Based on the E36 3-Series platform, the Z3 drew inspiration from its predecessor, the BMW Z1, as well as the iconic BMW 507 Roadster. This 1998 example features the larger M52 6-cylinder engine paired with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It comes finished in Bright Red over a Black Oregon leather interior and was acquired by its last owner at just 3k miles before being shipped to his home in Hawaii. As previously listed on PCARMARKET, this Z3 2.8 is being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of New York.
The body is finished in Bright Red (314) with a newer black convertible soft top. The 2.8 model can be distinguished from other Z3s by its wider rear track, revised front bumper, and dual exhaust tips. The front kidney grills, side fender vents, and fender-mounted roundels pay homage to the classic BMW 507. Equipment includes fog lights, dual roll hoops, power side mirrors, a power antenna, and silver 5-spoke BMW Style 18 wheels. The seller reports the exterior to be in well above average condition with some signs of road going wear such as minor rock chips and/or small scratches.
The interior features Black Oregon leather upholstery with decorative wood veneers extending to the steering wheel. Amenities include a Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi sound system, a 6-CD changer, cruise control, an onboard computer, air conditioning, power seats, power windows, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
This Z3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.8L M52 inline 6-cylinder engine generating as much as 189 HP and 203 lb.-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a factory-equipped limited-slip differential. The CARFAX report shows 17 service records dating back to March of 2000, and the last recorded entry shows the brakes serviced in 2016. The fluids are also said to have been recently replaced under the seller's care.
This sale will include a clean title.

Wanted to thank everyone who looked at and bid on this Z3 so far. I cannot reiterate enough what an amazing value this is for a German-Engineered, manual transmission "Driver's Car." Someone is going to be very happy, my guess is that this is not only a great car to drive and look at , but it also is so undervalued that it is probably a very good collector car investment. Looking forward to meeting the new owner.

Appreciate all of the bids and views so far. This is a beautiful car and someone is going to be very happy. Many of you may not realize, when comparing this to the 1.9 4cyl model, besides the larger motor, this car has wider flared rear quarter panels and larger wheels that make it have a much better presence in my opinion. Look closely at the pics and enjoy the video, most importantly, bid with confidence! This is a great example with low miles and the 5-speed manual transmission which makes it that much sweeter!
