Among BMW’s lowest volume production cars ever, a total of 678 U.S. specification S54-equipped M Coupes were produced featuring a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. This example is one of only 51 finished in Estoril Blue over Estoril Blue & Black Nappa leather and of those, one of 38 to have been equipped with a sunroof. Modified with a Dinan Stage 1 tune, this M Coupe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado with approximately 88k miles showing on the odometer.
Designed to increase the torsional and structural rigidity of the Z3 roadster’s chassis, the M Coupe only borrows the body panels ahead of the A-pillars. However, it can be distinguished from the standard Z3 by its revised front fascia, widened rear fenders, and side air vents. This example comes finished in Estoril Blue (335) and features a sunroof, replacement black kidney grilles, and added magnetic stone guards, and rear wheel spacers. It rides on refinished 17” Style 40 wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2023. The seller notes the hood and front bumper were refinished and the roof was touched up by the professionals at Eurocars Collision in Colorado. A carbon-printed wrap was also applied to the roof and the seller recommends refinishing the area. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin offers Estoril Blue and Black Nappa leather (Q6ES) upholstery. Equipment includes power-adjustable heated sport seats, a leather-wrapped M steering wheel, air conditioning, cruise control, a BMW Business CD stereo, a trunk-mounted CD changer, and a Harmon Kardon sound system. New floor mats have been added, and modifications include a ZHP shift knob and a LeatherZ Mark 1 armrest with Homelink. The seller notes some scuffing on the seat bolsters near the seatbelts and the rearview mirror was refinished to restore the auto-dimming capability.
The 3.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine sends 315 HP stock to the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transaxle with a factory-equipped limited-slip differential (3.15) allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. Compared to the standard Z3, the M Coupe is equipped with a firmer suspension, thicker anti-roll bars, more robust semi-trailing arms, and a strengthened subframe. The seller adds that a Dinan Stage 1 tune was installed under previous ownership. The CARFAX report shows a total of 20 service history entries while other noteworthy service and modifications are said to include the following:
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, an air pump, and sales literature.
The seller would like you to know: “This car is absolutely beautiful. It looks amazing and drives like a dream! This is your chance to own arguably one of the best M cars ever produced, in the best color combination! This is a car that you can truly consider as an investment; it is almost certain to increase in value! I wish I could keep it.”

@Reincar Thanks!!
If it's any help, I live in Colorado Springs and have seen this car in person. If I wasn't sitting on 16 cars myself, This would be the one! To say it is perfect understates the car. Flawless might be a better term for it. If you are looking for probably the best M Coupe for sale today, this is it! It's that simple. Bid price is too low right now but it usually costs a little more to buy the best example of any collectible car out there. Having multiple E Types and Porsches, I know this to be true. Don't let this one get away if you like blue.... THIS IS THE CAR!!!
Coming down to the final stretch. Good luck everyone!

@JOSEJUAN I believe it’s a software remapping. Bumps up torque and horsepower and changes associated curves.
What does the Dinan Stage 1 modification include?

@syncroadventure It looks like the screen shots I took are legible. So, unless you want me to, I won't bother uploading the pdf's.
@gsteeger Cool! That is awesome
@syncroadventure I just uploaded 2 screenshots of the history. I'll upload the full pdfs when I figure out how to.

@syncroadventure Good news: I got the full warranty service from my local BMW dealership. I'll attach it here in just a minute. It shows rod bearings getting replaced in November 2001, at 4,677 miles.
@gsteeger Let us know what you hear from the dealership. Thanks
@syncroadventure I just added a photo of the some of the service records that I currently have. I'll let you know when I hear back from the dealership.

@syncroadventure Unfortunately, when I bought the car from a dealer in Miami, I did not get all the service records from the previous owner.
My local BMW dealership told me about the rod bearings being done and some other service they could see. I e-mailed the dealership this morning to see if I could get a printout of the work that was done, at BMW dealerships, prior to my ownership.
I do have paperwork for all the work I've had done since purchasing the car.
@gsteeger A couple other questions. Do you have documentation of the connecting rod bearing replacement noted in your description. Also, in searching the VIN I found a previous BAT auction for this car. In that auction there was a couple folders worth of service history. Do you have all of those service receipts still? Thank You
Bid in the amount of $4,250
@gsteeger Thank You
@syncroadventure Sorry for the typo, it should say “I also had the roof touched up due to rock chips.”
@syncroadventure Sure.
The car has not been in any accidents.
I repainted the hood and front bumper due to rock chips. I also had the roof touched, due to rock chips. The touch up on the roof was a temporary solution. I am very particular and wanted this car to look brand new so I planned on getting the roof fully repainted in the future.
All the paint work was done by the best paint shop in town and by a painter that specializes in M colors, especially Estoril. The shop used to the collision center for the local BMW dealer. I have all the associated paperwork.
Can you please comment on the repaint of the front bumper, hood and roof?
Perfect! Thank you
@Oddestball I just added in the photos you requested (under the trunk insulation). See images 116-120. Let me know if you have additional questions and thanks for your interest.

@Oddestball @Oddestball, good morning. I’ll see if I can get a couple pictures under the trunk insulation, without tearing it up.
77,78,79
@Oddestball can you be more specific? What photo are you referring to? Are you referring to the insulation in the trunk?
Thank you, but the cracked plastic cover is impeding the view.
@Oddestball see photos 73-81 and 89-95
Is this where I ask for the photos we all need to see? Rear subframe mounts in the trunk area under the plastic tool tray and carpet as well as the diff mounts under the vehicle please.
@PT997 Well that's a silly reason to not buy a car :).
@gsteeger I would love to, but I’m not looking to buy anything just yet. Just auctioned off my 997 911 a few months ago on PCAR. Really love your car though! GLWTS
@PT997 Want to come see it in person?
This is one of my favorite cars! And I always refer to it as a Clown Shoe as you did in your opening comment! Love it! And you’re only an hour south of me. Very tempting.
