Now up for auction is this 2000 Porsche 986 Boxster finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue interior. Showcasing an attractive color combination as well as a mid-mounted flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, this 2000 986 Boxster presents an incredible value for any Porsche enthusiast. Having undergone a recent full service and water pump replacement, it is now being offered by its seller in North Carolina with approximately 79k miles shown on the odometer.
The Arctic Silver Metallic finish is reported to be in very good condition with only a few minor imperfections (images are provided in the photo gallery). The front bumper is said to have been professionally refinished to address some road-going wear and the seller notes that the cabriolet top was replaced within the last 5 years. Factory 17” twist wheels are equipped which come dressed in healthy Kumho tires.
Inside, the Metropol Blue interior is said to be in good shape with some wear noted on the driver’s seat bolster. The cabin remains stock in its configuration with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional. Factory features include a CDR-31 Porsche sound system, cruise control, onboard computer, heated seats, traction control, a wind deflector, a CD storage compartment and a storage box for the engine area.
This 986 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.7 L flat-six engine which is rated at 217 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission which allows for a 0-60 time of approximately 6 seconds and a top speed north of 150 MPH. All routine maintenance is said to be up to date including an A/C compressor replacement in 2018 as well as a new water pump and full service in 2019. Some maintenance records will be included, and this Boxster is said to be in great driving condition.
This sale will be accompanied by a set of 2 keys, 1 valet key, all original books and tools, some service records, a car cover and Porsche wind deflector. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or a Porsche novice, this 5-speed Boxster makes an excellent choice.

@spatrol The seller has informed PCARMARKET that they are currently traveling and unable to access the vehicle at this moment. If you have any other questions please let PCARMARKET know and we will reach out to the seller. Thank you.
Is it possible to post close up pictures of the driver seat and, specifically, the seams of the bolster on the door side as well as other seams? Thank you.

@twallc4 my age and scars on my knees make getting out of the car somewhat hard and comical to do. Getting in is easy.
@twallc4 I find it hard to believe that a clutch would last 79,000 miles. My comment was that one has not been installed during my ownership.
@twallc4 the piece of pipe looks to be rubber and it appears to come from the water pump. The new water pump was installed last year. Don’t know why they would use a spring clamp.
I’m always interested in why are you selling this car?
Other comment was about your photo # 52.
So to your knowledge it’s the original clutch.
Do you know what looks like black PVC pipe and spring clamp are, they don’t look like Porsche parts. Were they put in when the water pump was done?
@twallc4 there has been no clutch replacement during my ownership. I purchased the car in 2014 and have put about 13,000 miles. As of today, it does not need a clutch replacement.
How many miles were on the car when the new clutch was insatalled?

@larrylewis46 air conditioner condenser
I have given you all the pertinent information I have. As you can see in the Car Fax I purchased the car with 65,500 miles on it and today it has 79, 300. It has not missed a beat. A new water pump here, an Arizona conditioner condenser there is about all, except for services, that had been done. Sorry I can’t give you what you ask for.
@mikethies *at risk.
@larrylewis46 I ackowledge that the IMS issue did not affect all 986s, yet when they did fail, it was catestrophic for the car. There is also dissagreement among "experts" on what real percentage were, as still are, as rick. The lack of documentation of a replacement hurts us a bit on this one.
@mikethies i have no actual proof of the IMS being refitted but given the following circumstances, I find it hard to believe that it wasn’t. During the recall time of the IMS the car was under the care of Performance Porsche in Durham, NC. Also, at 79K miles the clutch has been replaced at least once and the work would have been done at that time. I have no actual records of maintenance except the CarFax that you can see and what has been done under my care. Remember, that the IMS only affected 3-5% of the Porsches involved. The car performs great and hasn’t missed a beat in the 6 years I’ve had it. It is a good honest driver.
I see there was recent maintenance. Has the IMS been replaced? That is a real risk, if not.

Rick A. The photos have been added. This is the best I can do without access to a lift. I hope you can see that is dry and reasonably clean underneath. I hope this helps. Thanks for your question.
I don’t have access to a lift but will do my best. Check back in about half an hour. Thanks.
Hi, Larry. Nice car. Could you post some pictures of the car underside? Thanks, Rick A
Hi. This is Larry. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Enjoy the auction and good luck.
