Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black leather interior, this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Coupe pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine. It has been modified with BBS Motorsport E88 wheels, Euro Porsche 996 GT3 Recaro seats, Pascha seat inserts, a body-color roll cage, a MOMO steering wheel, RUF interior appointments, and more. Mechanically, a Flat6 Motorsports intake, CSF Performance radiators, a Top Gear race cat X-pipe, a Fister exhaust, Bilstein B8 struts, and H&R springs have been fitted. Showing approximately 67k miles on the odometer, this modified Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Utah.
This example comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and rides on aftermarket BBS Motorsport E88 wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from December 2022. Front-end paint protection film has been applied, and the rear badge has been removed. The seller notes minor road wear on the front-end protection film, a small touch-up area on the front bumper, and two slight paint imperfections on the rear bumper. The factory-specified 18” 996 Sport Classic wheels are said to accompany the sale. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the black upholstered cabin has been modified with Euro Porsche 996 GT3 Recaro fixed-back bucket seats, adorned with Porsche-crested headrests and Pascha front seat inserts. Customizations also include a body-color roll cage, a MOMO steering wheel, a 997 GT3 shifter, a 993-derived headliner, RUF pedals, RUF floor mats, and a fire extinguisher. Minimal bolster wear is noted. All gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order, except for the blinker stalk's automatic disengage switch. The seller notes the underside of the hood is signed by industry icons including Magnus Walker, Jay Leno, Johnny Lieberman, and more. The car's original interior components are also included in the sale.
A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Modifications include a Flat6 Motorsports intake, resonator delete, CSF Performance Radiators, Top Gear race cat X-pipe, Fister mod with Tequipment exhaust tips, Bilstein B8 struts, and H&R springs. The seller notes that the Vario Cam guide pads and the camshaft in bank #2 have been replaced in preparation for the sale after a seal was dislodged during service. It is reported that an IMS retrofit was installed by the original owner, although no documentation has been provided. However, the seller has included the following service items:
This sale will include a clean title, the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, sales literature, and original interior parts.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for checking out this auction. This car came to me from a great client and is really something special. Meticulously cared for and purpose-built to enjoy on the twisty roads. The sound it makes is not the typical raspy mid-range tone. It has this low grumble that comes alive as you get into those higher rev ranges. The suspension is balanced and tight yet still soft and forgiving. No creaks or squeaks come when articulating over a threshold or bump. It’s just a really well-kept car that’s eager to live with someone who's looking to drive.”

@TheCanyoncarver I am not quite as confident in the canyons as you are my friend but I resonate everything you say. Car is flat and confident in the corners and the power band is super smooth all the way up. Evan, you put a lot of time and care into how you did things and it shows on this build.
Obviously I don’t own the car anymore so I have no dog in this fight but I will say that this is hands down one of the nicest 996.1s in the country. The paint work is over the top. Had a 4 day detail from @bayareadetail (the award winner detailer in the SF Bay Area) who has many concours winners under his belt. The very biggest names in the automotive space have signed the hood including Jay Leno, Magnus Walker, Alois Ruf, and the CEO of Singer (Maz). The car has been appreciated by thousands and was/is well loved. I bought it from the original owner at a car meet in Malibu and it’s been throughly enjoyed at Monterey car week, Malibu canyons, and countless car meets. Bid with confidence, would love for it to go to a great home. Cheers!

