Up for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Targa Tiptronic presented in Ocean Blue Metallic over a Grey leather interior. Representing one of only 567 U.S. spec examples built for the model year, this 993 features full glass sliding Targa roof that provides for an open-air driving experience with the press of a button. Showcasing exciting factory options, this 1997 example is now being offered for auction in excellent driving condition bearing approximately 78k miles on the odometer.
As can be seen in the images provided in the photo gallery, this 993’s Ocean Blue Metallic finish remains in great shape with minimal signs of road going wear. The Carfax report does note damage to the front bumper, however, the seller states that no incidence occurred under his ownership. The 993 generation debuted a newly designed sliding glass roof which eliminated the inconvenience of having to store the Targa top when not in use. This example highlights a distinctive “basket handle” rear spoiler as well as special 17” 2-piece Targa wheels.
Inside, the driver is greeted by a Grey leather upholstered cabin with 8-way power adjustable seats in pleated leather. The interior is shown to be excellent condition, although some minor creasing has been noted by the seller. The left side door check is missing and the sunshade for the panoramic roof also needs to be replaced. Exclusive factory options include shift and brake levers in Light Rootwood, rear seats in pleated leather, an onboard computer, steering-wheel mounted Tiptronic buttons and a Blaupunkt cassette radio with 6-disc CD changer. All gauges, electrical components and accessories are reported to be fully functional.
Marking the final iteration of the air-cooled 911, this 993 is equipped with a venerable 3.6L flat-six engine rated at 282 HP. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission making for a refined and accommodating driving experience. In the last 1k miles, a full service has been carried out which included fluid and filter changes as well as A/C maintenance. Accompanied by a collection of records, this 993 shows to be up to date on all scheduled service and is said to remain in excellent running order.
The sale of this Targa will include a set of two keys, original books and accessories, service records and a clear title. Do not miss your opportunity to enjoy open-air cruising this season behind the wheel of this rare and beautifully appointed 1997 993 Targa.
