Featuring special engine tuning, unique body styling, and carbon-fiber interior accents, the 993 Turbo S was created by Porsche’s Exclusive Department in 1997 as the ultimate 911 Turbo. A total of 345 units were produced in total, of which 183 were delivered to the United States. This example comes finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over a Cashmere Beige and Midnight Blue leather interior with a carbon fiber steering wheel. Delivered new in Texas on March 8th, 1997, this example remained with the original owner until 2015 when it joined a private world-class collection. One of the rarest and most exclusive Porsches of the air-cooled era, this highly optioned Turbo S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri showing just over 22k miles on the odometer.
The specialized body styling of the Turbo S includes air intakes integrated into the rear fenders as well as Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, front brake cooling ducts, quad exhaust outlets, and Speed Yellow painted brake calipers. This example comes finished in Ocean Blue Metallic and rides on factory 18” hollow-spoke wheels fitted with model logo center caps.
The Turbo S features exclusive carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin as well as aluminum-look instrument dials, stainless steel door sills, and leather electric seats with Porsche crested headrests. The cabin of this 993 is appointed with Cashmere Beige leather contrasted by a Midnight Blue dashboard and carpeting. Options include supple leather seats, footwell lighting, an exclusive carbon fiber steering wheel with a leather airbag cover, the Digital Sound Package, self-dimming mirrors & rain sensor, and a CD-holder center console.
Powered by a 3.6-liter flat-six engine featuring an alloy crankcase and cylinder heads, the Turbo S received larger K24 twin-turbochargers than a standard 993 Turbo along with a revised Bosch Motronic engine-management system and additional oil cooler for an output of 424 HP. All four wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission and stopping power comes from large cross-drilled brakes. The seller states a complete service was carried out within the last 200 miles.
This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, toolkit, car cover, and a clean title.

PCar, btw, I think the report of the previous purchase price was just reporting a fact and no speculation. People will bid what they think it is worth to them, and they may have missed that auction. I see no harm to it IIMO.

@estiles unfortunately we had to remove your comment. We kindly ask that there not be speculation as to the reserve amount. There is no value to that discussion and is damaging to the auction. Please let the process work.

@estiles dealers lose money on cars all the time, will be interesting to watch for sure
It was purchased at auction about a month ago for about 550, so dealer can't break even unless this is nicely above that.
@stim4u we need to constantly remind the community that the asking price a seller had prior to an auction is often irrelevant. The reserve is set between PCAR and the seller, we can assure you it is in a very fair market range so please don't let that distract you.
Bid in the amount of $365,000
none of us collectors is dropping 650K on this auction...
good luck. I will provide a bid soon.
@estiles, completely agree. Especially at this level of car, communication and attention to detail is key. If it helps, a bit of googling shows the car with these same wheels when auctioned by Gooding in 2016. A good shop could refinish in the original hyper silver assuming these are still Technology wheels.
Love the rare spec, just too many questions for me. Given the seller has a buy it now price at $669k on their website, I think we know how this one will turn out....
@hallrite01 check out “buy it now” price on dealer’s website. Maybe that’s why.
@estiles Obviously dealer doesn’t understand how important good communication is on these auction platforms. The dealer has a very good reputation and has really nice cars but man I hope they do better here in the few hours.
It seems like a lot of auctions that don't go well end up that way not because of the car per se, but rather the suspicion based on how the story evolves. I still don't get the wheel situation. The window sticker does not show anything about the wheels, so they should be the Turbo S wheels, which they do not appear to be. A few people have asked. Now the paint story seems to be moving. Not sure, but odd communication could be very expensive.

I'm confused.....seller states couple days ago- "The car reads 4.5mil - 5.5mil with the exception of the hood of the car, which reads 9.5mil - 11mil".......today very limited paint reading photos show the front fenders are 8.26 and 9.21....????? can seller kindly explain?

@DJATL Since the arrival of the car, we have changed all fluids and air filters and completed our inspection processes. Everything on the car is in solid working order and we even applied a 5-year self-healing ceramic coating to the car.
Paint meter photos are now posted.
@Teddyx3 Yep! Everything works properly.

Why can’t we get certain answers?
Beautiful example. Is the seller willing to answer the questions about the wheels, original wheel center caps and paint meter readings please? I think it may help the outcome. I am sure the dealer has access to a paint meter. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

seller thanks for updates. Few of us want the service records in full, any oil leaks active? The rims are original but resurfaced? Nice to have that history as well...
thanks.
@DSCO Have the wheels been refinished, because they do not appear to be the same finish at the normal Turbo S wheels, and the caps, if not original, should be a different finish from the wheels.
The Turbo S wheels were a "hyper" silver whereas the turbo wheels and other 911 wheels were simply silver. The caps shown were not made in hyper silver to my knowledge. It would be helpful to picture the caps against the wheels so buyers could see whether the caps and wheels match and are hyper silver.
@estiles These are absolutely the original wheels. We have the original center caps with the car, but the last owner preferred the look of the ones on the car now.
Hello everyone!
We apologize for the delay in responding as we are closed on Saturdays and Sundays. We did the paint meter readings this morning. The car reads 4.5mil - 5.5mil with the exception of the hood of the car, which reads 9.5mil - 11mil. The previous owner had rock chips repaired, and it was done in such a way that the chips are now entirely undetectable. We also applied a 5-year self-healing ceramic coating as well for paint protection.
Biggest issue is that the original wheels are gone and are virtually irreplaceable. I bought a spare set many years ago while they were still available just in case. The buyer of this car will probably want to address that issue to restore the car to what it is supposed to be.
the interior would be even more perfect if all these gorgeous instrument dials, buttons and radio could be replaced with a 48" OLED screen to control everything ?? JK. GLWTA!
Pop corn time.
Glws.
