Beautiful example. The seller is a true enthusiast and he will be missed in the 996 community? Best of luck with that new car of yours :p
@Mikeeymikee I believe the only change to the exhaust system are the mufflers.
Bid in the amount of $33,500
Being in CA, are the factory cats still in place?
3 videos and 2 new pics sent to pcarmarket. Hopefully they can upload before auction closing
I have 50,000 miles on original clutch and Ims and pretty much the same car I love this 3.4 engine. I put over 10,000 miles in the last two years on my car She’s never let me stranded never not start it on the first turn.
And vice versa. If you're in there for an IMS bearing, just replace the clutch and flywheel at the same time. These 3 items should all be changed at the same time. Every 40k miles IMHO. With that said my early white car has original IMS bearing going on 106k miles and my Seal Gray 996.1 Aero car has 40k on original clutch and IMS bearing. I'll be doing the big 4 on that one soon. IMS, RMS, Clutch and Flywheel.
@Bklyndave74 Thank you. One of the previous owners replaced the IMS and Clutch. For what it's worth, my theory on the 996/997 IMS bearing... If you're in there for the clutch, it's always a good idea to throw a new IMS bearing in also.
Yes the clutch rms, etc where change because you need to remove the engine to do the IMs. Anyway better to the new buyer, if the person knows how to drive a stick and does not ride on the clutch, you can get 100,000 miles out of this one. It’s what it’s called while you are in there job.
@GT-3 guy. My 3/98 coupe which I’m fixing to sell since I just bought a 03 turbo here Wednesday. Has been sitting in the winter outside without a battery tender for 23 days without being driven. It started right away. That’s why I never put a smaller pulley on it. Yes the alternator is relatively new and the cable was also changed. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to deal differently with the tt.
Great car can I ask why you did the clutch and fly wheel rms… etc was it just prevention?
Bid in the amount of $25,000
All, I’ve purchased a car from this seller. Can’t say enough good things on how honest he was. Car was actually better than he led me to believe because of his high attention to detail. I hope to buy another car from him in the future… GLWS! Clean and solid looking car like I expected from you.
Bid in the amount of $19,000
@Neugie All Porsche’s, unless you drive them regularly (this one has not been driven a lot) unless you have a battery tender it won’t hold a charge and or have issues.. period. There is nothing wrong with the car it’s just the way they are
@Neugie I think it’s all related to not keeping the car on a tender. Zero issues of any kind for me. I’ll post a cold start video later
According to the CARFAX reports, there have been several electrical charging/electrical issues addressed with your Porsche with past owners. Have you experienced any additional charging/battery issues during your ownership?
@Maxoverdrive good catch and sorry for the confusion. They are pzero and all purchased from discount tire on July 11, 2020. They range in dates from 42/19 to 08/20 and if I had to guess have roughly 2000 miles on them. 225 40 18 fronts and 265 40 18 rears which are Porsche Factory Specs.
@ptgltw Hi , Great looking 996 and very well presented. Quick question, description says Michelins but it appears to have Pzeros in the pictures. Can you tell me what’s currently on the car and age of tires? Thank you for your time. GLWA.
@ptgltw Oh man you are correct - in hind sight I am so sorry to make the comparison btwn the 2 since yours is 100% factory...I apologize and wish you the best of luck
@PorscheGeek My aero car with the XAA option was built by Porsche and has factory paint. Not sure who built their car.
FYI, an Aero 1999 silver & black w 39k miles sold back in feb for $39,000 on that other auction website that is similar to this one...
I was under the impression that the 1999 did not have a IMS issue . i think that they changed to a single row IMS in 2000. Regardless, it's a nice car. GLWS.
A good point was made earlier. Something that makes the 99 C2 special is the fact it's throttle cable driven. I didn't touch on this in the ad but it is a "big deal" for me anyhow. I just assumed people know already and that was wrong of me.
99 C4's and 2000 and up Porsche used the E Throttle. 99's are closer to your air cooled classics than others. And we all know the air cooled models have loads of soul but not much get up and go. This 99 provides both IMO.
@Mercyhealth thank you for your bid. I believe it's part 996 505 986 00 and the install kit is 996 505 986 91 MK. About $500 for both
@IslaTurbine As I said I could be wrong. I’ve never seen a picture of it. And it was not included in my 996 Aerokit gen 1 car. But I was not the first owner.
@Mercyhealth All XAA Aerokits had a plastic lower spoiler from the factory.
@IslaTurbine as I’m sure you know there is a difference between the gen 1 and gen 2 front bumpers and spoilers. This is seen not only in the Aerokit but also in the standard front bumpers of the 996. I’m not sure the car is missing the front lower spoiler but I could be wrong.
Bid in the amount of $15,000
Just an enthusiast’s babbling but the winglets, spats, and side fins are called GT trims. Not that it matters but just my two cents in this historic example of the 911. This is a beautiful car with a Porsche art piece attached to the rear engine deck lid. So nice.
If you are in the market for a 996, then this is THE ONE you've been looking for as it ticks a TON of boxes:
1999 Cable Throttle
Aero Package
IMS Done
Low Miles
993 Steering Wheel
Great, Classic Colors
...as the previous owner of a 964, and the current owner of an Aero 996, I can advise that an example like this is a car/investment that you can enjoy while it appreciates...GOOD LUCK & Can't wait to see the result ~ !
@IslaTurbine you beat me to it on the spats. I have ran across XAA optioned cars in the past and the rear panel "spats" ( XAD Rear bumper side fins ) are in deed an additional option bolted to this one in addition to the XAA.
I feel the Aero option is completed with the rear "wings' and can only help the appearance of a 996 with the XAA Aero kit, but to each their own. Factory installed or not, they look right and they look better on the car. If this was a 8,000 mile car and perfect in every way, it 'might" matter to a true collector. This car presents nice and should do well. The days of buying a Aero 996 (non S car) for under 30 are gone, or at least 11 months ago.
Beautiful car and good luck to all.
Funny how everyone likes fried eggs these days.
Thanks for your comment.. I’ll do my best to answer every question.
Not sure about what muffler bypass pipes are on it. It has a nice sound. I’ll try to locate a manufacturer and I’ll try to post some cold start / driving videos this week.
And yes if we are to believe the sticker for option accuracy the rear side splats were not installed at the factory but could have been installed before taking delivery while at port or at the dealership. They could also have been installed after taking delivery by one of its owners.
I do have another factory XAA car and it has the XAD rear side splats listed on the build sheet.
@PCARMarket, the description is a bit inaccurate as the rear bumper spats are not part of the XAA Aerokit package. They are under an optional code of XAD. Not a big deal but they are obviously not original to the car.
The car is missing the front lower spoiler but that’s fairly common as they tend to get scraped up over the years. Whoever buys this should consider installing one as it really balances out the look of the Aerokit front bumper.
Seller, any ideas as to which aftermarket mufflers are installed?
