Now up for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo finished in Arena Red Metallic over a black leather interior. Representing the last of the air-cooled 911 Turbos, this 993 was delivered to its first owner in Ohio before making its way to the state of Washington in 2005, where it remained up until 2019. It features an upgraded Bilstein PSS10 coilover suspension, RS adjustable sway bars, RS lightweight clutch and flywheel, auxiliary transmission cooler, Brembo GT brake kit, and Cargraphic sport exhaust. This 993 has also been customized with 18” BBS wheels, Recaro bucket seats, and a Cantrell Motorsports roll bar. Optimized for performance and driver engagement, this tastefully upgraded 993 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida showing approximately 73k miles on the odometer.
This example was ordered in Arena Red Metallic (L84S), perhaps the most iconic color for the 993 Turbo. Compared to the standard Carrera model, the Turbo sports wider fenders, a body-colored rear spoiler, and a unique front fascia with three lower air inlets. Custom protective grilles have been added to the lower front bumper and the car has been fitted with a set of BBS LM wheels sized 18”x9” in front and 18”x11” in the rear. These wheels come dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 235/40ZR18 front and 295/30ZR18 rear. The seller reports no signs of previous accident damage, but notes the car was completely refinished due to wear and presents wonderfully now. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black leather interior has been fitted with a pair of Recaro Sportster CS bucket seats in front, while the rear seats have been removed in place of a custom weld-in Cantrell Motorsports roll bar / half-cage. Other additions include Schroth 6-point safety harnesses, a drilled pedal set, custom leather-wrapped steering wheel, and shift indicator lights ahead of the central tachometer. Factory features include a rear window wiper, onboard computer, Litronic xenon headlights, cruise control, and a sunroof.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.6L flat-six engine that delivers up to 408 HP and 398 lb.-ft of torque stock to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The dynamic limited-slip system with Active Brake Differential (ABD) and a limited-slip differential are equipped as standard along with fixed 4-piston aluminum Brembo brake calipers paired with 322mm cross-drilled rotors front and rear. The engine has been upgraded with a Cargraphic sport exhaust system and TurboKraft oil line check valves. The transmission features an RS lightweight clutch/flywheel kit, Porsche Motorsport internal oil squirters, and an auxiliary oil cooler. Stopping power has been improved with a Brembo GT big brake kit including 355x32 and 345x28 slotted discs. The suspension features upgraded Bilstein PSS10 coilovers and 993 RS adjustable stabilizer bars. Both the engine and transmission were reportedly rebuilt by Cantrell Motorsports prior to 2016, although no corresponding records are available as their computer system has since been updated. New spark plugs, exhaust head shields, and throttle body seal were installed by European Auto Center in January of 2022.
This sale will include a clean title.

Cantrell is an excellent shop with a fantastic reputation. If they looked after the car for 15 years, that's should put to rest any doubts or concerns.

Beautiful car, GLWS.
@porschebf any interested parties are welcome to contact Cantrell Motorsports who looked after this car for nearly 15 years.
The car most certainly was not crashed and rebuilt and if you were to view or inspect this car in person, it would be immediately clear that is not case.
After 70+K miles and 20+ years the Arena Red paint was showing it’s age, which is why the last owner decided to repaint the car after his purchase in 2019.
@sivanov0 the Autocheck entry appears to be a clerical error. It is recorded from 8/05 in OH, however the car was already in WA at that time. The last entry from OH prior was 7/03. In 6/04 the car moved to IL before going to WA in 6/05. Based on the condition of the car, dates, and lack of corresponding entries in CARFAX we believe this to be a reporting error.
The transparency of the history of this car is not clear.
Completely refinished due to wear. Or completely rebuilt due to an accident?
Bid in the amount of $115,993
Autocheck reports 1 accident, would you have any details on this? Thanks

