Up for auction is this collector-grade 1998 993 Carrera S with Aerokit package.  The 993 holds a special place in Porsche history as being the last air-cooled 911 ever produced.  Designed from the ground up carrying only 20% of its parts from prior models, the 993 is also lauded as a massive technological and aesthetic leap for the 911.  Originally a European delivery car, this stunning example was eventually transported to California where it would remain for approximately seven years.  After spending some time in Missouri and Florida, the car was then purchased by its current owner/collector who resides in Kittery, Maine.  Only 2k miles are stated to have been driven in the last three years.  Very well maintained and sparingly driven, this 993 now displays just 12k miles on the odometer and is being offered for auction in exceptional condition.

Finished in timeless Arctic Silver Metallic, this 993 sports an extremely desirable factory Aerokit package that consists of a Turbo S rear wing and upgraded front and rear facias.  The installation was professionally installed in 2005.  This car’s forward body panels had previously been protected by paint protection film before the current owner removed it for a detail only 30 miles ago, thus exposing beautifully preserved paint.  This 993 rides on flawless OEM 18” lightweight hollow-spoke Technology wheels that come wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires from 2008.  Aftermarket H&R springs give this car an aggressive lowered stance while improving handling and preserving ride quality.  Overall, this tastefully configured and low-mileage C2S shows exceptionally well.  The seller does note that some minor stone chips are present, however, the exterior remains clean and virtually free of unsightly imperfections.

Inside, this 993 has been thoughtfully optioned with a gray/black partial leather interior.  The owner confirms that this interior is in exceptional condition, bearing virtually no signs of wear aside from slight creasing on the drivers seat bolster.  Factory options included on the $82,443 original build sheet consist of power operated seats, sunroof, and Hifi sound package.  The owner has installed tasteful aluminum doorsills with Carrera script (original components will be included in sale).  This 993 comes complete with the original Becker radio as well as fully functional accessories and electronics, a truly well-preserved example.

Equipped with a robust 3.6L naturally aspirated engine, this 993 S puts out over 280HP to the rear wheels by way of a crisp and highly desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  0-60 is achieved in around 5 seconds and top speeds of over 170 have been recorded.  The factory motor sound package and an upgraded Fabspeed Maxflo stainless-steel exhaust system, both the performance and engine sound of this 993 are enhanced.  A comprehensive service history indicates that this 993 had its front brake rotors, wheel carriers, and wheel bearings replaced in 2010 and received an oil and filter change in June of 2018.  The car is stated to be in excellent running condition.

Included in the sale of this low-mileage 993 are all associated books, two keys, trunk tools, jack, maintenance records and documentation including the original window sticker.  A clean Carfax report confirming this as a mechanically sound and accident free vehicle will also be provided.  One of the very last air-cooled 911’s to leave the factory at Stuttgart, this 993 Aerokit is a true piece of Porsche history and is ready to be enjoyed for years to come.

Looks like a very nice example, its been a while since I have seen a nice lower-mile one of these. Looks like most on the market are the higher mile cars that people are trying to unload. This is a keeper for sure.

@550bryan thanks for your comment . Porsche has a tourist delivery program, where you can pick your new Porsche up at the factory .This was how the car was delivered to the original owner. You get temp tags etc. and can enjoy your car for a bit in Europe. The car is and was built as a US model. Once your vacation picking up your new car ends you fly back home and your car get shipped to your local dealer where you purchased it from and then you pick it up there. Sorry for any confusion concerning European delivery but it’s just Porsche tourist delivery. Which by the way sounds like an awesome time I know several people who have done it .

  • 550bryan (registered bidder) 5 years, 1 monthago

As a European delivered car with a speedometer calibrated on kilometers, how was that addressed when brought to the US? Does it have the original odometer or has it been changed?

@jlhoyt Thanks for the questions. I think the car has very few if any but I didn't want to say it was perfect. There are close ups of the bumpers, doors rear quarters, etc . If these don't work let me know and I'll search the car and take pics of any I can find. Yes, the A/C blows nice and cold .

  • jlhoyt (registered bidder) 5 years, 2 monthsago

Seller - got a couple question for you....

The description mentioned stone/rock chips....is it possible to get a few pics of the location and how bad they are?

Is the A/C still blowing cold air?
