Representing the very end of production for the air-cooled Porsche 911, this 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 is one of only 1,201 Cabriolets built for North America in the 993’s final model year. This example comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Boxster Red leather interior and pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its 3.6-liter flat-six. It was generously factory-optioned with pleated leather seats, the Motor Sound Package, a limited-slip differential, traction control, and more. Showing approximately 48k miles on the odometer, this 993 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania.
This example comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black soft top and rides on 18” Turbo Twist-style wheels dressed in Continental ExtremeContact tires from 2022. Other equipment includes a speed-activated rear spoiler, heated and power-operated mirrors, integrated front fog lights, dual exhaust outlets, and black brake calipers with white Porsche lettering. The seller adds that the convertible top is fully functional and has been reversibly converted for manual operation, the wheels have been refinished with a machined lip and dark grey spokes, and paint protection film covers the front end. Minor signs of road wear are noted on the front end along with license plate holes on the front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Boxster Red interior features optional pleated leather front & rear seats along with a leather dashboard & door panels. Traction control was also opted for, while standard equipment includes power windows, a central locking system, automatic climate control, electrically height-adjustable front seats, cruise control, and a Blaupunkt Bremen Bluetooth radio. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly.
The air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine features a Varioram resonant induction system and delivers up to 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Optional equipment includes a limited-slip differential (LSD) with 40% lock, an automatic braking differential (ABD), and the Motor Sound Package which provides a more aggressive tone with a louder airbox and mufflers. Stopping power is provided by 4-piston vented disc brakes with ABS. The seller adds that a Bilstein B12 suspension has been added along with 7mm wheel spacers up front and 15mm out back.
This sale will include a clean title and a toolkit.

I just uploaded a picture of the original targa wheels that this 993 was ordered with. They will be included with the purchase as well as the turbo twists that are on the car.

I though I should chime in here on this car. My shop Performance Automotive Inc and we have cared for this car for the past two owners over the course of 12 years. This car is a fine example of a unmolested 993 Cab. It has no stories or excuses, it is very original and both previous owners always kept it up meticulously with the service and maintance needs. This car drives better than new. Great color combo as well! Bid with confidence as this car will not disappoint.
Beautiful 911
Not too far for me to pick up in person and drive home
I hope to be in the mix for sure tomorrow

I know this car and its seller..... he has fawned over this 993 and spent freely in fully sorting this car. Full service at Performance Automotive, Top, Tires, wheels and suspension have all been upgraded or replaced. The next owner is going to get a no-needs low mile 993.
@WGris thank you. It is a 993, so it probably drips. But I have a very clean floor and I haven’t seen drips.
I will be uploading the service records tomorrow.
Pretty 993. Any leaks, drips or seepage?
@edanetz the meter readings that are in the fives are the front drivers fender. I don’t see any evidence of paint work though. I see what you mean in certain pictures how it looks darker but it looks like because the sun doesn’t hit the panel between the wheel and the drivers door as that kind of faces backwards.
Looking at the same pictures on the passenger side show the same kind of shadows and those numbers are in the fours. I believe that if it were painted the numbers would be 10+.
Can you confirm that the front drivers side 1/4 panel has been painted? It shows darker in pics vs the drivers door. I saw the meter pics, but can’t decipher the panel with higher depth. Thanks

Did I miss paint depth measurements?
I can give first hand knowledge on converting the 993 top to manual operation. I did the exact steps in the Rennlist article (loosening the two 19mm nuts) about 2 years ago on my '95 cab and will never go back to automatic operation. The manual top is extremely easy to use without the worry of the top breaking mid cycle, bending the frame if a cable breaks, getting stuck with a broken top in a rainstorm, etc. And it's completely reversible if you want to convert it back to an automatic top.
@artichoke here is a thread about it
https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/212962-convert-cab-top-to-manual-operation.html
@EricC Correct. We do wheel refinishing and machining in house. So if the winning buyer would like a different color, it can be done.
Thanks - I assume the hollow TT's were refinished in two-tone?
@tkasser Thanks!!!!!!
I wish Porsche built this car with a manual roof!!! After 26 years of ownership and 125,000 wonderful miles, that's the only thing that's been problematic!!!
@artichoke You still use the power button for the top to latch or unlatch the front. I will take a video.
@EricC The are OEM hollow spokes. The car came from the factory with the targa wheels which will be included with the sale.
How do you unlatch or latch the top in it's closed position if manually operated? I have a 96 C4 Cab and am interested as I'd love to override the power top!!!
@mdolly Well, Both! The top works in manual mode (which still uses the motor up front to release the latch. The motor to lower the top works as well, if we re-engage it.
@tkasser just to clarify, the automatic top would function properly if the motor was reconnected? Or the automatic motor does not work but the top functions normally in manual mode only? Thank you, looks very nice.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
Are these OEM wheels? Aftermarket? If latter, could you provide detailed info?
@msoares Yes. Probably today or tomorrow.
@BarryLe Lots of people have done this (not just with 993s) as a preventive measure. It's just a matter of disengaging the motor. With the motor connected, there is always the chance that it fails when you least want it to and in the past (mostly on BMWs) I have seen them bend the tops frame.
I assure you this top works perfectly.
Are you going to take chassis pictures and upload? Thanks
Owner: Why would someone convert a factory automatic convertible top to a manually operated top? Seems to be a bad decision likely driven by an owner who was unwilling to invest in his beautiful Porsche.
