It is our pleasure to present this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in Black over a black interior. Featuring the widebody of the Turbo model while offering naturally aspirated rear-wheel-drive performance, this 993 Carrera 2S remains one of the most sought-after air-cooled Porsches on the road. This 1998 example showcases exclusive factory aluminum details throughout the cabin as well as an upgraded Bilstein PSS10 coil-over suspension, short shifter, and Porsche Classic Radio. Now with under 30k miles showing on the odometer and a new clutch recently installed, this impeccable C2S is being offered for auction by its seller out of Washington.
The timeless Black finish on this 993 is described to be in pristine original condition, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX. The 993 Carrera S features a unique split-grille rear decklid and shares the wide fenders of the Turbo model along with its 18” twist wheels. Optional features on this example include Litronic headlights and oval chrome exhaust pipes. The Michelin Pilot Sport tires are dated from 2019 and new sunroof seals are said to accompany the sale.
Inside, the black interior is reported to be in excellent condition with an updated Porsche 996 3-spoke steering wheel and a newly installed Porsche Classic Radio. The original steering wheel and radio are said to be included in the sale and all gauges and accessories are stated to be working properly aside from the mechanism to fold the driver’s seat forward. This example was factory-equipped with exclusive details including aluminum instrument dials, an aluminum/leather shift knob and parking brake handle, and metal door sills with model insignias. Other factory features include a remote 6-disc CD changer, a sunroof, the Hi-FI Sound System, automatic speed control, and Comfort Seats.
This 993 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6 L flat-six Varioram engine that is capable of sending 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein PSS10 coil-overs and the seller recently installed a short shift kit along with FD Motorsports Golden Rod shift linkage. A major service is said to have been performed in April of 2020 and the seller states that the clutch was newly replaced in 2021. All other routine service items are said to have been addressed and this 993 is reported to be in strong driving condition.
This sale will include the original toolkit, air pump, floor mats, and a clean title (in transit). It is also said to be accompanied by the original steering wheel and radio as well as new sunroof seals. Considered by many to be the ultimate iteration of the air-cooled 911, this 993 C2S would make a perfect addition to any world-class Porsche collection.

I noticed a very important and positive feature about this collectible worthy 993 C2S is that it came with motor sound package and combined with the exhaust sound package it makes a really beautiful air cooled exhaust note. Once you rev it pass 4K RPM, you feel like there is harmony music coming out of the engine area.

For the past week, there has been many comments posted on Facebook in a 993 Porsche group (which I’m a member of) about how beautiful and very sorted this 993 C2S is and most of the members agree that this 993 is worth north of $130K in today’s prices. We all know that the Porsche 993 are extremely hot these days and very low mileage examples like this C2S are very high in demand and they’re becoming very rare and extremely hard to find.
Bid in the amount of $90,000
Title update: Now in hand.

