Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet presented in Paladio Metallic over a black leather interior with rare light burr maple trim. Representing the first generation of the water-cooled 911, the 996 series is quickly gaining popularity for its visceral driving characteristics and analog feel. This 1999 6-speed example was purchased by its current owner from a friend in San Diego, CA in 2016 with approximately 80k miles showing on the odometer. Having since been relocated to Texas with approximately 15k miles added over the past 4 years, this Carrera Cabriolet is said to be in great driving condition with recent service records and approximately 96k miles showing on the odometer.
The Paladio Metallic finish is said to be in excellent condition with minimal signs of road-going wear (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery). This car retains its factory original appearance with desirable 18” Turbo-look wheels which are currently dressed in Kumho tires.
Inside, the driver is situated in a black leather interior with light burr maple trim which is said to be in great shape while exhibiting some minor signs of wear. All gauges and accessories are stated to be fully functional, although the seller indicates that the brake pad wear indicator light is currently illuminated as one of the sensor wires have become disconnected. Factory options specified for this Carrera include:
Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4 L flat-six engine which is rated at 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds and a top speed of over 170 MPH. Recent service records from authorized Porsche dealerships are included with the latest service item being the replacement of the battery in March of 2020. This 996 is said be in very good driving condition.
The sale of this 996 will include a set of 3 keys, original books and tools, service records and a spare tire. If you’re a Porsche enthusiast in search of a 6-speed Cabriolet, this 1999 example is not to be overlooked.

The previous owner saw the question about the clutch and just contacted me to let me know that when he purchased the vehicle from San Francisco Sports Cars in Fed 2014, they told him it just had a new clutch, and the odometer at the time was around 56K. So about 40K miles on the current clutch.
@Iamonewiththeworld I have no knowledge of the clutch being replace, but I do know it was not replaced within the last 6 years. The clutch is very strong, as is the gearbox.
Seller - has the clutch been replaced? I don’t see any record to make me think it has. Thanks!
@Mercyhealth Thanks for your good wishes. I think it is important to show clearly in the pic gallery any little defects, even in a car that is 21 years old and in otherwise very good condition, rather than hide them.
No bids yet?? Unusual considering how many 996s have been sold on many sites lately. Beautiful color and interesting interior trim. Unfortunately looks like the wood interior has been more than gently used. Can be replaced for a cost. No matter it’s always about the car’s power plant that’s important. Good luck!
I happen to know the owner and have ridden in the car many times....It is a gorgeous car and has been meticulously cared for.....good luck bidding
Ok so the 1999 cars have no problem? Thank you.
@Nadir The single row bearings were installed on 2000 - 2005 model years, and this is a 1999. You can find lots of discussion on this item... Thanks for asking!
Has the IMS bearing been changed, at what mileage and was it an upgrade IMS? Thank you
