Marking the inaugural year of Porsche’s mid-engine 986 roadster, this 1997 Boxster was among the first produced at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart designated by the “S” as the 11th character in its VIN number. Equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and factory optional Sport Suspension (030), it comes finished in Arena Red Metallic over a Graphite Grey partial leather interior. This original-year Boxster is now being offered by its owner out of New Jersey showing approximately 64k miles on the odometer.
This 986 comes finished in Arena Red Metallic, one of the quintessential Porsche colors of the late 1990s. Equipment includes a grey convertible roof and 17” Twist alloy wheels dressed in Kumho tires from 2012. Some imperfections and signs of road-going wear are depicted in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Classic Grey partial leather interior includes manually adjustable seats along with electrically adjustable mirrors, a power convertible roof, air conditioning, a center console, and a Porsche CDR-210 stereo. Some wear is shown on the driver seat and shift boot, and the seller confirms all accessories and instrumentation work properly.
As much as 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels by a 2.5-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The optional SportTechnic Package (013) equips lowered Sport Suspension (030) as well as an Automatic Braking Differential (ABD) for improved handling. The seller reports new Bosch spark plugs have been recently installed along with a new air/oil separator, oil filter, and fuel filter.
This sale will include a clean title and some service records.

This is a double roller bearing. It is the stronger bearing with an extremely low failure rate. The 2000 models have a single row which is more prone to fail.
To the best of my knowledge this bearing hasn't been changed. There is no linking oil or and noise at cold startup. I'm confident in this engine.
Was this model Boxster part of the group that needs the IMS bearing replacement done, and, if so, was it done on this car? It's a good-looking Porsche.

The 030 suspension package is super rare and a great upgrade. Sharpens the driving experience relative to the base suspension.
The "S" stated in the description explaining that it was built in Stuttgart Germany.
It is very rare. The other production run cars were built in Finland must different if you care about that kinda stuff.
boxster s did not appear until 2000.
Hi guys, let me know if I can answer any questions.
She's good to go. Drive anywhere with confidence.
I'm involved in a major house project otherwise I wouldn't be selling her. Very pleasurable.
Happy bidding. .. Matt
