Created as a road-going homologation model for the FIA GT3 Cup race series in 1999, the original Porsche 996.1 GT3 features a 3.6-liter Mezger flat-six engine derived from the Le Mans-winning 911 GT1 race car. The 996.1 GT3 was never offered for sale in North America, and only 1,868 examples were produced for RoW markets between 1999 and 2001. Finished in Black over a matching leather interior, this 2000 example was originally sold in Germany and factory equipped with Recaro leather Clubsport bucket seats, air conditioning, front and side airbags, full leather upholstery, aluminum instrument dials, and a Porsche CDR 22 radio. It also features a dealer-installed Porsche Tequipment roll bar with red Schroth safety harnesses. The car was imported to France in 2006, where it remained with a single owner until it was purchased by the current owner and imported to the U.S. on February 10th, 2025, only four days after its 25th manufacturing date anniversary. A rare opportunity to own a U.S.-registered 996.1 GT3, this car is now being offered for auction out of Florida, accompanied by a clean Montana title, a large file of invoices, and documented inspection history from new.

The original GT3 uses the bodyshell of the 996 Carrera 4, leveraging its additional front-end stiffening. Compared to other 996 models, the GT3 features a unique front spoiler, side skirts, and a fixed body-colored rear wing. This example is finished in Black and rides on aftermarket TUV-certified 18” Cargraphic three-piece wheels in black. The seller notes that the paint chips on the front bumper, hood, and side mirrors are consistent with the vehicle’s mileage, slight signs of paintwork are noted on the front fenders, and the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires are older. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior features premium Black full leather upholstery with extended stitching along the dashboard and door panels, optional Recaro Clubsport bucket seats with embossed headrests, aluminum instrument dials, and a dealer-installed Porsche Tequipment chrome roll bar with red Schroth safety harnesses. The car was also optioned with front and side airbags, air conditioning, and a Porsche CDR 22 radio.

The original GT3’s 3.6-liter Mezger M96/79 flat-six engine is derived from the 911 GT1 Le Mans car and features integrated dry-sump lubrication, titanium connecting rods, lightweight pistons, and a nitride-hardened crankshaft. It delivers up to 360 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential. The GT3’s suspension includes uprated wheel bearings and rod ends, adjustable coilovers, and adjustable anti-roll bars. Stopping power comes from fixed 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers with cross-drilled rotors. Service records dating back to 2006 show a clutch kit replaced by a Porsche dealer 66k kilometers and the replacement of an A/C condenser and cooling radiators in 2018. The car passed a French technical inspection in August 2024 and underwent an inspection by a local Porsche specialist upon arrival in the U.S. The most recent oil change was at 91k kilometers.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a tire inflator, a first-aid kit, service records, and a clean title.

Great seller - known personally. This is a rare and incredibly well-preserved 996.1 GT3, one of the most analog and rewarding modern-era 911s out there. I’ve spent time around both the car and owner - serious pedigree. The winner will not regret it. GLWA!

Hi everyone, welcome to my auction.

This car is one of the very few (maybe 10 or so) 996.1 GT3's that have been imported into the US. This is the first version of the GT3 - the homologation version that was built so Porsche could go out and race in the FIA GT3 cup. Only 1,868 were built and none were imported into the US. Because of EPA regulations, street legal versions can only be imported once each car turns 25 years old (the first were built in the summer of 1999). This car was first registered On 2/10/2000. I bought it in Lyon, France, in July 2024, where it was owned by one person since 2006 (who also kept a full file of meticulous records). and it reached the US on 2/14/2025 - four days after its 25th birthday. I had the fun of driving it down to Miami from the port in Brunswick and then also up and back to Werks Reunion at Amelia in March (its also been to a few Porsche events in Miami). All I can say is that it drives amazingly.

This car is not a garage queen. It has been driven and is currently at about 93,400km (58,000 mi) and has the chips on the front to prove it. However, it also has a number of factory high spec features, which are not on all 996.1 GT3's, including full leather interior (stitching on the dash and doors), full leather Recaro bucket seats with an embossed crest, and white (aluminum) gages. The climate control a/c blows ice cold in Miami (or I guess French Riviera) heat. The roll bar is Porsche Tequipment and was dealer installed. The floor mats are from the original selling Porsche dealer in Germany - and the service books are fully stamped from sale to present. So, very original and unmolested.

Obviously, I'll be available to answer questions or to show the car if you are in Miami.

If you are not too familiar with the 996.1 GT3, I highly encourage you to read some of the links below. It is a very special variant that will be revered as one of the greats.

If you want to really get deep and have a few hours to spare, give this video a watch by Porsche Club of America, it highlights the major differences between the .1 and .2 GT3.
