Up for auction is this 1-owner 1998 993 Carrera 4S Coupe.  Being a 4S model, this 993 is equipped with extremely desirable features shared with the Turbo model including an advanced all-wheel drive system, upgraded brakes, a sportier wide body look, and hollow spoke wheels.  Purchased new from MCL Porsche in Vancouver, this 993 is one of only 299 reported C4S examples built in 1998 and is still maintained by its original owner.  Currently showing just 47,000km (29k miles) on the odometer, this well-kept Carrera 4S is being offered for auction in an impeccably clean and original state by its lifelong owner out of Vancouver.

Finished in Glacier White over Charcoal Grey, this Turbo-body 993 pulls off a striking look.  This example is said to retain its fully original paint, bearing only minor signs of road wear.  Factory lowered suspension beautifully accentuates the OEM Turbo Twist wheels, which come wrapped in high performance Pirelli P-Zero tires.  Completely stock in appearance while remaining exceptionally clean, this 993 is sure to satisfy even the most discerning collector.

Utilizing improved rear suspension technology, the 993 offered a quieter and more comfortable ride than any 911 before it.  This 993 has been appointed with a Charcoal Grey leather interior which remains in excellent condition bearing only slight creasing on the highly desirable hard back sport seats.  Ahead of its time, this 4S is also factory optioned with desirable carbon fiber and aluminum trim throughout the cabin.  The seller confirms that all electrical components and accessories are in working order.

Featuring improvements across the board, the 993 employs a revolutionary alloy multi-link rear suspension, upgraded power steering, new dual-flow exhaust and larger brakes.  Power comes from a 3.6L flat-six engine which sends 282HP to all four wheels by way of a desirable 6-speed manual transmission.  Without any upgrades, this car is capable of accelerating from 0-60 in approximately five seconds while reaching top speeds of nearly 170.  This car’s performance is further enhanced with a factory performance exhaust system which also provides for a stellar soundtrack.  Always dealer maintained, this 993 has never suffered serious mechanical issues and currently stands in perfect driving condition.

Included in the sale of this 993 C4S are two keys (one of which requires minor repair) and original owner’s manuals.  A clean Carfax report detailing this car’s accident free history will be provided as well. The seller would like to mention that complete service records may be requested from the selling dealer, MCL Porsche, in Vancouver.  993’s have become increasingly sought after for their uncanny ability to combine refined modern performance with an old school, analog feel.  Do not miss your opportunity to secure yourself a true collector’s grade 993.

@friendswthpcars Well you have a good spidey sense. All of my friends are saying i am crazy to sell this car. My wife always razzed me about parking at the far end of the parking lots away from other cars, and not driving in the rain etc. 21 years later we have a real collectible specimen.

The real irony is what cant come off the page, its the whaling sound it makes in third and fourth gear pulling to over 100mph...its arguably more exciting than any other aspect...outside of the braking perhaps...hanging a passenger by the straps!

Its amazing how all of these look different even though they are the same. The ones that are well cared for and come from a good home just ooze the very essence of that. I can tell that this one is special.

@gvance99, the dare of acquisition of 2016: is on the Carfax. Regardless, this is the “right car” for so many reasons.

@ftsuru not sure why acquisition date is listed as 2016? Where do you see that? Regardless ignore that.

I purchased this car brand new in 98 from Bob Clarke at MCL Porsche Vancouver with 21 km on it and I have owned ever since.

@ftsuru @ftsur. Hi Frank, I love your enthusiasm, its well warranted...trust me this is a tough one for me to let go!

The car has largely been dry stored for the last 9 years with very little mileage put on it. I dont want to give you the impression its been static. It has Collector /Show plates so its remained insured/driveable.
We have started and run it regularly and I would venture to guess we have put 500 miles per year average on it. The only service in that time frame has been oil and filters. It flashes up and runs like a clock. It doesnt burn any blue at all other than a puff at startup which they all do...and has done since new.
I estimate the tires and brakes to have 75% remaining.

The only minor gremlin is with one of the FOBs and the auto/lock immobilizer as i listed.

@gvance99, I noticed that there has only been one owner but the acquisition date was 2016. How many owners were there prior to 2016?

  • ftsuru (registered bidder) 5 years, 2 monthsago

@gvance99, is the car up to date with all it’s maintenance? What are the condition of the tires and brakes? Can you give me the date code of the tires? Again, love the car and will be there bidding to the end!

Last Sunday I was driving to a Porsche event (Driven to America 3, which was amazing) and for the last few miles before arriving I was driving behind a 993 C4S. Wow, what a looker. It was THE most sexy-looking car I can remember driving behind, bar none. This one in Glacier White with hard back seats and sold by the original owner is a great example.

For anyone concerned about it being a Canadian car, I have done extensive research on buying in Canada and importing to the US and I would not let that slow me down an iota. It'll cost about 3% for import duties and fees and beyond that, should be a cinch, especially if you work with a known importer. You'll need to obtain a letter of compliance from PCNA, which is very easy, and probably need to switch the speedo from KPH to MPH, which should also be easy.

Good luck with the auction. (Most such things are "Buyer Beware." This one should be "Buyer Enjoy!")

@ftsuru sorry i just realized i didnt reply to the records question. 100% of the service has been done by the original dealer and a history is available. Nothing significant has ever gone wrong with the vehicle. Its been a great car since day one.

  • gvance99 (seller) 5 years, 2 monthsago

@ftsuru 1 thx for the questions

The car is 100% factory original paint. We have been lucky enough to avoid any damage of any kind. As i stated in the disclosure, the car is perfectly straight, to this day it doesnt have a single ding/dent of any kind and never has. I dont have any pics of the underside, but this has been a sunny day “sunday” car from day one and has been stored covered in heated garage.
Hope that helps. Its truly in stunning condition

Does the car have 100% original paint? I assume you have all the documentation from new? Do you have any pictures of the underside? Great looking car.

  • gvance99 (seller) 5 years, 2 monthsago
