The R1200C debuted in 1997 as BMW's take on an American-style cruiser motorcycle. It was updated in 2000 with an improved adjustable rear shock and enhancements to its electronic ignition and fuel injection systems. Powered by a 1,170cc air/oil-cooled flat-twin boxer engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission with shaft final drive, this 2000 example is finished in black and features Telelever front suspension, Paralever rear suspension, triple Brembo disc brakes, custom exhaust pipes, two-up seating, an adjustment backrest, and electronic fuel injection, Corbyn leather saddle bags, and more. Showing approximately 37k miles on the odometer, this R1200C is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

Finished in black, this example features black two-up Corbyn seats with an adjustable and removable backrest, designed to fit both seats. It showcases chrome trim, chrome handlebars with rear-view mirrors, leather saddlebags, and a windscreen. It rides on wire-spoke wheels with a new front tire. The seller notes minor rust on the wheels and exhaust, detailed images are available in the gallery.

The 1,170cc air/oil-cooled flat-twin boxer engine, factory-rated at 61 HP and 72 lb. ft of torque, features electronic fuel injection, oil-cooled cylinder heads, four valves per cylinder, and mid-cam valve actuation, along with CDI ignition, an electric starter, and polished dual exhaust with a crossover pipe. Power is delivered through a 5-speed manual transmission and a driveshaft enclosed within the Monolever swingarm, while braking is facilitated by dual Brembo discs up front and a single disc in the rear. The front suspension utilizes a Telelever system with a central spring strut for precise steering and handling without brake dive, and the rear employs a Paralever system with a single-sided swingarm to eliminate shaft effect and throttle reaction from the drivetrain, with the 2000 model upgrading to an adjustable hydraulic rear shock. The seller notes the installation of a new clutch in June 2020 at 35k miles.

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, two battery chargers, one cover, one helmet, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an amazing bike to drive, there is nothing like the sound of the flat-twin going through the gears! I have owned it for 15 years but not riding it enough and would like someone else to be able to enjoy it. It was designed by BMW to show HD they too could make a great cruiser, that would also be reliable.”

All the people I know who have one love the bike! Yes, it has ABS which, in my mind, makes a huge difference!

I always loved this bike, even though it was often not regarded highly. Does this one have ABS?

I love the sound and feel of this bike. I only got to ride it for a few hundred miles every year, since I've had it in the last 15 years, so now is a good time to let someone else enjoy the incomparable rumble of the classic BMW flat twin. For those of you who like James Bond, this is the same as the bike that was in the movie "Tomorrow never dies".
