Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black leather upholstery, this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet features a 6-speed manual gearbox, an optional limited-slip differential, and the Motor Sound Package. The car was originally sold in Pennsylvania and remained in the state through the seller’s purchase from an authorized Porsche dealer in December 2021. It was previously upgraded with Bilstein coilovers and a Fabspeed air intake cover. Sparingly driven by the current owner in local PCA events and routinely serviced, this vehicle has been stored covered in a garage as part of their collection when not in use. Showing approximately 41k miles on the odometer, this 993 is now being offered for auction out of Texas.
This 993 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (X1) with a black cabriolet roof and boot. Equipment includes headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, a speed-activated rear spoiler, a raised third brake light, polished dual exhaust tips, Porsche-branded brake calipers, and 17” Cup 2 wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The exterior is described to be in very good overall condition with some minor signs of road wear, two repaired damages on the convertible top, a small rock chip on the windshield, and some touched-up paint chips. New Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires were mounted in May 2024. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Black leather interior includes an optional 8-way power-adjustable comfort seat for the driver, a power-adjustable passenger seat, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, and a sound system. Other accessories include a four-spoke leather steering wheel, carpet floor mats with red model logos, and a wood-trimmed gear knob and parking brake handle. An OEM cabin wind deflector and Arvista Bluetooth cassette adapter were also installed by the current owner along with 12-volt accessory power cables at the rearview mirror.
An air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 282 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. The optional Motor Sound Package was equipped from the factory and the car was modified with Bilstein coilovers, wheel spacers, and a Fabspeed intake cover with a reusable filter under prior ownership. A front strut brace was installed by the seller and services under their ownership included replacements of the clutch, brake, and transmission fluids, the engine oil and filter, and various plastic and metal fasteners. A Battery Tender cable was also installed for charging in storage.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a battery charger, a spare electrical relay, a boot cover and storage bag, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Good Day Interested Parties... Well, it's time to part with this bucket list 993 that I have had for only 2 1/2 years. It was the cleanest, lowest mile 993 I could find at a price I was willing to pay. No regrets at all. I've only had it on the road for about 4500 miles with the drive from the selling dealer to Texas being about 1600 miles of the 4500. I have done a bit of small tasks sorting and typical maintenance myself. Reason for selling: Many including home downsizing and to reduce count of rolling equipment from 5 vehicles to 4 leaving one other Porsche. Of course, I will be glad to answer any questions during the auction and provide additional pics & similar for the auctioneer to post. I have sold two other vehicles via PCARMARKET in case you want to check my history. I believe in honest 100% full disclosure to the extent I have knowledge or information to answer a question. If I do not have such info or knowledge I will state so. In either case you might be a bidder or just a spectator, thank you for following along with this auction. It's a fine cab but, unfortunately for me, I need to pass it to a new owner.
Regards, Chuck B.”

tic-tic-tic.... It says "modified"... but could be easily "de-modified" for some purist... backout coilovers, Fabspeed air intake cover, strut brace.... that's all that comes to mind. No leaks, squirts, slipping, screw-ups other than some minor pebble dings. Ding in the windshield is super minor. Smooth on inside & outside. I was told it likely could be drillable and epoxy filled. Dr. Colorchip seems to not be a prefect match (no surprise here really) but does a decent job. Wheels are very primo. Vehicle paint still shows its last ceramic coating nicely. 1-1/2 minor uglies on cab top repaired with appropriate tent repair backing and liquid adhesive waterproof material from the backside. No adhesive on the outside. Zippered plastic back window not polished to improve the clearness and typical minor scratches. Just did not get around to doing it. All tools and products in-hand. Just a bit lazy. Pretty good success with a prior owned 99' 986 though. Would expect good results from a polish. Other: Cab up-down operation works good once you know the procedure... windows down, hand brake up, key on,,,etc. Engine bay is beautiful if you're in to appreciating air-cooled art. Motor sound mufflers are perfect for these 993 flat6 cars in my opinion. I could go on for a while. Coupes get the love, and lately the Targa's... the cabs are hidden gems. !!

@britco4 Sorry Cappy1988 I typo’d your ID as Crappy1988…. No insult intended in the error but I am laughing a bit on my lack of accuracy… again, sorry about that!
Good Day All. Only a few more hours until this auction ends. The bids have been coming in a bit slow so hopefully they will pick up in the next few hours. Also, questions have been sparse. I would appreciate any concerns, faults, recommendations you would offer on the listing. If you are uncomfortable about anything relating to the vehicle I will do my best to get you a full disclosure answer. Many Thanks, cfb
Crappy1988 —- thumped in the video is/are the the road surface joints. Seems that sound frequency is especially noticeable in the audio recordings. Definitely not any mechanical car problem.
What’s that thumbing noise in the drive video

@Woodrm64 - No sir Porsche did not offer a hard top accessory for the 993 cabs... as far as I know. There were/and are some aftermarket options I believe. I have spent some time searching for a salvage 993 Targa in consideration of a retrofit top replacement project. Not spoken to anyone on the feasibility/difficulty but the factory Targa's are generally cab body with Targa top add. Seems pretty doable to me. Thanks, Chuck

Did the 993's come with a hard top on the cabriolets?

Good Day All. The auctioneer will be making a couple of additional corrections to the listing per my request. Nothing major: There is "boot" for the cab top when down not a "tounneau". And the 3rd sentence in first paragraph will get adjusted a bit. That's all for now. Comments and questions are very welcomed for everyones' benefit. I've been married for 30+ years so my skin is pretty tough. +/- criticism good; personal attacks bad! Thanks and let's have some fun with this.

@sfo_pete Never mind, I see it.

Yeah that was confusing to me, the Seller, also. The PcarM people got a little ahead of the situation not giving me a final review and approval before posting. They apologized and have fixed. Car is in a dry 77345 garage…
The listing says “for auction out of Pennsylvania”. With a Texas plate and listing from Humble, TX, can I assume that is a PCAR error? Or is the car located in PA currently?
