We are pleased to present this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S finished in black over a black leather interior. Representing one of the most rare and collectible 993 models on the road, the rear-wheel drive Carrera S variant was launched in 1997 featuring the iconic widened bodywork of the 911 Turbo. Reported to be one of only 759 U.S. market examples produced for 1997, this Carrera 2S is now being offered for auction in exceptional condition while displaying only 23k miles on the odometer.
The black finish on this 993 is said to be in excellent condition with only some minor rock chips. The seller indicates that the hood has been refinished for cosmetic purposes, although the rest of the paint is noted to be original (detailed images and paint meter readings have been provided in the photo gallery). The 993 Carrera S shares the widened fenders of the Turbo model along with a unique split-grille rear decklid. Highly desirable 18” factory hollow-spoke Technology wheels are equipped which are currently dressed in Pirelli P-Zero tires from 2012.
Inside, this 993 highlights a black leather interior with an 8-way power operated driver’s seat. The cabin is stated in fantastic shape with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.
Marking the final iteration of the air-cooled 911, this 993 is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6 L flat-six engine which is rated at 282 HP and 250 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 6-speed manual transmission providing for a 0-60 time of approximately 5 seconds. The factory optional Motor Sound Package has been equipped which adds a more resonant air box and louder mufflers. This 993 is said to have undergone all routine service and remain in excellent driving order.
The sale of this 993 will include a set of two keys, the original books and tools, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. This highly collectible 993 Carrera 2S makes an excellent choice for any passionate air-cooled enthusiast, do let this increasingly rare opportunity pass you by.

@DriverM I agree I bought a 1997 C4S identical miles same condition for the same price. I think these S 993's are under market and great buys right now. Looking for a white 993 RS or 996 GT2 white. Congrats on the sale nice car.
@antoniodelgad68 Thanks. It's a little less than where I truly believe the market is but it was a fair offer. Great buy for @hayesproperties. NEXT............I have some cool cars in the pipeline and Pcar is a fantastic spot to market them. Great crowd at Pcar and the watchers /bidders are knowledgeable and kind!
Thanks to all for the comments and the bids.........

@JAB12 Thanks, appreciate your knowledgeable input Re; this site.
I have had experience with them in the past ( selling )
Yes, I have 3 or 4 other 993's I am looking at as well
This one just mentioned the trade in the comments so got that idea.
I am not in any rush
@sportscarguy3 I get your point. But you wouldn't be able to strike a deal like that with a seller in the middle of a live auction. It's not in line with site policy and I have no affiliation nor interest in this listing just pointing out how it works. I suggest you do a bit more research on reputable dealers that may be able to help you with the trade down or sell of your car prior to acquiring an aircooled. They are great cars. Good luck as well.
@JAB12 My GT3 is worth more ( substantially ) than this ( any ) C 2 / S
The seller , I believe, would have to agree / negotiate an additional payment for my GT3
before I would be comfortable bidding.
Frankly this fine example of a C 2 / S is already at my limit
That is why I do not like the " auction " sites
Too many people willing to " over pay "
imho
Bid in the amount of $95,250
@sportscarguy3 You bid, win, then the seller takes your car as part of the final payment. What you can't get out of is the Pcar fees. This one looks like it will break $100K in a few mins. Good luck! Glad I already have a C2S, otherwise would be all over this. Great Car. to seller: GLWA!
Bid in the amount of $95,000
@JAB12 Not sure how it all works
However, w / o selling my GT3 I do not have the funds for the ( any ) 993
That is why , after I saw another bidder mention a trade, I inquired
@DriverM Those were smily faces and NOT question marks by the way.
@sportscarguy3 You would have to win the bid here first then close the business side of things with a trade per seller's already confirmed acceptance. I am watching this one too. Good luck!
@bdf11 Thank you for the kind words. I feel safe at Pcar!!???
Bid in the amount of $92,250
Looked at the photos beautiful car, deserves a nice home
@rickg87 agreed the Bilsteins on my C4S transformed the car, the original Monroe shocks I am sorry to say are crap
Bid in the amount of $92,000
Bid in the amount of $88,000
This seller is a gentleman for sure. Wonderful car as well!
@DriverM Well, a little more than a straight trade I'm afraid !! : )
But certainly interested
@Ssaa77 Normally, a PPI is done prior to any purchase or bid but I am so confident that this car will pass with flying colors, I'd be glad to say the sale is subject to a PPI by a well known and honest Porsche specialist. I would guarantee that there are no major items needed. I just wouldn't want to hear about minor items not that I believe there are any........