@4ruf I don't fully understand the question but will do my best to answer!
This is a street car first and track car second. @bergx7 alluded to it best--the car doesn't have excessive power (sacrificing reliability) or complete monoball suspension, which works great on track, but sacrifices road comfort.
This 993TT is compliant, easy to drive and mild-mannered on the road--but is fully capable spending a day at the track without letting you down, in terms of reliability or driving enjoyment.
Given sweet recipe of parts and sorting this 993TT has benefitted from, I personally find it to be the *ideal* car to take on a weekend-long drive to canyon/mountain roads or one of the increasingly popular driving rallies that we are fans of. Think Targa Carolina, Targa California, Overcrest Rally, etc.
Are all these track mods done so that the car can be gently used?
Bid in the amount of $105,000
Arena red looks so perfect with the 993 body. This looks like a nice, restrained build that favors reliability and balance over making unnecessary crazy power. The Zweck guys are awesome too. I've been to their facility in person down in Miami.
@zweck_sn Thank you for the information. Do you know if the current engine and transmission are the original, numbers matching engine and trans for this 993TT?
Bid in the amount of $58,000
Just to clarify my prior message, Cantrell serviced the car for 2 different owners during its time in WA from 2005-2019. However, the receipts prior to 2016 are unavailable.
@porschebf thanks for your interest. The records we have from Cantrell Motorsport are included in the auction gallery towards the bottom. The receipts from owner 3, who did most of the upgrades, engine rebuild, gearbox etc are no longer available as Cantrell changed their computer system back in 2016.
To our knowledge, CARFAX is showing an error regarding a transfer of ownership in 2019. The car was offered for sale by Cats Exotics in WA in 2019 and purchased by owner #4.
We are a dealer and acquired the car at the end of 2021 from the same person who purchased the car in 2019. All paper records for the 993TT were lost when this most recent owner moved, unfortunately.
Having a hard time understanding the history of this vehicle.
Owner # 3 purchases the car in 2005 with approx.. 40,000 miles, he sells the car in 2019 slightly over 70,000 miles
Owner #4 seems to own the car for a few months, where Cantrell Motorsports would seem to be the shop that the major service was performed, and because of a change in software no records are available. “no receipts for an extensive amount of work ??? “
Owner # 5 took control in Dec. 2021 and now up for sale in February 2022 ??
As a Porsche enthusiast and interested buyer it would help to have a better understanding.

@draab29 thank you! The original AWD system was retained and there is no whine from the front diff that I can hear.
Being that the car does have a single-mass flywheel, gear lash at certain loads / RPMs can be heard in the cabin. I personally enjoy this as a reminder of being in a purposeful car.
What continues to impress us about this 993TT is its duality. On the road, it’s incredibly comfortable yet capable. And can still withstand the rigor of any HPDE weekend. Despite the roll bar and seats, this would be my first choice for the perfect “fun” road trip car. Hopefully the winning bidder drives it home :) BTW — AC is ice cold, even in our FL heat.
Beautiful 993 turbo with some great modifications!
Is the AWD system still function or was it converted to rear wheel drive for track use?
Any whining noises coming from the front differential?
Hi All, a video has been uploaded to YouTube here:

A complete undercarriage photo gallery was taken today and uploaded to PCM.
Bid in the amount of $54,069
Bid in the amount of $53,000
@doboy17 @4orsche cold start and driving videos will be uploaded today. We do not have the original seats are and they not included with the sale.
@KvN undercarriage photos will be uploaded today.
@porschebf the compression ratio should be same as original and unchanged from factory. I.E., higher compression pistons and cylinders have not been installed nor headwork that would increase compression.
Bid in the amount of $51,000
Do you have the original seats and are they included in the auction? I agree a video of this car running and driving would be very helpful.
@sn911 @zweck_sn thanks for the info. ? Are those numbers factory compression ratios ?
Nothing from underneath the car?
Thanks & GLWA
This car and audience needs a driving video along with cold start. THIS is how a turbo should be done. So much goodness here.
@porschebf results for compression and leak down were uploaded but the website has not posted them yet.
The numbers were as follows:
Compression in psi - leak down %
Cyl 1 - 126 - 5
Cyl 2 - 135 - 5
Cyl 3 - 131 - 4
Cyl 4 - 138 - 4
Cyl 5 - 124 - 5
Cyl 6 - 131 - 7
The engine and gearbox were previously rebuilt by Cantrell Motorsports however records are no longer available.
Hi All, excited to have this wonderfully dialed-in 993TT on PCAR!
Even with the track-focused modifications, the car is incredibly composed and comfortable on the road. Ready to drive across the country, to your next DE or on a back road rally.
Nice modifications. Were these for fun or was there a lot of track use ?
This Turbo spent a lot of time on a track based on the set up. It would be very helpful to have a compression report
Nice car, thanks
finally black interior on Arena Red. gorgeous !
Bid in the amount of $50,000
What a gorgeous spec this one is, and nice upgrades too! A lot to love!
Great looking car. Cool mods. I couldn't even imagine where this one will end
