks
Any chance of getting undercarriage pics in the next 2 days?
@biggreasytaco Unfortunately we don't have the service records, only what is stated on Carfax.
Do any of the actual service records exist and accompany the sale, or only the entries on carfax? Any indication valve adjustment / Inspection 1 being completed, or preventative vanos work?

Also want to mention that it is original paint - sorry that isn't mentioned. I cant say if thats PCar or we dropped the ball. In any event will be corrected by Monday
We have them, not sure why they didn't make it to the listing. We'll get them up asap but may not be till Monday.
Any chance @seller can provide paint meter readings?
Thanks
