Among the first generation of water-cooled 911s, this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera features a 3.4-liter flat-six engine. Finished in Speed Yellow over a Black leather interior, this 911 was optioned with a 6-speed manual transmission, the highly desirable factory Aerokit, 18” Sport Design wheels, stainless steel exhaust pipes, the Power Seat Package, the Hi-Fi Sound Package, and more. This 996 Carrera is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of South Carolina showing approximately 18k miles on the odometer.

Finished in Speed Yellow, this 996 is optioned with the highly desirable factory Aerokit which adds revised bumpers, side skirts, and a fixed rear wing derived from the GT3. It rides on optional Porsche color-crested 18” Sport Design wheels wrapped in Continental tires. Stainless steel exhaust pipes were additionally opted for while black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering are equipped as standard. The seller notes that the rear driver's side quarter was painted and does not match. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is upholstered in Black leather and features the optional Power Seat Package and Porsche-crested headrests. The Hi-Fi Sound Package with 10 Speaker Amplifier System is also optionally equipped, as well as a remote 6-disc CD changer, aluminum painted instrument dials, and the handbrake and shift knob in aluminum. Standard equipment includes power windows and mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, and a cassette holder. The seller notes that an aftermarket Alpine head unit has been installed and that the airbag light is stuck on, however, all other gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be in working order.

Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine, the 996 Carrera sends up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft. of torque to its rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. All maintenance is reported to be up-to-date and the CARFAX report lists 9 service history entries.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: "Hello everyone and welcome to my auction. The car I’m selling is a vehicle that I purchased through the HBI site unseen some months ago. Unfortunately, the vehicle did not meet my expectations as it requires paintwork to the rear quarter panel and the fuel gauge does not work. Overall, the car is in terrific shape with regards to the body, plastic hang-on parts, and engine. As you can, imagine, I no longer have a passion for this car and want to move it to its next owner. What I can tell you, you’ll get a solid car but we require some love to get it to a high-quality level. Good luck on the auction and let me know if I can answer any questions."

@IslaTurbine, @BScifers- Porsche did offer XAD – Rear bumper side fins in conjunction with XAA – Aerokit.
    Here's an example: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2001-porsche-911-carrera-coupe-8/

  • IslaTurbine (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

    @BScifers
They're known as spats and were a separate option code of XAD and were not standard equipment with an XAA car. If you see an XAA car with the spats, then you know that they were added at some point after the car was produced. Conversely, I personally have never see a car with XAD spats but Without an XAA Aerokit. Maybe Porsche prohibited that or everyone thought it would look at tad goofy.

  • BScifers (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Congrats bhmohio! Great looking Aerokit and great buy!!

I didn't want to disrupt the auction with an irrelevant question, but would ask those with knowledge to speak on why some Aerokit cars have the rear "canards"? (Maybe might not be the right word... it's the small wedge shape behind the rear wheels, rather than the "smooth bumper" from complete side to side.)

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, as mentioned in my comments, this car needs some sorting out, like many of classic Porsche’s, but once complete it’s a true collectable classic. Good luck !

    Yes drivers side

  • Yourortho (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Is it just the driver's side rear quarter that doesn't match? In some of the photos the passenger rear quarter seems off too when compared to the passenger door.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

    Sure .. uploaded.
It could be that I’m over critical because I do color for a major OEM. Anyways, have a look. Note the body is in great shape which is most important. Good luck

  • 1973hp (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

can you provide additional images better showing the rear quarter panel pain problem? Maybe if you point at it in pictures it will be more obvious. Nothing really stands out on the gallery.

Btw. Sorry for all the typos

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Thanks for your comment. There is no sign the front bumper was repainted .. matter of fact the bumper plugs I bought are a perfect match .. have a closer look. No like rear quarter that shows light and yellow. I think you’re mistake.

  • That996guy (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

The following raises concerns about the airbag light being stuck on, as stated... "The seller notes...that the airbag light is stuck on... Is there possibly a bigger issue with airbag deployment/accident? The front bumper cover may have been painted as the factory spoiler lip would be in black, currently, the lip is painted in Speed Yellow. Very common to have bumper covers resprayed, but at 18k miles.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Fully understand. !! the Carfax is clean and unfortunately I don’t know the reason for the repaint. Likely some delamination. My paint guy noted the body is in great shape. Also, I ran a magnet in the concern area and all checked out fine. Just wish Helen Keller wasn’t the painter :-).

