The R129 series was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1989 and received facelifts for the 1996 and 1999 model years. This rare 2000 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Designo Slate Blue Edition features a black soft top, body-colored removable hardtop, two-tone Designo Dark Blue leather upholstery, Designo curled maple interior trim, 16” AMG-branded wheels, and more. Showing approximately 65k miles on the odometer, this SL500 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This example was ordered in the seldom-seen shade of Designo Slate Blue Varicolor 2 (023U) with a black power-retractable soft top and a body-colored removable hardtop. Exterior features include xenon headlights with automatic level control, fog lights, fender vents, a panoramic windshield wiper, and 16” AMG-branded wheels wrapped in Sumitomo HTRZ tires from 2016. The seller notes a small hole in the soft top. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin presents two-tone Designo Dark Blue leather upholstery with Designo curled maple interior trim. Amenities include heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory functions, automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows and mirrors, and a central locking system. An aftermarket stereo and upgraded floor mats have been installed, and the original components accompany the sale. Slight separation on the driver’s door panel upholstery and sagging on the hardtop interior headliner are noted.
Power comes from an all-aluminum M113 5.0-liter V8 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 302 HP and 339 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Stopping is provided by four-wheel disc brakes. The seller adds that the convertible top hydraulics have been replaced, and the valve cover gaskets have been recently replaced.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This example has been garage-kept and was acquired by the current owner in 2020. We are offering this example on consignment.”

Also performed. Front pads, rotors and sensors. Checked and repaired driver seat heater with new seat mat. New Visors and mirrors and hardware.
The seller would also like me to mention the vehicle had a full paint correction and three year Adam's ceramic coat installed one year ago.
@JPushka hello, a pillar hydraulics have been replaced remaining were inspected and working as they should. I will notify Pcarmarket to change the headlights. Thank you.
@Marine_Blue the seller has passed on this info below.
New Pioneer MVH-S522BS stereo head unit with Bluetooth phone. Entire system was checked and all speakers are working properly. Original radio works and is included. Had A Pillar
Hydraulics replaced No other hydraulics needed. Full service at 64,411. Replaced Valve Cover gaskets and breather boxes. All other system and fluids checked. The cover over map lights is broken but the lights and electrical is fine. They are not Xenon lights to my knowledge.
Have the roof hydraulic cylinders been rebuilt or replaced? And as an FYI, the headlamps are not the Mercedes-Benz optional Xenon lights, you may want to change your description.
Seller, can you please confirm what specifically was changed on the Stereo?
Also does the car have any known mechanical issues outside of the hole in the soft top? Any oil or power steering fluid hose leaks?
It appears there’s damage to the cover where the top latches into the windshield in the middle, can you please provide additional pictures of this area?
Outside of the maintenance listed in the description has the car had other maintenance done?
The engine designation has been corrected.
@dmcampbell good morning I just confirmed with the seller. It has the 113 motor.
This is not a M119 equipped R129. The correct engine designation is M133 with 302hp and 339tq.
Hello my name is Michael Tanore with LVS Motorcars. I have this wonderful vehicle on consignment for the current owner. The vehicle runs and drives as it should and even though it does have a few minor imperfections (see walk around video) it definitely doesn't take away from this wonderful example. Please ask any questions you may have.
