Now available for auction is this 1998 BMW E36/7 Z3 2.8 Roadster finished in Alpine White over a two-tone Black and Tanin Red interior. Based on the E36 3-Series platform, the Z3 drew inspiration from its predecessor, the BMW Z1, as well as the iconic BMW 507 Roadster. This 1997 example features the larger M52 6-cylinder engine paired with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission and limited-slip diffential. With just over 37k miles showing on the odometer, this Z3 Roadster is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona.
This Z3 is finished in Alpine White (300) with a black convertible soft top and a removable painted hardtop. The Z3 stays true to form as a BMW roadster with a long hood, short overhangs, and the driver’s seating position just ahead of the rear axle. The front kidney grills, side fender vents, and fender-mounted roundels pay homage to the classic BMW 507. The 2.8 model can be distinguished from other Z3s by its wider rear track, revised front bumper, and dual exhaust tips. The seller describes the finish to have been very well kept throughout the years, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This Z3 rides on original 17” BMW Style 18 wheels mounted with Cooper Zeon tires.
The cabin features two-tone Black and Tanin Red upholstery with wood veneer trim throughout the center console and shift knob. Optional features include heated seats and mirrors, a Harmon Kardon Hi-Fi sound system, and the Chrome Interior Trim Package which adds chrome bezels around the gauges as well as a chrome finish to the door lock pins, door release handles, and the headlight pull knob. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, power seats, power windows, and cruise control. The seller notes a lifting trim piece above the glovebox and confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.
This Z3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.8L inline 6-cylinder engine generating as much as 189 HP and 203 lb.-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a factory-equipped limited-slip differential. The CARFAX report shows service records dating back to 1998 and the seller states that an oil service and inspection have been recently carried out in preparation for sale.
This sale will include the original owner's manuals, a removable hardtop, and a clean title. Celebrated by driving enthusiasts, this fun and nimble 5-speed Z3 is just waiting to be enjoyed.

@2mAn Thank you for the insight!
Just to help the sale this motor is extremely rare in the US and this was the only model that had it in the US. Its the only M50 based block thats Aluminum which saves 50# over the front wheels vs the other versions. Mine made 225whp with the mods I mentioned earlier. Factor S52 cams, Factory OBD1 Intake and a retune. Thats it. Nearly 100bhp/ liter

@2mAn Fortunately there are no issues with those items! The car feels like it just came out of the dealer showroom. Thanks for checking out the auction.
Any of the typical Z3 issues? Glovebox, seat lean, rear subframe? Im a HUGE fan of these aluminum M52 motors. S52 cams, OBD1 intake and you have a better package than a S52 IMO. Hardtop included is a huge bonus too
@Jason952 No factory optioned. Listed officially as Oregon/Int.black/tanin-rot on the VIN decoder found here: https://www.mdecoder.com/decode/4uscj3338wlc15258
Is this an M Roadster interior swap?
