Constructed in April 1998 for the 1999 model year, this early Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe is finished in Black Metallic over Black leather upholstery and equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Factory options include the desirable Aerokit, 18” Sport Classic wheels, a limited-slip differential, an automatic braking differential, traction control, and power-adjustable seats. Upgrades consist of H&R coilovers and Fister Motorsports Stage 1 mufflers, while major service since March 2021 included replacing the IMS bearing, timing chain sensor, rear main seal, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, release bearing, and tires. Showing just over 19k miles on the odometer, this 996.1 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.

The exterior was ordered in Black Metallic (L744) with an optional Aerokit (XAA) including GT3-style spoilers and side skirts. Equipment also includes an electric sunroof, dual polished exhaust outlets, and black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. The optional 18” Sport Classic wheels were fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires in March 2021. LED headlights were added, and front-end paint protection film was applied in September 2021. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Black interior features a matching Alcantara headliner and optional power-adjustable leather front seats with lumbar support and driver’s memory settings, along with leather rear seats. Additional options include a CD storage compartment and a Becker-Porsche CDR-210 stereo. Standard amenities consist of a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control, and cruise control. The driver’s window regulator was replaced in July 2023. A breakdown of the factory option codes is as follows:

  • L744 – Black Metallic paint
  • AY – Black leather
  • C02 – Version for USA
  • XAA – Aerokit
  • XRB – 18″ SportClassic two-piece wheels
  • 220 – Limited-Slip Differential
  • 222 – Traction control (ASR)
  • 224 – Automatic Braking Differential (ABD)
  • 234 – Unspecified production code related to tires
  • 424 – CD storage compartment
  • 437 – Eight-way power-adjustable seat, left
  • 438 – Eight-way power-adjustable seat, right
  • 513 – Power lumbar support, right
  • 537 – Seat position memory, left
  • 586 – Power lumbar support, left
  • 688 – Becker-Porsche CDR-210 stereo
  • 936 – Leather rear seats
  • 983 – Leather front seats

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine factory-rated at 296 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. Additional factory options include an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD) and Traction Control (ASR). The brakes were reportedly serviced in 2020, and the suspension was upgraded with H&R coilovers in September 2021. In March 2021, major services included the replacement of the IMS bearing, timing chain sensor, rear main seal, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, and release bearing. Additionally, Fister Motorsports Stage 1 mufflers were installed in September 2021. The reverse light switch was replaced in July 2023, and more recent service in September 2024 included an oil change and replacements of the air intake tube, mass airflow sensor, and oxygen sensors. The seller adds that the vehicle passed a California smog and emissions test on June 6, 2025, with the certificate remaining valid for 90 days.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “This is an early 996 with desirable factory options.”

@jeffreywyue46m3 I agree fully. The 996 has a very clean look but it is helped by the factory Aero Kit. I think people are finally appreciating these for their timeless aesthetic. This car is truly the most analog water-cooled 911 you can get. It gives vintage vibes at this point, while being modern enough to have things like working A/C and heat. I loved my 1977 911, but love this even more, for its drivability while also feeling old-school. And this has the full look of a 1999 Euro 996 GT3 at a fraction of the price.

Every time someone rags on the look of a 996 just show this car… looks unique but still a 911…. Especially how it drives.

@rickster Apologies, as those service photos were all submitted in the photos to PCarmarket. For some reason, they only included page 2 of 4 from Barnaba Autosport. Adding now...

Would you please post pics of the service work done; especially replacement of the IMS bearing, etc.
    Thanks!

BTW, on 9/7/24, CarFax shows a service I had done on the car. The receipt for that service (German Auto Care dated 7/11/24) is included in the photo gallery. Note that the mass flow sensor and a couple manifold tubes were replaced. Of course, CarFax isn't perfect, so their entry says "intake manifold replaced", which it wasn't. The intake manifold was removed for the other work and re-installed. Just thought that should be clarified, because it would seem odd for an actual manifold to "go bad".

Hello and welcome to the auction for my well-loved early-build 996! I want to be as helpful as possible and I pride myself on being completely transparent. I want all bidders, and especially the new owner, to have all available info to bid with confidence, so don't hesitate to ask anything! I hope you love this one as much as I do !
