Available for auction is this 2001 BMW E39 M5 finished in Carbon Black Metallic over a Caramel Nappa leather interior. The third-generation BMW M5 is consistently hailed as one of the best-driving executive sedans of all time and was the fastest sedan in the world upon its debut in 2000. Featuring a 6-speed manual transmission and accompanied by records showing over $15k invested in service, this three-owner 2001 example is now being offered for out of Tennessee showing approximately 71k miles on the odometer.

This E39 wears Carbon Black Metallic paint and sits on its original 18" Style 65 wheels shod in Michelin tires at all four corners. Additional features include fog lights, quad exhaust outlets, a glass moonroof, and xenon headlights. The hood is said to have been previously refinished to address rock chips, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Caramel Nappa leather and features M5-badged door sills, an M-branded gear shift lever, and an M Sport multifunction leather-wrapped steering wheel. Amenities include power-adjustable and heated seats with memory function, automatic climate control, and a factory navigation system.

A 4.9-liter naturally aspirated S62 V8 engine drives the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It develops up to 394 HP and 369 pound-feet of torque, generating an originally quoted 0-60 time of under 5 seconds. An upgraded Dinan exhaust system has been installed and a collection of service records is provided for reference in the gallery.

The sale of this BMW M5 will include two keys, a clean title, and factory literature.

But you are correct, the service records on 129-131 are for a different VIN car.

@Bulletproofauto these cars don't need timing chain guides.

Great looking car! Are you able to provide photos of the fuel filler area, trunk latch, jack points or any other under car photos? Looking to get a sense for whether any corrosion is present given it was used in the Northeast. Thanks in advance.

@nealf2002 I sourced the car for the last owner and took it back on trade. There was a PPI done a little over a year ago and everything noted was addressed. In addition there was almost 10k worth of service done 3500 miles ago, documentation attached. If you have specific questions I'll do my best to answer them but the only things I can say for sure are the things I have done. This car is sorted and ready to be enjoyed, that really shouldn't be up for debate given the 15kish worth of service that has been done in the last 4k miles. If anything it should give confidence that so many things have been addressed recently.

  • Bulletproofauto (registered bidder) 2 yearsago

Hi do you know if the timing chains/guides have been replaced on the car? Also invoices appearing in photos 129,130 and 131 are for a newer M5. Thanks
