Up for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera 4S finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a black interior. Sporting wide Turbo-derived bodywork and a naturally aspirated flat-six sending power to all four wheels, this original Carrera 4S is one of the most desirable 993s of all. This 1997 example came factory equipped with the Motor Sound Package, a sunroof, and 8-way power-adjustable seats with driver-side lumbar support. It was acquired by the current owner in 2014 and is now being offered for auction out of Florida with approximately 27k miles showing on the odometer.
The wide bodywork of this C4S is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic and the 18” Turbo wheels come fitted with optional colored Porsche center crests. The clear stone guards over the rear fenders show signs of age and some small cosmetic imperfections are depicted in the photo gallery. CARFAX shows salvage and rebuilt titles issued by the states of New York and Texas in November of 2005. Paint meter readings are provided in the gallery along with a Lemon Squad report which found very good panel fitment and no signs of damage, rust, or leaks. The factory wheels come dressed in a set of Sumitomo HTR Z5 tires dated from 2018.
The cabin is trimmed in black partial leather and features an upgraded RS-style shifter, rubber floor mats, and an original CDR-210 radio. The Lemon Squad report found all gauges and accessories to be fully functional and the factory specifications label on the underside of the hood lists the following options:
This 993 features an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six Varioram engine that sends as much as 282 HP to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox. The factory optioned Motor Sound Package provides a more aggressive tone with a revised airbox and louder mufflers. Standard equipment on the 4S includes a lowered suspension and more powerful brakes derived from the 911 Turbo. CARFAX shows the last documented service to have been completed by Suncoast Motorsports Porsche in December of 2019 at 27,400 miles.
This sale will include a set of two remote keys, the original owner's manual, and a clean Florida title showing rebuilt and salvage brands previously issued in Texas and New York.

Congratulations buyer and seller.
Aiello11 worked for this one, $ 55 K to $ 82 K !
Sold for $82,500
Bid in the amount of $82,500
OK.... Sale ??
Also, shades of early / mid 2020 ! What a C 4 S, with 50 to 60 k miles, should ( used to ) cost !
( not " salvaged " title of course )
Never purchased a salvaged title car, however, I assume you just have ( in this case ) a nice Porsche to keep and drive for as long as you want ! ?
My insurance company, State Farm Northern California, advised that they will not insure a salvaged car.
My .02c, contact the prior owner during the salvage/theft and get some clear answers. Talk to the insurance company, try the best you can to get some provenance to clear up the titling issues. With the proper docs, this car would almost double in value. Certainly worth the effort...

@FlatSixer no rust on the car.
@FlatSixer Just helpful fyi
They have cosmoline in that area and also and if look at under car photos you see no rust. Real clean!
What about pic 95 under the spare? Is that rust? Any way to remove the spare and take a quick pic or report back? Thanks again.
@benzgarden I have sent another picture in close-up so you can see in better detail. Your welcome

Thanks glad to know that.

Pics 150 and 151 both look like they were touched up in MS Paint???
@benzgarden Ouch good catch. No bueno.

Pic 150 - is that rust in the corner floor pan? That and speaker grille is strongly suggesting this was in a previous flood. Due to unknown I’m hesitant to bid.

