The second generation of the M3, the E36 was launched in 1992 with a new body style, chassis, and six-cylinder S50 engine boasting nearly 100 HP over the original E30 M3. This 1998 Sedan comes finished in Estoril Blue Metallic over a Light Grey Nappa Leather interior. It features a 5-speed manual transmission, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, an onboard computer, and more. The seller acquired it in October of 2022 from the reportedly original owner and has since been treated to a cooling system refresh, new tires, and a new power steering pump. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona while showing just under 85k miles on its odometer.
This M3 comes finished in Estoril Blue Metallic and features model-specific front and rear bumpers, flared side skirts, and body-colored aerodynamic mirrors. The seller reports that the finish remains in great overall condition while showing minor scratches and dings commensurate with age and use. Additional images can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. It rides on a set of Silver-finished 17″ M Double Spoke wheels which come dressed in a set of Continental tires bearing date codes from 2022.
The seats are upholstered in Light Grey Nappa leather with matching door panels, and carpets. Amenities include an onboard computer, an electric sunroof, power windows, central locking, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The seller confirms all gauges, electronics, and accessories remain functional with the exception of a faulty brake light warning light and the passenger side door lock. Minor signs of wear are noted.
Power comes from a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six rated at 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a mechanically locking limited-slip differential. The CARFAX includes three service entries dating back to 2003, and the seller notes that since acquiring the car they have replaced the cooling system including a new aluminum radiator, and the power steering pump. A collection of service records from the previous owner have been provided and are available for reference in the gallery.
This sale will include a collection of service records, owner’s literature, a full-sized spare, 2 keys, and a clean title (lien).

@mikepotekhen I thought it looked odd! Appreciate the quick reply
@jtclark I am not sure about the clutch, I have not had any issues with the clutch and it works great.
To the best of my knowledge the engine has not been out of the car, I believe that photo was added to my listing as a mistake. You will see that it is a Porsche Baxter engine with the opposing pistons, the M3 has an inline 6.

Hi, Is clutch original and what was the service that required engine out? I didn't see in service records. Do you still have M-Tech Spoiler?

The door lock is a simple fix, the mechanic said it just needs a couple parts, I was quoted about 200 to get it fixed and have not had a chance to get it into the shop.
The light is intermittent and he said that lights like that are common on the e36 M3 and that as long as everything was working properly its not a big deal. So I have not looked into it any further. Im sure it a sensor of some sort, its an older car.

@Mikepotekhen Can you elaborate more on the 2 issues mentioned in the description about "faulty brake light warning light and the passenger side door lock" what needs to be done to get these things fixed?
Taught my boys how to drive a stick with a '92 325i back in the early '90's so I have a soft spot for E36's. First car was either going to be a 2002 or a 914- still have the 914 after 52 years so I'd still have the 2002 if I'd gotten that! Think these and the early 1600/2002's are the best BMW ever made. IMHO lately BMW has totally lost the plot...

@craina This is what I read from the previous owners add
“Only Bumper was replaced. I know that service record reads funny but there was no damage to the fenders and you can see the only painting was done to the bumper/spoiler.”
From what I can tell all the vin stickers are in place.
The records indicate there was an accident (pic 68). Can you post photos of the vin tags on the fenders to confirm?
