This launch-year 1997 Porsche 986 Boxster was among the first produced at the main factory in Stuttgart, designated by the “S” as the 11th character in its VIN number. It comes finished in Black over matching upholstery and pairs a 5-speed manual transmission with its 2.5-liter flat-six. Having spent time in Japan, this 986 was imported to the United States approximately one year and four months ago. Showing approximately 58k kilometers or 36k miles on the odometer, this RoW example is now being offered for auction out of Virginia.
The exterior is finished in Black with a matching convertible roof and silver accents on the lower front grilles. Features include integrated side air intakes, an active rear spoiler, a central exhaust outlet, roll hoops behind the headrests, and 17” Twist alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires from 2018. The seller notes the right rear quarter panel was refinished and mentions minor, buffable scratches on the car. There are touched-up scratches on the rear bumper at the seam with the right quarter panel and on the lower front bumper. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the driver is situated within a black partial leather interior. Amenities include power windows, heated seats, automatic climate control, and an upgraded Pioneer head unit. The seller notes some wear on the driver’s side door panel and a crack in the trim surrounding the hood release. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be in proper working order.
Up to 201 HP and 181 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels by a 2.5-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The seller states there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a toolkit.
The seller would like you to know: “Fun car that runs great!”

Bid in the amount of $4,999
Still no bids! Not surprising, with no records, unknown IMS status, and no PPI. Would be money well spent for the sellar to obtain a PPI at Sellars expense. Pretty short sighted to ask bidder/buyer to pay for PPI. If you are serious about selling this, you might want to rethink it. Do you honestly think someone is going to pay for a PPI on a car that they may not even bid on? My .02. GLWS
@Nprest2 absolutely but it would be something that is at your expense. Here is a link for garages in our area that provide that service.

Is there a way to arrange for a pre purchase inspection?
@Nprest2 Unfortunately we can't. This car was imported from Japan by us, any history on the car prior to when we bought it we do not have access to. Since we acquired the car we have not done any services to it and the only repair we did was we replaced the top on it since the old top had a tear in it.
Could you provide vehicle history / # of owners. Are service records available? Was the IMS bearing replaced?
Good morning all and thank you for checking out the beautiful Porsche Boxster we have for sale! As always If you have any questions feel free to ask and comments are welcome!