Bid in the amount of $86,000
@sportscarguy3 I believe the shocks are original. If you are asking me if I'd take the 997.2 GT3 on trade..........HELL YES!!! The 993 C2S received an oil change last year. I will get a copy of that receipt from the last owner. There is nothing abnormal or suspect with the history of this car and to the BEST of my knowledge and experience, there are NO immediate needs whatsoever.
@Dinomartina E mail sent. Please let me know if you need anything else......
Bid in the amount of $85,000
Sorry if this is a dumb question but how would the PPI work? Can we bid to win the auction but have a PPI done to verify condition before payment? Or is this not an option on this auctions and we roll the dice?
@DriverM sure thing! Can I get your email address?
Again, original shocks / suspension
Last service ?
Work performed ?
PS. I sent you a direct message
Re: possible trade w/ funds for my
2010 GT 3 ( 15 k )
Which I am selling to purchase another Air Cooled Porsche
@ungvar I prefer the black calipers myself
@Dinomartina YES!!! I'd gladly take that car on trade. Can you send me a detailed description and some photos?
Gorgeous car. Any interest in possible trade in + $$ ?
2001 996 TT with 11000 miles
I have the same car and miles C4S. This car great! Someone should buy it.
Worth way more than 76K. Have a proper PPI since no main record's.
Shocks look original. Put Bilstien PSS10 shocks on it and will transform the handling to amazing. 23 year old car and no paint protection back then. Looks great
@sportscarguy3 I am not sure about the shocks but I'd guess that they are the originals. The flaws you see in the photos are dust particles. There are no road chips. The camera that was used is incredibly accurate and picked up EVERYTHING!
PS. When was the car's last " full " service ? Details of work performed ?
Any major work performed ( I understand there are only 23K miles , just asking )
Very handsome Porsche !
Questions
1. Original shocks ? ( Monroe's ? )
2. Throughout the many, well done, photos I see what I believe are small chips in the pictures.
I am assuming these are just camera flaws and not very small paint chips / road wear and tear.
Bid in the amount of $76,000
@kjkaley No rust whatsoever anywhere!!
@DriverM - fantastic looking 993. Paint does look but have to ask, how does the paint look around the window seals (front windshield, rear and both left/right side rear seat). Is there any evidence of rust bubbling? Thanks.
@ungvar Thanks for pointing that out, my mistake and I stand corrected!
Bid in the amount of $75,243
@ lekrz It is the way it should be - C2S should have black calipers. C4S on the other hand has red ones ( and turbo).
I just located the paint meter and hood sticker photos. I resent them to Pacr and hope they get posted soon......
@lekrz It has a hood sticker. I sent photos and paint meter readings to Pcar but can't find the photos!!!! I will retake them and post them ASAP......
Great video, but curious about black calipers on a S? Also option code seems to be missing on underside of hood. Porsche will not issue a new one in the event of frontal damage. Not saying this is the case, but clarification would be helpful.
I sold the car with a service history but unfortunately the owner was recently divorced and the sale is a result of that situation. I know........a sad day but there is another car in his future. The service records ( which were just normal service and maintenance ) were lost ( or destroyed ) as part of the divorce. Sorry.
I submitted paint meter readings to Pcar and they have them. They can be posted if someone would like to see them along with the hood sticker.........Regards All and have a great weekend.....
To Seller: I sent you a message through PCARMarket, thanks.
Any service records?
Bid in the amount of $74,993
@siabond26 Thank you. I had my videographer shoot the photos and he did capture some amazing shots. He is very talented indeed.
@Charlie83 Hello Charlie,
There are NO CHIPS at all on the front hood. Some of the photos are so incredibly detailed, they are actually showing dust. The hood is perfect. The paint is non metallic. Just pure Black. I sold the car to the last owner with ALL original paint and there were a few stone chips on it. He wanted perfection and had the hood repainted by a talented painter. It's perfect! It was painted 3 years ago when I sold him the car. Hope that helps.......
Bid in the amount of $70,001
To Seller: I really like your main picture. You captured the most perfect image of your gorgeous 993 C2S next to a very peaceful and beautiful lakefront with the perfect timing of the sunset. The beauty of your 993 with her wide body curves and hips is definitely glowing on your main picture. It looks like a total GEM!
Bid in the amount of $65,000
Is the paint metallic black? Also any chips on the paint and when was the hood refinished? Thanks!
