Finished in Arena Red Metallic over a Classic Grey interior, this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet marks the final year of the air-cooled Porsche 911 and was acquired by the seller from its original owner out of Florida in 2007. It comes factory equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, 17” Cup 2 wheels, stainless steel door entry guards, and aluminum-look instrument dials. The car has been garage-kept since new and features upgraded Bilstein shocks paired with H&R springs for improved handling. With just under 17k miles showing on the odometer, this 993 Carrera is now being offered for auction by its longtime second owner out of Pennsylvania.
This Carrera comes finished in the iconic 993-era color of Arena Red Metallic with a black cabriolet top and matching tonneau cover. Other features include a rear spoiler with integrated brake light, dual stainless steel exhaust tips, and 17” Cup 2 wheels fitted with colored Porsche crest center caps and older Bridgestone tires. A few small imperfections are noted on the exterior as well as a few small marks on the wheels and minor scrapes below the front bumper. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Classic Grey interior features optional supple leather sears, aluminum-look instrument dials, and stainless-steel door entry guards with Carrera logos. The footwells are lined with black carpet mats including embroidered red Porsche lettering on the driver’s side. The original Porsche CD radio remains equipped, and the seller notes two trim pieces broke off from between the door and dashboard on each side. Two buttons are missing from the tonneau cover, the driver’s seat shows some creasing, and the key fob has become detached from the key itself. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
The air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine sends up to 282 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Upgraded Bilstein shocks and H&R springs have been installed and the original suspension components are said to accompany the sale. A wheel alignment was most recently performed in 2020 and the seller has performed routine oil changes and brake fluid flushes throughout their ownership. A small oil leak is noted from the right-side heat exchanger.
This sale will include a clean title, the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, spare tire, and air pump.

Beautiful car. I'm sure the seller may have regrets. Good luck to the buyer. Enjoy riding your new car with the top down!!

I own the same car and it is amazing to drive, especially with the top down.
@britco4 I didn't drive it as much as I would have liked, but I would sometimes go out into the garage and just look at it though - my son too :)
@rsbj (seller) - thanks for the added info, it should help all the bidders. Not seeing the options codes picture though. I'm a Texas Aggie so the color should be attractive to me except I have a 97' cab 6M silver which is a totally awesome car. Coupes are hot topics but top-down back roads in a cab 993 6M 159 (motor sound option) will definitely make you smile. Love mine. Best of Luck with your auction... you will miss her assuming you spent some quality time with her. Well her low mileage reflects not a lot of driving though....:).
@britco4 I believe the sticker you asked for is now posted, please let me know if that's not it. Also a picture of the only missing convertible top button along with the broken door piece is posted. Rick
@rsbj Picture. of the broken trim piece that is mentioned in the auction. Please note, both door have the same broken piece and are similar.
Picture of the one missing button for the convertible top. It does not effect the top, at least up to the speeds I drive.
Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.
@rsbj Also folks who are thinking of bidding, I have four new (as of two weeks ago) hood struts, but they are *not* installed. Just fyi.
@jbauto I'll trade ya :)
@britco4 Hi, I'm not familiar with the "options sticker," but I can look.
Yes, it does have the motor sound option.
Two rear tires and front right are from 2008 and have 55-65 percent tread left. Left front tire is original from 1998.
No curb rash on the wheels, but the local Porsche dealership did leave some marks on the wheels when they aligned the car in 2008. They refinished the wheels for me at that time, but, coupled with shoddy work on my dad's 911, had a falling out. So I then did all of my own oil changes, which I quite enjoy.
I'll try and get you pictures of the two interior trim pieces and missing convertible top button. Not sure I can get them posted here before the auction expires, so please send me your email.
Small to medium leak from the right side valve cover, as mentioned in the auction.
Rick
A few questions:
1. Can you provide a picture of the options sticker under hood or in the owner's manual?
2. Does it have the Motor Sound option or just a replaced air cleaner box cover?
3. Info on tires - dates, tread remaining, etc. The one pic looks like 2006 tire but not sure.
4. Any wheel curb rash?
5. Any leaks, drips, etc.
6. Pictures of underneath, motor, suspension, scrapes, etc...
A lot more pictures of all the above and any blemishes, broken parts, etc. would be helpful.
Thank you and best wishes on the auction.
If I didn't already have 2 topless Ferrari's, this is the Porsche I'd buy. Good luck to all.
Love this car. I’ve been looking for this exact car but in a coupe. Someone will be happy!
Bid in the amount of $72,000
@h993_cab4 It's not by choice, just where life has brought me. Four kids in or coming up to college and one's now taking flying lessons.
I'm with Manhattan!! Beautiful car and so much fun to drive with the top down.
Long ownership history too. I don't know how you can part with your car.
@Manhattan_trout Thank you Manhattan_trout. It won't be easy seeing it go!
Bid in the amount of $69,993
This is absolutely gorgeous and such low mileage. As the owner of a 95 993 cab, I can attest to how much these cars are to drive and really enjoy top down in the summer! This should go for a lot and deservedly so! GLWS !
@PCARMARKET Copy, sorry, I was not aware, I thought I had seen “Buy it Now” listings on this site. Must have been a different site. I am a new bidder to Pcarmarket and will not make that mistake again. I own several Porsches and hope to buy more through this site.
Bid in the amount of $55,000