@URS6 I can count on one hand the amount of people who object to you having two 996's... I have no hands.
@MorrisBrothersRyan I have a similarly built 996.2, but there are things on this car I want on mine and vice versa. Wish I could combine the two!
@TheCanyoncarver I figured you'd find your way here. Thank you for the details! Didn't have the opportunity to put it on a lift so laying on the ground with a tape measure clearly wasn't working
@MorrisBrothersRyan I built the car @thecanyoncarver on IG. Wheels were off of a 996 GT3 and are
18x9 et 44, 235 40 18
18x11 et 63, 285 40 18
@zachlangan I don't know the offset but I can tell you fronts are 9" wide with 1.5" lips and backs are 10" wide with 2" lips. Also, @urs6 I apologize, I am not sure how I got 12" for the rear but it is most certainly 10.
Do you have additional specs on the wheels... widths and offsets for front and rear? Thanks
Hey All! Welcome to the last day of the auction. I will be monitoring comments closely to get quick answers to you all. Reminder, this car comes with the full factory interior, catalytic converters and wheels/tires. Car can be brought back to mostly stock aside from engine and suspension work. GT3 seats sell on secondary market between $5k-7k and BBS Wheels around $7-8k.

Thanks @MorrisBrothersRyan.
@URS6 They are 12" wide in the rear. The seats would have to be loosened to be adjusted, no sliders included.
@DGI I have added two new photos to the gallery. It appears as though you could adjust the seat back a bit more by loosening the mounting bolts and utilizing the available space but that looks to be about it. I just sat in it again and my leg is completely extended to depress the clutch as a 5'11" person.

Nicely sorted indeed. Two questions: Those seats should be on manual sliders correct? They aren't bolted directly to the floor are they? Second, are the rear BBS wheels 10" wide or 11" wide? (guessing 10"). Thanks!
Bid in the amount of $14,246
Does it look like the seats could be moved back so a 6’6” driver could fit but still retain the roll bar?
@aaroneous Well I am 5'11" and it fits me perfectly. Leg doesn't come completely straight when clutching in but not scrunched
Approximately how tall a driver do the fixed seats seem to be set up for? Thank you!

@midwestcj I just looked at the car and the mounts look to be in unmodified positions. I will attach photos to the listing. Interior can be put back 100% with no signs of the cage.
@midwestcj I will get that answered for you tomorrow 👍
Is the roll cage mounted to factory points, meaning if you remove it there will no be remaining damage?
@DGI thanks for the comment. Unfortunately these are fixed position seats so would have to be manually adjusted to your preferred driving position. I do find that they sit lower than a factory 996 seat
Bid in the amount of $13,996
What sliders are on the seats? Does the current setup sit lower and/or further back than stock? I had a 99 996 and in its lowest, furthest rearward position it was just adequate for me at 6’6”

Update on the IMS Bearing. Good News, I was able to get on the phone with the original owner, he is not in great health but enjoyed talking to me about his old car. He confirmed for me that the IMS bearing was done at R2 Motorsports in Castaic, CA (just outside Santa Clarita) The answer came easy like it was pre-loaded which surprised me based on his condition. The bad news is, I called R2 Motorsports and the records that they have don't go back far enough to confirm this information. - For what its worth, the guy had no reason to lie to me and explained that he had over 18 Porsches in his life and this one was a good one. He's unhappy with the modifications that were done and told me to put it back. - Cheers Ryan

@Woodrm64 I will do what I can
Yes, thank you for trying to find out more about the IMS retrofit, including when, which manufacturer, and who did the work. A receipt would be really helpful if you can swing it.

Hello All, Welcome to the auction for this beautiful and well known 996 C2. I am happy to answer as many questions as I can. I will also be providing links to a cold start video and vehicle walk-around shortly. I have also made an attempt to contact the original owner in hopes of confirming the IMS retrofit. Happy Bidding! - Ryan
@gaiakai It is a well sorted car and I knew the internet would be quick to recognize it.
@wab_jr I hear you, they can certainly be stiffened from where they are now but I am more referring to the way the bumps transfer to your seat. Not a sharp BANG if that makes sense.
First time I’ve ever seen B8’s described as “soft”. I’ve got them on my 996 turbo & had them on my 996 C2 before I went full GT3 suspension. They certainly improve the handling along with the mandatory lowering springs but I’d be more inclined to say “firm” rather than soft.
I can sneak one more silver car in without my wife catching on…
It’s FRYEGG! Very well sorted car, GLWA!
