Pairing a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.4-liter flat-six engine, this 1999 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet comes finished in Arena Red Metallic over Graphite Grey leather. It also features the HiFi Sound Package and a remote CD changer along with upgraded later-model 996 wheels, 997 seats, an FVD Brombacher exhaust, FVD Sport X-design 200-cell catalytic converters, an FVD IPD plenum, a Porsche short-shift kit, and more. Fortified with an IMS bearing and clutch service, this example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York, with just over 68k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera is finished in Arena Red Metallic with a black convertible soft top and includes a body-color hardtop. Notable features include a speed-activated rear spoiler, headlamps with integrated fog lights, power-heated side mirrors, and black alloy brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. It rides on upgraded 18” light alloy Carrera wheels sourced from a 996.2, fitted with tires from 2021 and 2020 that reportedly retain over 50% tread life. The seller notes minor scratches, paint chips, and small imperfections on the wheels, as well as on the headlight and taillight lenses. There is moderate discoloration of the rear plastic window and minor abrasion on the soft top fabric. Additionally, the driver’s side roll bar cover and button covers for the hardtop mount are missing. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin presents Graphite Grey leather upholstered seats with light grey contrasts. Equipment includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an onboard computer, automatic climate control, and a CD changer. The seller notes minor scratches on the seating surfaces and a broken passenger seat wire. The cruise control is currently inoperable, and there is an intermittent issue where the ignition remains engaged after the key is removed.
A naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 296 HP and 258 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. Enhancements include an FVD Brombacher Sport-Sound muffler with FVD Sport X-design 200-cell catalytic converters, an FVD IPD plenum, and a Porsche short-shift kit. Stopping power has been upgraded with Girodisc lightweight two-piece floating rotors and EBC Redstuff brake pads. In 2021, at 59,000 miles, the dual-row IMS bearing and clutch were serviced. The suspension was also largely refurbished with OEM or OEM+ components.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a factory Arena Red Metallic-finished hard top.
The seller would like you to know: “This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is an exceptional opportunity to get into a drop-top Carrera that has been sorted with the enthusiast driver in mind. While most driver-oriented builds start with the coupe platforms, this one began life as a stock, southern-owned, and gently driven manual-transmission cabriolet. The current owner took the approach of massaging the best out of the existing platform without compromising refinement and comfort. And with an open pocketbook.... The highest quality FVD Brombacher components were used for the exhaust and intake. The suspension was completely refurbished, and lovely/compliant Koni Special Active dampers were used. Girodisc front 2-piece floating brake rotors were added to reduce unsprung weight (nearly 5 pounds per corner). Along with an IMS and clutch service, more than $17k was spent on this well-loved Carrera Cabriolet since the current owner took possession of the car in September of 2021. All the service work was performed at Speedwerk NY, an excellent independent Porsche service specialist. While there are many well-loved 996 cabs, this one is particularly well maintained and sorted like few I've seen. If you're a focused driver considering cabriolets, this may be the one to have.”

Thank you for participating in the auction. I'm looking forward to receiving additional offers on the car. I'll be adding hardtop photos which were accidentally omitted. Also, SPEEDWERK has told me the sticking ignition has been fixed. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have seen this car which is presently located at the shop that maintains my race car. The car is very nice and as presented. Still a head turner at 25!
I'm planning to take a few more photos and some video during the coming week. I'm open to requests if you'd like a particular angle!
@luis.seneriz Thank you for the bid and the helpful comment. I did not realize how early this car's build was until you and a client made me aware of it. I appreciate your 3.8l airbox insight, too.
Bid in the amount of $9,961
July 98 early car here. Interesting use of a 997 air box. The 997 Carrera S 3.8 air box is the one to get. Anyway this is the most analog watercool porsche driving experience. Great color combo.
Thank you for participating in this PCARMARKET auction for a 1999 Porsche Carrera Cabriolet with a 6-speed manual transaxle. This is a largely southern-owned Carrera and the undercarriage is almost completely absent of corrosion and undue wear. 3 careful owners and no accidents are documented in the CARFAX report. This Porsche has been with the most recent owner since 2021. In his care the car has been treated to more than $17k in work including a complete suspension overhaul and the best available aftermarket performance parts including FVD exhaust, FVD cats, 3.6l intake and FVD plenum. This car breathes exceptionally well and with a sensible tune could easily produce another 20 whp. It's a spirited car and a joy to drive. While most performance minded Porsche owners would start with a coupe, this build is refreshingly unique and totally involving. With the top down and at higher revs, the full-song of the 3.4l engine is made available for your listening pleasure. Please message me to see and drive the car in the coming week. I'll be available in Nyack, starting Tuesday, to show the car. Thank you
