Up for auction is this solid 1998 Boxster 5-speed presented in Arctic Silver over a Boxster Red leather interior. Introduced in late 1996 as Porsche’s premier mid-engine roadster, the Boxster has earned recognition among enthusiasts for its spritely handling and responsive ride. Having been cared for by its current owner for the past four years, this 1998 example shows approximately 42k miles on the odometer and is now being offered for auction in excellent overall condition by a seller in New York.
The Arctic Silver finish on this Boxster is said to be in fantastic original condition with the only flaws listed as minor road going wear and some slight headlamp yellowing. The seller believes that the car still retains its factory original paint and confirms that all body panels are original to the car. This Boxster rides on factory 5-spoke wheels which come wrapped in 2-year old Dunlop Direzza tires. A very well-preserved example, this Boxster has clearly been properly cared for.
Inside, this Boxster is configured with a stunning Boxster Red leather interior that highlights power operated seats in leather. The interior is reported to be in fantastic condition with only slight wear to the passenger seat-back, as outlined in the photo gallery. All gauges, electrical components, and accessories are reported to be fully functional. This Boxster comes equipped with the following factory options.
This Boxster carries a naturally aspirated 2.5 L flat-six engine rated at about 200 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a crisp 5-speed manual transmission making for a truly connected driving experience. A few sought-after performance upgrades include a deep sump oil baffle kit, K&N air filter, stainless steel brake lines, and Sebro slotted front rotors that are paired with Hawk HP Plus brake pads. The seller states that this car is in excellent running condition and with a few DE events and road trips, is properly broken in. Having recently received an oil change, brake fluid flush, new ignition coils, spark plugs and more, this Boxster is just waiting to be enjoyed by a new owner.
The sale of this 1998 Boxster will include documentation, two sets of keys, a clean Carfax report and some service records. This vehicle is offered with a clear title in-hand and stands ready for prompt delivery to its next owner. Presented in above-average condition, this Boxster makes a great addition to anyone enthusiast’s garage.

@Jb423 whenever not wherever! If that we’re the case I’d be enjoying it in Europe!
@JRBuzzetta You say you can get it to wherever you need to. Annapolis? Ha
@JRBuzzetta Just coordinating with a shipper.
@Jb423 in what way do you need assistance with the shipping? I have it indoors in a storage place but can get to it whenever I need to.

@JRBuzzetta Thanks for getting back again. Can you assist with shipping? How long before you would need it removed? Is it garaged?
@Jb423 Also I believe the 2.5L has the dual-row IMS bearing which was considered more reliable than the later single row on the later engines.
@Jb423 That's what I've heard as well, it's a gamble I took with not knowing and it worked well for me. I'm just looking to be at where these cars are more commonly trading for, I would advise anyone to bid up to their comfort level and any reasonable bid will be considered.
@JRBuzzetta Thanks for getting back. I think that when that bearing problem happens, there is no warning and the result is devastating. I believe that I would need to have the bearing replaced for peace of mind. Can you give me an idea of where you are regarding price?
@Jb423 I think so, I have no service records prior to my ownership so I’m not 100% sure. All I can say is I’ve driven the car consistently (minus winter) for over 4 years with no problems minus the MAF sensor and a battery.
Original IMS bearing?
