This 1997 Porsche 993 Targa is said to be one of just 567 U.S.-spec examples produced for the model year, offering a full glass sliding Targa roof that provides an open-air driving experience with the press of a button. Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black upholstery, it features a Tiptronic automatic transmission, 17” 993 Targa wheels, and more. Showing approximately 72k kilometers or 45k miles on the odometer, this 993 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Virginia.
The 993 Targa roof system includes a green-tinted laminated glass roof that can be slid beneath the rear window or covered with an electrically retractable sunshade. This example is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and rides on 17” 993 Targa wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Inside, the cabin presents Black leather upholstery. Equipment includes power-adjustable front seats, power windows & exterior mirrors, steering wheel-mounted Tiptronic buttons, and a Porsche CR-3 stereo. @sorcerer wish it wasn't the case, but I've not seen a 993 auto sell for under $60 anywhere in the last year.... Great deal if this is sold at 50k, but my review of the market is that autos are ~$60k, MT ~$80k
@aidan786 Unlikely, given the downward trend, likelihood of Targa issues with no replacement parts available from Porsche, and the general condition.

My passenger and videographer remember window being slightly open
I do hear it at 6:38 as well. As everyone is suspecting it may be the targa roof not properly closed but you weren’t driving with a window slightly open right?
@sorcerer Sorry, I cant hear what you hear the targa roof closes tight and properly
you hear the whistling sound at the 6:38 mark as well, and a couple other times. it's very likely the top, as I just had a similar issue discovered on another targa from a PPI.
Seller, can you determine if that's the top making the noise right at the front of the headliner?

@DuncanPreOwned The pictures start at drivers side quarter and go around the drivers side to passenger side. quarters read a little higher no discoloration or signs of repair paint overall is great

@DuncanPreOwned can you please post the pics with readings? And a closure picture of:
- the gasket between rear left quarter and bumper
- rear quarter edge above the rear left light.
Or is it due to the “ clear coat was refinished very well done.”

paint reads between 3 and 5 overall except rear quarters read 6 and 7 looks like the clear coat was refinished very well done
@DuncanPreOwned are paint thickness readings available? Especially for rear quarters. Protection film is missing. Any idea why?

Does the TN title have the VIN on it ?
In the state of Virginia, once a vehicle is 25 years old, inspections are not required they can be registered as an antique. I am not familiar with other states so check with your state.

@Ram3k key thing is headlights. You cannot adjust them to pass MOT as they have LHT beam and need to replace.

@Ram3k it is a pure Jap spec car. Not European. No option sticker, Japanese FM stereo, Japanese sticker on the ignition lock, lots of Japanese stickers in the engine bay from Mizwa.

Also, is there a build sheet ? I’ve tried loading the VIN into 2 different decoder sites and both say it does not appear to be a valid VIN - is it because it was not a US spec vehicle ?
