Up for auction is this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe finished in Black. This 6-speed Carrera came well equipped from the factory with an exclusive GT3-style Aerokit, 18” Sport Classic wheels, and a black full leather interior with Sport Seats. It was acquired by the current owner in September of 2021 and subsequently treated to a major service including new valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, water pump seals, IMS bearing service, and installation of an upgraded Fabspeed exhaust. A proper driver’s car with a 6-speed manual gearbox and optional limited-slip differential, this Carrera Coupe is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Texas showing approximately 74k miles on the odometer.
This 996 was ordered in nonmetallic Black (A1) along with the exterior Aerokit (XAA) which adds a GT3-style front fascia, flared side skirts, and a fixed rear wing. Optional Litronic Xenon headlamps were also equipped from the factory as well as 18” Sport Classic 2-piece wheels with colored Porsche center crests. The car rides on a set of Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 tires sized 225/40 in front and 265/35 in the rear. The front bumper is said to have been refinished under prior ownership, and the seller notes a 5-year ceramic coating treatment has been applied to the exterior. One of the wheels was also recently refinished in preparation for sale, additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features a pair of electrically adjustable Sport Seats trimmed in black leather which extends to the dashboard, door panels, and rear seats. The driver-side seat bolster has been recently repaired and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly including the original Porsche CDR-220 radio. The factory specifications label lists the following equipment codes:
The naturally aspirated 3.4L flat-six engine delivers as much as 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. An upgraded Fabspeed exhaust system has been installed for increased power and sound, and the seller confirms the factory exhaust will accompany the sale. The upgraded IMS bearing is reported to have been serviced under the current ownership along with the replacement of the rear main seal, spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, fuel filter, water pump seals, and brake pads.
This sale will include a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean title. Featuring desirable and sporty factory options, this well serviced Carrera Coupe awaits its next owner.

Looks like a nice 996.1 coupe with all the right options. These are great drivers, anyone who thinks the 996 series is lacking either hasn’t driven one or is not being honest. They are great in every respect. The cable throttle and LSD were only on the 99 in US. LSD wasn’t available again until 40th AE in 2004. Appreciating driver will out smiles on your face and $ in the bank. A few years ago this was a 15k car. Look at prices now!
GLWA ??
As far as 996.1 go this one has it all. Good luck.

Comes with 1 key.
@Jhouston1911 Thanks for the info, I missed that. I’m sure this was mentioned as well but does the car come with 1 or 2 keys?
Hovig24, thanks for the questions. The clutch was replaced during the transmission rebuilt indicated in picture #134. The water pump, brakes and all recommended maintenance items were completed . All switches and gauges work as they should, there are no leaks or other services items needed. She is ready for a new owner.
I am interested in your car and have a few questions:
1) Is the clutch original and if so, what condition is it in?
2) Do all electronics/buttons work?
3) Was the water pump replaced after the recommendation from your mechanic?
4) Is there any maintenance items that will need to be addressed soon?
Thanks, Hovig

Yes cats are still on, cat back only.
Are the CAT's still on the car? In good old California it needs it. Thanks. Good looking car.
luis.seneriz: Thanks for coming by the house today to look at the 996 and sharing your knowledge on these vehicles. GLWTA
A friend and i saw the car today. It is in pretty good shape. The owner was super nice, his wife has a classic SS Camarillo, and he just got a 1974 black corvette with a big blower on it. Yes he likes muscle arms. Anyway I have a fabspeed exhaust on my car, the one that he got is louder than mine. The body is in great shape, brakes tires are good. I would buy this car.
Bid in the amount of $13,996

Thanks @Jhouston1911.
Rjcp1 Yes Sir, that is correct.
Beautiful spec on this car seller. Just to be sure I understand correctly - it sounds like an EPS IMS replacement bearing was installed by the previous owner, and under your ownership it was discovered that the EPS bearing was under-torqued when it was installed?
Picture of the upgraded EPS IMS has been loaded.
Thank you! I’ll reach out as well
L1MTD : The EPS IMS bearing replacement under previous ownership. I sent a photo of the IMS in with the submission, but it was not posted. Use the contact the seller tab and I can email you pictures of the EPS IMS. I will also ask PCAR to add this photo for everyone else to see. The shift cables were fine they just were not accustomed to seeing the zip ties on these cables. After researching and talking to local Porsche guys they said this was a normal practice on these cars for added safety. Picture 137 shows all the work I had done, with the exception of the driver bolster, wheel repair and ceramic coating.
I’m a bit confused on the write up compared to the documentation in the listing:
-it says the upgraded IMS was serviced but how do we know it’s been upgraded? Sounds like the last shop just resealed and tightened. No documentation on an upgraded IMS
-the documents state customer requested one valve cover gasket be replaced, not both.
-no mention in the documents of the fuel pump or water pump being done
-were the shift cables addressed?
-maybe I missed it but are there records for the brake pads being replaced?
If I missed all of this, I apologize
Good morning, everyone, my name is John and welcome to the auction of my 1999 Porsche. I am here to answer any of your questions and will reply in a timely manner to the best of my ability throughout the auction. I purchased this vehicle as an impulse buy as it was presented to me with a short window to decide. This is my first and only Porsche, my collection mainly consists of muscle cars and late 30's/40's classics. Although this is a great riding, driving car it's just not for me.
Man this one checks A LOT of boxes:
* 1999 Cable Throttle & LSD
* Black on Black
* Sport Seats
* Custom Exhaust
* Aero Package
* IMS done
….and with the mileage, you can drive it all day with no guilt & enjoy every mile -
GOOD LUCK
Can I ask why it’s being sold so quickly?
