With design harking back to Porsche’s historic open-top Spyder race cars, the original 986 Boxster model remains a favorite amongst drivers for its excellent handling and daily usability. This 1998 example comes finished in the rarely seen color of Ocean Blue Metallic over a Graphite Grey interior and features optional traction control systems as well as a 5-speed manual transmission. It was acquired by the seller from its longtime previous owner during the Fall of 2022 and has since received a new clutch and IMS bearing. Driven approximately 97k miles, this 986 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Iowa.
This 986 is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic with a black cabriolet top and upgraded 17” Sport Classic wheels dressed in BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 tires. Other details include silver-painted front grilles, integrated side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and a central exhaust outlet. Some minor scratches and dings are noted throughout the exterior as well as imperfections in the clear coat on the front end. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Graphite Grey interior includes power-operated seats, windows, and mirrors as well as automatic climate control, cruise control, and a sound system. Aftermarket speakers have been installed along with a JVC Bluetooth radio and upgraded Blaupunkt amplifier. The cover is missing from the driver’s side vanity mirror and a tear on the driver’s seat has been covered with tape. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
A mid-mounted 2.5-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission. This Boxster was optioned with Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR) and Automatic Braking Differential (ABD) traction control systems. The seller states a new clutch and IMS bearing have been installed under their ownership in addition to a routine oil change.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Tight drive, quiet, and doesn't creek. Bought the car in the fall as a weekend driver. Great for cruising with the top down, has been stored inside.”

@Jerem76 Unfortunately I don't have any paper work on the work. And the writers for this add got it wrong. The gentleman I purchased the car from last year actually did the work himself and did give me receipts for the parts which I of course can't find but was satisfied after visiting with him in his home shop and driving the car. Almost always when those bearings fail it happens before the 97,000 mile mark and driving this car for just a few miles going through the gears, stopping, starting etc., it's very obvious the work has been done. Hope this helps, thanks.
I cannot see anything about new clutch and IMS bearing replacement in the carfax, do you have any bills about it?

Great running fun car to drive. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, good luck!
