Produced for over five generations from 1976 to 2004, the Lotus Esprit was originally designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and has gained recognition as an iconic British sports car. Powered by a potent 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the 2000 Lotus Esprit provides a thrilling driving experience. This example comes finished in black over a matching leather interior and is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Illinois while showing approximately 40k miles on the odometer.
The sleek low-slung bodywork is characterized by a long sloping hood, a steeply raked windshield, prominent air intakes, and vents within the engine lid. Details include pop-up headlights, a front valance with integrated fog lights, and a body-colored rear wing. This Esprit comes finished in black with a removable center roof panel and has been movies with a Sport 350 Esprit front spoiler lip. It rides on factory 17”/18” six-spoke OZ wheels mounted with Toyo Proxes Sport A/S tires from 2000. Front-end paint protection film has been applied, and the seller notes minor rock dings on the fascia as well as minor scratches on the doors and wheels. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with black leather which spans the seats, dashboard, center console, sun visors, and door panels. A 2003 Esprit-derived aluminum shift knob has been fitted along with an Alpine stereo with an iPhone interface. Equipment also includes VDO instrumentation, a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, Lotus-branded floor mats, and door sills with Esprit lettering. The seller reports all gauges, electronics, and accessories to be working properly.
The Esprit V8 is powered by an all-aluminum Type 918 3.5-liter V8 DOHC engine with 4 valves per cylinder, a flat-plane crankshaft, and twin Garrett T25/60 turbochargers. An output of up to 350 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a Lotus-modified Renault 5-speed manual transaxle. The Esprit V8 comes standard with a four-wheel independent transverse link-tuned suspension system as well as ventilated disc brakes. The seller adds that a Blue Gates timing belt and water pump were installed in 2022. The CARFAX report shows a total of 11 service history entries.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I love this car. It's in great condition and has treated me wonderfully during the period I've owned it. The exact car was my childhood dream. It runs great, has a ton of power, and is a blast to drive. This Lotus is stunning in person. I am looking forward to passing on this wonderful car to the next proud owner. I love this thing but have gotten way too much into Japanese mini trucks and need garage space.”

I was hoping you’d drop out in the upper 40s.
Congrats. I was out, then back in and the planes wifi went down. I guess that’s a sign it should be yours.
I'll be livid if a red one (my actual preferred color for these) sells for cheaper in the near future ...
Only spent $17,000 more (with fees) than what I could have bought this same exact car for 2 years ago :) ... but, been wanting one of these for a while ... this is what happens when two bidders really want something ... Istvan, does the money made on this car buy you a Japanese mini truck? :)
Sold for $54,750
Congrats @Ethan2023

That's an interesting tactic ... we are making the seller very happy ... the dealers dropped a while ago ... spending way more than I expected I would ...
Guess he found another $250 under the cushions.

@ethan2023 Weill if this one sells at this price, it will be the only 2000 Esprit V8 left. The rest of us who own them will be driving off the nearest cliff if it doesn’t fetch a lot more than this
Looks like a great car. I sold mine a 3 years ago for 30 :(. This market has been nuts. I will tell you this, if I buy it, the market will crash the next day. That’s how my luck works.

I'm lifting the reserve price. Somebody is taking the car home today! Don't miss out on this opportunity to be the next proud owner of this beauty.
@Ethan2023 I have an extreme empathy for you there. When I bought my Exige I paid $20k more than it sold on BAT two years earlier.
@Ethan2023 Graham really took care of the car. Wonderful guy.
I just bid $1000 OVER the amount I had discussed with the previous owner of this car, Graham, back in 2021, when this car had 3,000 miles less, after he failed to get more than $30K on another auction site ... these life regrets ... :(

@mark79pc I'm not aware of any other issues; the car has performed wonderfully for me. In May 2021 it was fully looked over by Glenview Luxury Imports (the Lotus dealer / mechanic in Chicagoland). At that time I had all four rotors and brakes replaced and both CV axle seals grease and new seals / boots installed. New battery put on this year. Tires were installed in April 2021; they are in great shape. Timing belt was replaced in 2015 and again in May 2022.
Are there any other issues not fixed yet?
Wish I can test drive this beauty.

@Ethan2023 Thanks for looking and the the inquiry. The heater matrix was repaired by the previous owner . I've attached the receipt photos. Repair was completed in March 2021 by Top Gear Autoworks in Minneapolis. I have not spent much time using the heater as it comes out on warmer weather days. The AC blows cold and strong. I've never had issues with any of the HVAC systems.
Bid in the amount of $500
Hi seller, has the heating matrix been fixed? Are both heating and air conditioning working well?
