Based upon the chassis of a Z3 roadster with a roof added for structural rigidity and improved handling, the Z3 M Coupe sports an unmistakable design that has become affectionally referred to by enthusiasts as the “clown shoe”. It features brakes and an S52 engine borrowed from the E36 M3 along with a firm sport-tuned suspension and M-specific bodywork. This 1999 M Coupe is one of only 355 examples to have come finished in Imola Red and features an upgraded Dinan intake and exhaust. A future classic and one of the most sought-after BMWs of the modern era, this one-owner M Coupe is now being offered for auction out of California showing just under 80k miles on the odometer.
The M Coupe is characterized by its fixed-roof hatchback design and includes wider fenders than a Z3 Roadster along with unique bumpers, fender grilles, mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. This example comes finished in Imola Red and rides on factory 17″ Style 40 wheels. A Dinan badge has been added to the rear hatch and the car features optional white direction indicator lights. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Sand Beige Oregon leather with Sport Seats, a black multifunction M Sport steering wheel, M-logo door sills, and chrome-trimmed instrument gauges unique to the M model. Other features include an illuminated ZHP-style shift knob, heated front seats, air conditioning, power windows, an electric sunroof, a rear cargo net, and a Harmon-Kardon sound system paired with an original BMW Business CD stereo.
The M Coupe shares its 3.2-liter S52 inline-six engine with the E36 M3, delivering up to 240 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The engine sound and performance have been upgraded with a Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake and stainless steel exhaust. The CARFAX report shows an overhaul of the cooling system completed in 2017 at 78,827 miles as well as the most recent recorded service in October 2021 at 79,509 miles and a passed California emissions inspection in August 2022.

I'm interested in this vehicle, but have some of the same concerns as @123floor and @Larry1962. The seller is a dealer and not responding to these issues. The lack of engagement doesn't leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling....
Do you know what stage the Dinan mods are? With out the Exaust, my roadster is a stage 4, the throttle body would have also been upgraded( larger bor) my roadster was boosted 50 hp. With the Dinan mod. The S52 is a blast to drive even in a roadster.
Hello seller, please see my comment below. Are you able to let us know if any of these common issues have been addressed? Thanks again

Beautiful car! Curious if the seller can speak to the common clown shoe points of weakness ie has the subframe been reinforced, anything done to improve the engine cooling system, have the seats turned into rocking chairs, saggy glove box fixed, leaky rear view mirror, any other notable maintenance done? Thanks! Glwts!