  • RickWanders (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

@Jammerkid I think the paint concerns have a lot of us, understandably so, worried about whether or not there’s more going on. Was the vehicle in an accident and not reported? Why was it repainted? All valid concerns right? One just has to wonder

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Hello Bidders, don’t let this classic Porsche get away. It only needs to be paint matched in the rear quarter, but the rest of the car is in great condition. This car will keep climbing and value as a 996 looks better today than when it was launched in 1999.

BTW… Most slugs today are chromed or anodized to avoid this problem. Too much cost in warranty :-)

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

unfortunately, yes, it’s a typical occurrence. I just replaced another set on my 05 C2S w. 28,000 miles ..Same issue. There’s not a heavy plating process on these bolts and once removed once or twice it scrapes the coating away. This creates a place for the rust to start.

  • mirthrander (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

These models aren’t very well known to me, but is it typical to see that much rust on the lug nuts?

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, this is solid investment with some TLC. The fact it’s a factory Aero Kit, speed yellow, 19K miles ,full leather and 6 spd can easily bring mid 30K . In the next years, it will increase in value as the 996 is aging in a classic style. Don’t miss out !

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, don’t let the paint topic be a make or break. It’s a 19K mile car, solid service history, runs great and turns heads like I’ve never seen before. Need a passion owner to get it fully back.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Budget 1.5 to 3 K. That’s for glass out, parts out, spot repair + new rubber moldings, clips, etc.
note, he immediately noticed that no body work is necessary. But to fix it correctly, he recommended taking out the glass, rocker …

  • Jfied23 6 months, 3 weeksago

Do we have a ballpark estimate on what the paintwork would cost?

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Yes, fully agree. We’re out of town this week for the Holiday
    :-(

  • vengerider (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

    Would definitely be helpful.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

    No, but it’s possible

  • vengerider (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Do you have paint meter readings for the entire car?

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, if you like I can give you the name of a Master Painter here in Greenville, 30 years BMW experience , so you can have it repaired before you receive it. He’s already looked at the car..my initial plan was for him to repair it in June.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Like always, these cars are hard to part with…. I envisioned black powder coat on the wheel inners and a black Porsche side strip. My dream car !

  • PetarVNik (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

"You had me at Speed Yellow plus Aerokit." :)

Rad car! Would love to see this in my garage, will keenly be following along.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, note that is car has over $17,000 in options. Have a look at the build sheet. With a good spot repair guy it will be back in excellent condition. It’s already a classic and likely to increase in value.

  • luis.seneriz 6 months, 3 weeksago

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Appreciate your comments ! I feel out of love :-)

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

So they didn't disclose the paintwork to you when you bought it? Or the fuel gauge? That's bullsh*t. So sorry. The first Ferrari I bought was the same way...and in fact was yellow. It wasn't what I expected and I could not get over it, and traded it in a month later and I'm sure somebody is loving it today. It's a weird mental twist.

This car looks amazing, and the new owner can deal with the paint or not, I love the color, and the aero kit flat out makes it a winner, along with the Sports Design wheels. The 996 is going into a resurgence of people appreciating what the design means, along with the Ducati 999. Beautiful.

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Bidders, I want to mention that the interior shows like a car with 19K miles .. no leather rips or wear on the side bolsters .. door panels have no warp or wear and headliner is in good shape and leather IP is like new. It’s really about the paint on this car…

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

So the correct way to fix this is to remove the rocker panel, side glass and maybe even the tail light.. sand, primer, sand then base coat, then clear.
Speed yellow is not a metallic so if you get a decent paint guy he can match it no problem.
I’m just so pissed off at HBI the way they misrepresent the car that I complete lost my interest in it.

  • UpstateSC (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Is there a paint line or was it just not blended and paint matched properly?

I’ve updated the sellers comments that I think will address your question. Thanks for looking and let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Hintze (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Why such a short ownership period?

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Car runs great with straight, clean body with factory gaps and flush on panels. I would repaint the rear quarter to blend in..

  • Hintze (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Why such a short ownership period? Trouble with the car from HBI Auto? Also, seems like the car sat for 10 years prior to that. Do you have any insights on that?

  • Jammerkid (seller) 6 months, 3 weeksago

Yes, the drivers rear quarter was touched up. No body work but would needs a respray for better color match.

  • BoxsterGT (registered bidder) 6 months, 3 weeksago

    Paint mismatch?
