This 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. Factory-equipped with the optional Power Seat Package, aluminum instrument dials, and Hi-Fi Sound Package, this 996 has also been modified with 18” Apex wheels, Ohlins coilovers, a Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust with headers, an IPD intake plenum, a Fabspeed cold air intake, Function First motor mounts, a Function First shift knob, a 997 shifter, and a Continental radio. It was acquired by the seller in 2022 and benefits from maintenance including an LN Engineering IMS bearing kit, a new rear main seal, flywheel, water pump, drive belt, and battery. Showing approximately 98k miles on the odometer, this Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Virginia.
The exterior is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and features custom white side stripes with blue Porsche logos. Equipment includes integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, an electric sunroof, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and chrome Fabspeed dual exhaust tips. The car rides on 18” APEX SM-10 wheels in race silver, measuring 8.5” wide in front and 11” wide at the rear. The seller indicates new tires were mounted in 2023 and 2024, and some signs of road-going wear are present around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with Metropol Blue leather upholstery, including color-coordinated carpets. Factory features include optional aluminum instrument dials, automatic climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, and the optional Hi-Fi Sound Package. It has been modified with a Function First shift knob, a 997 shifter, and a Continental radio. The seller notes some wear on the front seats.
Rated at 296 HP by the factory, the naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine features integrated dry-sump lubrication and cross-flow cylinder cooling. It drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, while stopping power is handled by fixed 4-piston brakes and cross-drilled discs at each corner. The car has been modified with a Fabspeed cold air intake, a BMC F1 air filter, an IPD intake plenum, a Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust with headers, 200-cell catalytic converters, Function First motor mounts, and adjustable Ohlins Road & Track coilovers. At 63k miles, an LN Engineering IMS bearing kit was installed along with a new flywheel and rear main seal. The water pump, thermostat, and drive belt were replaced at 68k miles, followed by new sway bar end links at 71k miles. Updated ignition coils, spark plugs, and a genuine front window regulator were installed at 80k miles. The brake pads and rotors were replaced at 91k miles, and a new battery was fitted at 94,800 miles. A service at 97k miles included front radiator cleaning, fresh brake fluid and engine oil, new strut mounts, and a cabin air filter.
This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, a car cover, Ohlins coilover documents, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “I made room in my garage for this car before I brought it home in August 2022. It was hot and I sweated a ton, but I’m glad I did it. I wanted it to be covered, and my wife even purchased a cover for it. Garage-kept and cared-for is how I’d describe it. Drives in this car were actually fun, and they often turned into something else. ‘What year is that? … I remember when my dad drove one like it… Beautiful car…’ I can’t tell you the # of times strangers would start conversations with me about this car. I even discovered that my good friends were happy for me after they saw me in it. They knew I worked hard and were genuinely joyful for me. Hopefully, after my youngest completes an out-of-state tuition degree, I can find another one like it. I hope you get as much from your experience in it as I did!”

@BidMD definitely on the IMS and I’m not sure on the flywheel. I’m away from my records and cannot check. I want to say yes it’s been done but I cannot for certain.

Sorry if I missed it, but do you have records of the IMS bearing and flywheel work? Last second question, I know...
BidMD - and since it is over 25 yrs young it is exempt from future emissions testing!

@BidMD - yes sir it has every time.

Hi Vido - I’m checking to see if this is documented in the paperwork I have. It took place prior to my purchase so I’m reliant upon what records I have. I do see a note stating it was an IDP plenum. Additionally I saw a post on Rennlist dated July of 22 stating this: ‘I added one a long time ago and I live in California. No issues’. No part specific info though. Hope that helps.
@MJJN chance you have specifics on the parts installed? the biggest question is with the cats. do you have the make and model for 200-cell catalytic converters? i can chase if they're ca carb compliant (also, there'd typically be a sticker to indicate). ca looks for custom intakes, cats when inspecting cars as the primary flags to question emissions. (IDP likely passes as they're a CA company but the model would be helpful too)
hopefully we can find some clarity ..appreciate it.
@ MJJN, the tool to pull the deviations is the Durametric, can’t do it with PIWIS 3 on the 99s.

@luis.seneriz - I do not have a ready answer to the cam deviations question but I did reach out to my local mechanic. If he’s able to shed any light I’ll definitely relay that information.
Urbanista - l see records indicating work was done on the clutch in February 2009. In my ownership (Aug 2022 to present) it has never been an issue.
@luis.seneriz thanks for the compliment on the car. The manufacture date is 1/99. I’ll add a photo from the drivers side door to the gallery.
@MJJN-dou you know when the clutch was last replaced or is it believed to be original? Thanks; very nice indeed.
What’s this car manufacture date? Can you provide cam deviations? Nice looking car.
@Einsteiger thanks for the comment Einsteiger. Tell one of your friends ! Porsche has built some amazing 911s since the 1999; but there is something special from a price point and a purity standpoint about these 996s.
@vido - I appreciate the comment on the striping. It’s similar to the UCLA blue. Having lived out in CA I wish I’d had this then. The PCH or some of the canyon roads down south or windy roads north in Napa or Sonoma would have been fun. Unfortunately I don’t have an answer on CA emissions. Surely 996s run well there but I can’t provide you a fact based answer. Sorry.
Hey there - the teal stripe is a great touch, especially sitting low. Are the Fabspeed cold air intake, a BMC F1 air filter, an IPD intake plenum, a Fabspeed X-pipe exhaust with headers, and 200-cell catalytic converters carb compliant for California? Will this car pass CA smog?
VERY nice. Good luck with the sale. I really enjoy my 1999 996 ;)
Hi everyone and thanks for taking a look at this good looking 996. It’s been my pleasure to drive this car - and make no mistake it is a drivers dream and not a garage queen. Enjoy the pictures and I hope one of you will want this in your garage. I’ll definitely seek to answer any of your questions. Again thanks for taking a look - you’ll definitely enjoy a drive more!
