This launch-year 1997 Porsche 986 Boxster was among the first produced at the main factory in Stuttgart, designated by the “S” as the 11th character in its VIN number. It comes finished in Black over a matching partial leather interior and features a 5-speed manual transmission connected to a 2.5-liter flat-six engine. It was acquired by the current owner in 2005 at just over 50k miles and is now being offered for auction out of Connecticut showing approximately 83k miles on the odometer.
This 986 comes finished in nonmetallic Black with a matching convertible roof and silver accents on the lower front grilles. Exterior features include integrated side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, a central exhaust outlet, roll hoops behind the headrests, and 17” Twist alloy wheels. Some minor imperfections are noted including paint chips, scratches, and two small dings as highlighted in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The car rides on a set of Sumitomo HTR Z summer tires newly mounted in 2019.
The black partial leather interior features new Porsche logo floor mats as well as a decorative Porsche crest on the steering wheel and “986” badging on the center console. Equipment includes power windows, automatic air conditioning, dual cupholders, and an original Porsche CDR-210 stereo. Some wear is noted on the seating surfaces and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories work properly.
Up to 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by a 2.5-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Service records are said to be available beginning with the current owner’s purchase in 2005, and the CARFAX report shows routine maintenance including the most recent service completed in July of 2022.

I checked service records I have (from 2006-2022) and no indication of this part being replaced. Unfortunately I do not have any service records from 1997-2006.
@dds_lcs I will check my records but only have service records from 2006. Previous owners did not provide records. If I had to guess I would think so since thats always been an issue but I have no records for the first 9 years. I will check my records within 24 hours. Thanks for your interest.
