Featuring a 3.2-liter S52 inline-six engine, a 5-speed manual transmission, and a retractable roof, this 1998 BMW E36 Convertible represents the second generation of the legendary M3. It comes finished in Titanium Silver Metallic over a black Nappa leather interior and equips 17” alloy wheels, an M Sport steering wheel, and a limited-slip differential. This E36 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing less than 23k miles on the odometer.
Compared to a standard E36 3-Series, the M3 variant features unique bumpers with a front lip spoiler, along with flared side skirts and model-specific mirrors. This example is finished in Titanium Silver Metallic with a black power-operated convertible top and standard equipment includes black body moldings with M3 logos, front fog lights, and 17” Style 22 wheels. The seller notes that paint protection film has been applied. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin presents black leather upholstery with front sports seats and an M Sport steering wheel. Amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, an onboard computer, a Harmon-Kardon audio system, M3-logo door sills, and power windows, door locks, and mirrors. An “M” branded seatbelt cushion has been fitted and the seller notes slight wear on the driver’s seat bolster. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are said to be fully functional.
Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.2-liter S52 inline-six engine, this E36 M3 sends up to 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft. of torque to its rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The seller reports a new battery has been installed and all maintenance is documented in a spreadsheet. Additionally, a set of removable “Kleen Wheels” dust shields have been fitted to the two front wheels.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a BMW windscreen & storage bag, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This car has been meticulously cared for & I’m available to answer ANY questions"

@Setric I appreciate your thoughts/suggestion. It was discussed with PCar initially & decided to list it this way as explained in the auction. Certainly, if the top doesn’t sell (it was deliberately listed with the same timing as the car) I will have that option to do so. Thanks, again, for your comments. Good luck bidding today!
I would respectively ask the seller to include the hardtop with this beautiful car. Think it benefits seller and buyer.
Bid in the amount of $12,027
@NA2 As you requested (sorry for the delay, I was out all day), pic (#182) is the 3 page spreadsheet that I created to keep track of the car. As you can see, I rarely drove it. It’s always been garaged & on a battery trickle charger. Every year when it gets a NYS inspection I have them go thru the car thoroughly including if it needed an oil change. Before every winter I’d fill the tank with gas & a gas stabilizer.
I assure you, I take meticulous care of my cars.
Thanks, again, for your interest/questions…good luck bidding!

@NA2 yes, the A/C blows cold, evidently that wasn’t specifically put in the description. It works as supposed to & doesn’t have ANY leaks. As I believe I have mentioned, EVERYTHING works as it’s supposed to including the cassette player!! I will work on the spreadsheet ASAP.
Thanks for your inquiry & good luck bidding, you won’t be disappointed!
@cars228 I apologize if I've missed it, but does the AC blow cold? Also, would it be possible to upload a scan of the maintenance spreadsheet you mentioned? thank you
@an_architect I have added the photos (#176>181, sorry about the “sideways” shots that downloaded that way!?!) you requested & double checked ALL the leather, any other questions or concerns before this auction ends tomorrow around 2pm EST?
BTW, in case there’s any questions/concerns about the radio/CD multi disc player/cassette (yes, it also has that!)/computer/etc. working…they ALL function as supposed to.
The winning bidder (hopefully) will have a lifetime of enjoying a GREAT BMW! As I’m sure many of you know, these E36 cars last 100’s of thousands of miles with very few “issues”/repairs…good luck bidding & again, I’m happy to answer ANY inquiries!

@an_architect Thanks for your inquiries. I will take pics ASAP & will answer your question's below:
-the vert top liner is fine (no sags, rips, gaps. etc.) specific pics to follow
-no “unusual” sounds from ANY of the vert top motors, etc. Everything operates/functions as should (as you can see by the videos)
-although the car has always been garage kept & I don’t remember driving it in the rain, there’s never been a water issue when washed (always by hand!)
-I will double check, but ALL the leather is in great shape except the “slight” wear on the driver’s side seat bolster (which is common, but usually MUCH worse) in pic# 108 (which looks worse in the pic than in person.) Additionally, I did look into having it dyed (which wasn’t that costly), but decided against it. I wanted to keep its originality & like I’ve stated, it’s really not bad. There are other pics of the interior, but I assure you that you won’t be disappointed (especially compared to the common grey interior, that I have had & definitely doesn’t wear/repair well)
-I don’t believe any of the clips are broken or have any of the panels been off. They’re NOT loose & don’t rattle
-I have not replaced the water pump & don’t believe (although I don’t know for sure) that the previous owner did. I have never been advised to replace it as “preventative” as long as you watch for any leaks & you don’t drive that far IF it’s overheating (which I’ve NEVER had to deal with!) I’ve owned several E36 motors & ONLY replaced them when needed.
-no leaks on ANY of the items you listed (struts, shocks, etc., etc.)
I can assure you (& would be happy to discuss with you directly, if you desire) you can bid with confidence on this car, it’s the closest example of “showroom” condition that I’ve EVER seen or heard of.
I hope I’ve answered ALL your questions to your satisfaction.
Good luck bidding!
Can you provide pictures of the inside of the roof with the top closed to capture the condition of the liner - at both columns and along the top? Are there any gaps where you can see through tto thr outside where the top meets the car? Do any of the three motors sound like they are struggling during top operation? Any water leaks with the soft top is closed?
Has any of the leather hardened (especially the back head rests) or been dyed?
Are any of the clips broken on the interior insert panels (door or rear) causing loose figment?
Has the water pump been replaced/upgraded to metal or is the the oem plastic?
Any leaking from struts, shocks, gaskets, seals, differential?
(I’ve seen all of the above on another low mileage example)
Hi All!
Just a few things:

-I’ve got a spreadsheet that I’ve kept all the info (repairs, servicing, when I’ve started it/driven it, etc.)

@Steveduva I ship cars to FL 2x per year & pay $1200 door to door (to north Miami), you probably can get it cheaper (especially in the off season)
I happy to share that info with you/anyone who wins the auction…
@spencerberke thanks & I’ve certainly maintained it meticulously!
@Kraftwerk yes, I had an automatic, but I REALLY enjoy the 3 pedals (manual) & they are rather rare as you obviously know! Thanks for the comment, good luck bidding…
What would you think it would cost to get it shipped to Florida?
Low miles! Good luck to the seller & buyer.
Bid in the amount of $11,500
M3 'Verts are usually automatic, nice to see a standard-shift model here.

@g1hound I need the space in my garage, otherwise I’d hold onto it for sure!
Cars228, why are you selling?

Hello everyone and thank you for viewing my Auction for this absolutely mint E36 M3 Vert. I have several “extra” parts & keys that will be included for the buyer. Additionally, the car has a professionally installed full frontal PPF.
I wanted to let everyone know I also have the color matched hard top in PCM's Dealtank with a buy it now price, feel free to make an offer! I decided to list separately because I know every buyer is different.
If you plan to register this car in NYS, I do have available license plates that are "period correct" since it now qualifies for "historical" plates.
I look forward to answering all your questions & finding a new home for this GREAT car. You won’t be disappointed, good luck!!
