Representing the first generation of water-cooled 911s, this 2000 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. Finished in Black over Savanna Beige leather upholstery and previously sold on PCARMARKET, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York while showing approximately 78k miles on the odometer.
This 996 comes finished in Black with a matching cabriolet soft top. This first-generation Carrera rides on 18” Turbo look wheels with colored Porsche center crests and Pirelli all-season tires mounted in October 2021. The previous owner reported the front bumper and hood to have been refinished. The seller adds that the convertible top was replaced in April 2023 and a thorough detail was carried out at Manhattan Motorcars, New York, in October 2023. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The driver is situated within a Savanna Beige interior with optional supple leather upholstery, automatic climate control, and power-operated front seats. The seller adds that a Sony touch-screen head unit with Apple CarPlay has been installed, and the original head unit will accompany the sale. Some moderate signs of wear are noted and all gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
This 996 equips a 3.4-liter flat-six engine that sends up to 296 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The prior owner reported the IMS bearing to have been replaced along with the thermostat. The seller adds that the battery was replaced in the summer of 2021, a new ignition was installed in August 2021, and full service was carried out in the summer of 2022 including oil and coolant changes. Additionally, the CARFAX report shows a total of 13 service history entries.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Mint condition Porsche 911 Cabriolet "tan on black" with manual transmission. This car is in excellent condition and has been babied by me over the last 2.5 years and garaged in NYC. It's only been driven about 8k highway miles during that time. During this time, I completed the following work to upgrade the car and during this time, handled a few larger ticket maintenance items that should translate into lower maintenance costs for you as the new owner!
Items include:
Thank you for your interest."

I think this is the third time being asked so I'm sorry, but it seems the question wasn't answered. Are there records for the IMS bearing?

@jentex Absolutely. Title is clean and clear and ready to be FedEx'd.
Do you have a clean, clear , standard NY state title in your name ready to transfer to the new buyer? Thanks
Yeah they're a huge bargain. Great performance, "raw feeling" from the flat six and they're just solid cars. Happy bidding!
What a great color combo. Nice car ! These 996s are a huge BANG for the buck.
Do you have records of the IMS bearing replacement? And/or a clean bore scope? TIA
Bid in the amount of $13,750
@Petergfitz thank you
Yes it's always been parked at iPark in the west village (covered)
Are located right in downtown n y c or close?
Guys let me know if you have any further questions. It's a gorgeous car and I only wish I could keep it but I bought a 991.1. As mentioned, I've done a ton of work to upgrade and modernize the car, plus took care of tires, clutch, and roof. The car is fast and is solid. No rattles or squeaks. I've used the car primarily to drive up to see my parents in Canada and it's a delightful drive on the highway (as I'm sure you guys already know!). The Pirelli's have great grip and the ride is very comfortable for longer distance driving.

@alland no tears, just modest wear from the age of the car.
petergfitz: Can you verify that the IMS bearing has been replaced? Shop and date would be fine. Thanks.

Are there tears on the left front and rear seat bolsters (or maybe just look that way in pics?) Thank you.

Hi bidders, one other thing I did that I neglected to mention, is I had AutoCraft NYC remove the headlights, sand blast them, and then repolish them. On these older 996's, the lights can get a bit foggy. I did this work about 1.5 years ago ($700) and so the refinishing makes the car look much newer. I additionally had clear European turning lights put in, to replace the orange ones that ordinarily come stock on the car. Overall, it looks nicer and more modern.
Guys, let me know if you have any further questions. 24 hours left to go and I'll be here and responding as needed.

Thanks! Do you have a video of the car running?
The original OEM radio and mounting brackets come with the vehicle purchase.
Bid in the amount of $7,000
@Tripin6 I had the car for 2.5 years and changed the oil 3 times. I only put 8k miles on the car during that period.
Bid in the amount of $5,000
Thanks. What were the oil change intervals?
Hi I haven't checked for bore scoring. I'll note that the mufflers are clean, including on the drivers' side (which, otherwise can be an early indication of boring issues). Additionally, as a preventive matter, I have (of course) only used premium fuel and changed oil regularly with highest grade oils. There's also no "ticking" noises whatsoever, that can also be indications of issues. My brother also owns a 996 and the performance of the cars are identical in terms of raw acceleration and overall performance.
Has it been scoped for early signs of bore scoring? Thanks
Reminder bidders ... the car has a brand new roof, brand new clutch, new ignition, and relatively new tires with ~2k miles on them.
Bid in the amount of $3,752
Oh that sounds awesome about your 996.2 targa. Very rare! I bought the car 2.5 years ago here from PCA Market and they said the IMS was done but I don't have records beyond that the last seller stated. I wasn't able to put it up on a lift before posting so the only pics from the undercarriage I was able to get are the ones I just posted. Hope those can suffice :-) Let me know if you have further questions; it's a real beauty and a shame I'm selling.
@Petergfitz beautiful car. I had a Lapis Blue 996.2 Targa and tremendously missed it after I let it go for an M5! Do you have the service records for the IMS replacement? Can you post undercarriage pics?

Great job Viper1000! It's a gorgeous car. I put a lot of money into the car thinking I was going to keep it but then found a bargain 991.1 and decided to pull the trigger. I'll miss this guy so much.