@FlatSixer Good Morning, The lemon squad report was completed on 11/08/2021 for the Vin listed above. PC market has the complete report. There is nothing in the report regarding final sale. I am not sure if they can add it to the listing. I will ask.
Good morning. Are there additional pages to the Lemon Square report that shows the date and the VIN associated with the report? Also is this report and any other records included with the sale? Thanks
Bid in the amount of $52,750
@jscommercial @jscommercial, FYI the grills just pop off but I understand. Thanks
@FlatSixer I have taken pictures with the formats removed and sent in to post. I am not going to remove the speaker grills. Sorry…
@Marty993 I purchased the tires from tire rack May 2020. Michelin Sports were not available anywhere at the time. I still have warranty on the tires until May 2022. With the limited amount of miles that I put on the car per year the tires are sufficient until I could get the next set.
The rust and mildew on the speaker grills definitely shows water/moisture has been present in the interior. Can you provide pictures of the speakers with the grills removed? Also pictures of the floorboards with the rubber mats removed. Thanks in advance.
Bid in the amount of $52,500
The description shows tires have date code 2018. You purchased 2 year old tires in May of 2020? I would end up putting a better brand if won, just wanted to know if its okay to drive it home 1500 miles. I don’t like old tires on powerful sport cars. GLWTA
@Marty993 I sent in pictures of both speaker grills on the driver and passenger side. I am not aware of any water or flood damage. The tires are in great shape and were installed on 5/2020.
@karlosism The title in New York said salvage. The title in Texas said rebuilt title. The Florida title says salvage/rebuilt title. I brought in my information and registered the title in my name. I do not know what the title would be in another state. I have full coverage insurance on the car in Florida.
Just to learn here...
So, how is this branded title for the car transferred to another state (say, California)?
Since it has been repaired, etc does the title still say "salvaged" or "clean" ?
Also, seller, do you currently have full car insurance coverage on this car?
When you bought the car, what extra steps were needed to register/insure the car in your state?
thanks
Picture 75 - is the right side speaker grille rusted or just dirty? I've seen similar discoloration in flood cars and gives a good determination of the water line. Can you please send take a better picture or explain whats going on with the grille? Tires are about 5 years old, do you recommend replacing?
@dennisconnie2 I purchased the car from a dealer not an individual. The dealer had the car inspected and assured me it was stolen and returned undamaged. And went on to tell me that the owner was paid in full by his insurance company, which branded the title salvage/rebuilt. I had someone inspect the car and validated what the dealer had told me. I purchased the car in 2014. I added my wife to the title in 2017. When I received the car in 2014 it more than exceeded my expectations.
Happy bidding

Please provide detailed explanations
for both of the current salvage titles??
Thanks
Dennis
@jscommercial Did the person you bought car from go in any detail of what condition the car was recovered in or any repair work done damages etc. Not trying to beat a dead horse but would assist in making an informed bid. Thanks.
@benzgarden I would recommend that you contact your insurance provider. They should be able to answer your questions.
How much is the value affected due to title status? Also, would there be an issue getting full coverage insurance? If something happens and it’s considered a total loss, would insurance company pay out less at time of claim due to title?
Bid in the amount of $51,243
@artichoke I believe the difference maybe between the S and the 4S the car is the exact same as when I purchased it.
I was fully aware of the title issue when I purchased the car. The seller explained that the car was stolen and recovered therefore it had a branded title. I did not receive any documentation but I had an on-site inspector over the phone give me a detailed breakdown of the vehicle status. Based on his assessment I purchased the car. I had no intention of selling the car. I will do a video tomorrow morning of a cold start and a full walk around the vehicle. All on site inspections are welcome.

@jscommercial do yourself a favour and familiarize yourself with the nuances and vagaries of the online Auction market: you bring a car to sell with anything on CarFax and that is that: there is your "elephant".
We (everyone) now would appreciate that whole story behind loss/theft/vandalism/crash/salvage along with Invoices and Photos of the condition after the incident and before remediation.
Thank you in advance.
GLWS.
2 questions:
The engine lid and rear spoiler is not typical for a 993 S.
Can you please detail the Salvage/Rebuilt Title issues???
Thanks,
Bob
You think the elephant in the room is your kids are getting older so you need to sell this needle in a haystack.. Got it. I’m sure we’re all feeling much better now.

@KvN So here is the story and the elephant in the room.
Prior to purchasing this car, I search for two years for the specific color combination with a manual transmission with low miles. After losing on two or three opportunities for similar car with higher miles and in my opinion the less desirable gray interior. This car came available and I wasted no time in purchasing. I felt like I found a needle in the haystack.
Unfortunately, due to some unforeseen circumstances and our children are now driving or will be driving soon. I have a limited amount of space for the car. We have enjoyed the car for many years it has been a great weekend driver for the family. I would drive the car proximately once or twice a month just to get it out on the road to hear the sound of the engine.
I am sure that I am going to regret selling this car in the future, but I do not have an option at this time. Please feel free to schedule a test drive and a viewing of the car for inspection purposes if desired. It will meet or exceed your expectations as it has done mine. Happy bidding!
