We are pleased to present this 1998 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S finished in Guards Red over a Cashmere Beige and Black interior. Marking the final year of production for the air-cooled 911, this 1998 993 Carrera 4S is among the most collectible vintage Porsche’s on the market with its low production number and wide Turbo-derived bodywork. Originally sold in California, this 993 has remained in the Golden State throughout its life where it was acquired by its fourth and current owner in 2016. It was previously under the care of a mechanic who had maintained the car as part of his personal collection. Accompanied by a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate recently issued by Porsche San Diego, this Carrera 4S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with just under 24k miles showing on the odometer.
This Carrera 4S is finished in the classic shade of Guards Red and sports the wide fenders and bumper design of the Turbo model. The car is reported to have been garage kept and covered by the current and previous owner, and a few small chips and minor touch-ups are depicted in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This 993 rides on a set of 18” Turbo Twist wheels dressed with colored Porsche center crests and a set of Bridgestone tires. The recent inspection from Porsche San Diego suggests the tires be replaced due to age.
Inside, this 993 is appointed with a Cashmere Beige and Black partial leather interior featuring optional supple leather upholstery on the front and rear seats. Other factory features include 8-way power-adjustable seats with driver seat lumbar support, automatic speed control, air conditioning, an electric sunroof, and a 6-disc remote CD changer. An upgraded Alpine radio has been installed, and the original Porsche CDR-210 radio will be included with the sale as well. The seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional at this time.
Among the very last of the air-cooled 911’s ever produced, this 1998 Carrera 4S carries a 3.6 L flat-six Varioram engine which is rated at up to 282 HP. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission, and the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate confirms both the engine and transmission to be original to the car. The C4S shares its brakes and suspension components with the Turbo model and this example has been equipped with the optional Motor Sound Package which adds a more resonant airbox and louder mufflers. The CARFAX report highlights a history of service dating back to 2004, and the seller notes that service completed in June of 2021 includes new hood struts, an air filter, stabilizer bar links, and a brake fluid flush. The Porsche Classic Technical Certificate reports the vehicle to be in “excellent condition over all subsections” and indicated only minimal wear of the brake pads and rotors. The full inspection report is provided for reference in the photo gallery.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and literature, a toolkit, spare tire, air compressor, the original Porsche CDR-210 radio, and a clean title. The final evolution of the air-cooled Carrera, this low-mile 993 C4S would make an excellent selection for discerning collectors and enthusiasts alike.

@Archer1 Major Congrats to you, she is definitely a beauty. Enjoy!!!
Greetings PCarMarket gang- I'm very excited to win this hard fought auction and kudos to @Wugang1984 and @Falky for putting up a hell of fight. I didn't pull the trigger on a close example with the double the miles at $92k 3 years ago, so wasn't going to let this one slip away. I appreciate all the well wishes and she's going to be in the company of a 993 Targa and couple of 928 S4's. Cheers!
@siabond26 your right they aren't making more and the 911's are getting bigger and more computerized
@antoniodelgad68 If I had know this would be the market price for 993s, I should have bought 3 more.
I'm sure in couple of years from now I would say the same thing when they're selling between $200K-$250K.
Congrats now go out and drive it, that's the whole point of owning these beautiful air coolers. The last of a breed and a guaranteed grin maker.
Sold for $155,250
As a Canadian, the currency exchange kills me and the transport and the taxes! We need to pay for our health program up here! One of the nicest 993s. Enjoy it before she departs our garage. Cheers
Hopefully, Archer will drive it
Beautiful car with great mileage.
@Falky I am torn. Would have liked to kept it but then i don’t drive it

Where is the Porsche Classic Technical Certificate?
@PMeister Both stickers should be in the listing now.
Bid in the amount of $80,250
I saw two late ones last Saturday at the show at Porsche Houston north. One was 12/97 and a real late 4/98. We spoke for a while because my coupe 996 is 3/98. The 12/97 was arena red, the 4/97 was white, I believe is called glacier white.
Bid in the amount of $80,000
@PMeister I will get a picture of it this afternoon. should be able to get it uploaded later today or first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you
@BlueTTop is asking for the sticker that's on the underside of the front hood. Also in the service manual. It shows the VIN, engine/trans number, option codes, paint, interior, etc for this particular car. It's also called the identification label.
@dennisconnie2 That should be a problem. My schedule is a little all over the place but i am sure we can figure out a time
@BlueTTop I do not have the original sticker that came with the car, but I will post the picture of one that came when i purchased the car and one that was included with the COA. will try and get that posted today. Thank you for your comment