@HillClimber72 Thank you.
@JAB12 Recently installed stock exhaust and under carriage pics now posted. thank you
@HillClimber72 thanks!
@AstroP59 No I did not have a PPI/compression done on the car. With the recent major service and 29k miles I didn't see it as necessary. I did have someone local to the car look it over and test drive it for me. It was at that point that the clutch felt like it needed to be replaced so the previous owner went ahead and took care of it before delivery. The kind of transaction I like.
Since you just purchased in 12/2020 did you have a PPI conducted and do you have compression and leak down test results?
@Enthusiast Yes, the state of Montana has Issued Certificate of Title to me and it is currently in transit (via Fed Ex) to me. I should have it before end of Auction. Thank you.
Beautiful car! Can you explain the Title In Transit issue please?
Eagerly watching this car as I have it's twin in tip tronic
@carcher@archerhldgs.com @cbsales.com yes, send me a message and we can set something up.
Can We set up to have someone come by and inspect car before bidding?
Very nice car, I have a 997.1 and have always wanted a C2S 993!!
@JAB12 It is option X71 on the options code sticker." Alu-look instrument dials with chromed rings"
@dmccart812 I have owned the car since December 2020. I've owned four air cooled 911 Turbos. Some people like n/a others prefer turbos. I've decide I'm just more of a Turbo fan even though I believe the 993 wide body, sans wing, is probably the best looking 911 ever made, all just my opinion of course.
@JAB12 Correct, when the aluminum dial upgrade was completed the Carrera S script was lost is my understanding as well.
@Docmikecaruso With the Aluminum dial upgrade option the 'Carrera S' script may have been lost.
Bid in the amount of $63,666
Gorgeous car! These wide body 993s are on fire right now! Can't wait to see where it ends up. I've got a black and cashmere 993 C4S and I love it to death, they're great cars!
How long have you owned the car for? Thanks
The factory S is missing from the tach please explain? What a nice auto!
Bid in the amount of $62,000
These 993 S and 4S are extremely fun to drive and they’re very high in demand and very hot these days specially among the 911 air cooled enthusiasts. A highly specked and optioned Black 993 C2S with 60k miles sold today in another car auction site for $140K ($135K purchase price and plus $5K to the site).
@HillClimber72 Got it, did not know it was Fister III, I incorrectly assumed it was Fister II
@MSQ Just really not a fan of Fister III's. A little too loud.
@HillClimber7 Curious, what prompted you to replaced the Fisters with stock exhaust?
@HillClimber72 OK. I’ll wait for answer to the other questions through the service paperwork review when you post it tomorrow.
@JAB12 No problem, and will do.
@HillClimber72 thank you for clarifying RE exhaust. Please post photos of current condition of the car in the undercarriage as well including area under newly installed stock exhaust. Thanks.
@MSQ The cold start was filmed just a few days ago with the stock exhaust. Thank you for asking!
@HillClimber72 So is the start-up/idle in that same video that was taken in January before the Fister exhaust was swapped out?
@JAB12 You are correct, good eye. I didn't notice that myself. That video was taken in January when the clutch was being replaced. The same invoice shows that stock mufflers were installed. As I said, this invoice will be posted. Thank you.
I have a 97 C2S and just love it! Great car, can we see some pics of the Ford GT lurking behind in the garage???
@JAB12 A major service was performed on the car in April 2020 and detailed records will be posted. The clutch along with rubber seal ring for timing chain cover was replaced in 01-21, also will be posted.
The red S was installed to enhance the aesthetic of the car and is purely subjective to various peoples taste. If you look at the paint meter reading for picture #56 it is just above the 'S'. Picture # 57 is also the engine deck lid but in between the rear glass and the split grill. Happy to take more photos of this area if you wish.
The car is currently titled and registered in Montana.
@HillClimber72 At 1:22 on your video, top left corner of the screen that is the blue marking of Fister exhaust. Please check. Video is good but Undercarriage photos will help clarify. Thank you.
@HillClimber72 I’ve read the Ad. Questions come from insufficient information on the Ad to make an informed bid. When you post the records hopefully they provide the answers. At such low mileage there are items that should be in good order such as engine sound pad which is detaching from bay. A pad keeper would not be a bad idea. Also what is the age of the belts? Thank you.
@Nfldcoffee Under the fender lip to the road is 24.5" at all four corners.
@AstroP59 Also, no rust on the car.
@AstroP59 If you watch the video posted on the ad you will see the undercarriage is presented.
@1966corvette As the ad states paintwork is believed to be in pristine original condition, no visible signs of paintwork. Invoices for maintenance will be uploaded tomorrow. Unfortunately I do not have the original window sticker. I do have the original owners manual and will post a picture. The exhaust on the car is factory. Thank you.
@Hillclimber72 Nice GT in the background.
Can you please post the service paperwork of the work done to this car? The multiple owners (8) explain why you would have to replace the clutch at such short mileage but it would be good to see what other recent service work has been done to the car.
Also, the red ‘S’ is an aftermarket item. Why was the rear emblem replaced? Can you please post paint meter reading photos of that area of the rear lid?
When was the last time and mileage that the valve cover gaskets were replaced on this car? Since clutch was done what other “while you are in there” items were addressed? Again, legible photos of the service record documents will be very helpful.
Lastly the car’s Dec 2020 service is from Reno, Nevada, yet you are offering the car out of Seattle, WA. Where is the car titled? Interested in scheduling an inspection prior to bidding. Thank you.
Bid in the amount of $60,000
What the car’s road height? Can you measure the height just under the fender lips front and rear to road, Thanks
Bid in the amount of $55,000
This looks like a great car! Wished I had the room in garage, best to the bidders.
Do you have more pictures of the undercarriage? Is there rust anywhere on the car?
Has any paint work been done?
Are you going to post copies of paperwork? Invoices, window sticker etc?
Owners manual?
Please explain exhaust work in photo.
I
Hello everyone! Someone please grab this beautiful car before I change my mind ;)
