One of the most sought-after variants of the final air-cooled 911, the 993 Carrera S combines wide Turbo-style bodywork with a traditional naturally aspirated flat-six engine sending power to the rear wheels. This 1997 example was sold new in Japan and comes factory-finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over Black partial leather upholstery. It features a rare “slicktop” sunroof delete specification, an optional 4-speed Tiptronic S automatic transaxle, steering wheel shift buttons, power seats, 18” 911 Turbo-look wheels, automatic climate control, an onboard computer, upgraded Bilstein coilovers, and an aftermarket JVC head unit. Imported from Japan to Canada in 2025, this Carrera S is now being offered for auction with approximately 78k kilometers (48k miles) showing on the odometer.
Compared to a standard 993 Carrera, the C2S variant features a model-specific split-grille rear decklid and wide fenders, bumpers, and side skirts from the contemporary 911 Turbo. This non-sunroof example is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (L92U) and features headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, RoW-spec side marker lights, heated power mirrors, a speed-activated rear spoiler, dual exhaust outlets, and black Porsche-branded brake calipers. The car rides on 18” 911 Turbo-look wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps, and the seller indicates the tires need replacement due to age. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is appointed with Black partial leather upholstery and matching carpets. Accessories include power-adjustable seats, a four-spoke leather steering wheel with Tiptronic shift buttons, power windows, a central locking system, an onboard computer, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an aftermarket JVC stereo. The original Porsche-branded radio is included in the sale.
Equipped with a VarioRam resonance induction system, the air-cooled 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine was factory-rated at 282 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Tiptronic S automatic transaxle with a manual shifting mode. The car features cross-drilled disc brakes, a multi-link LSA rear suspension, and upgraded Bilstein coilovers. Records provided by the seller indicate that the fluids were recently replaced, along with the distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, drive belts, and brake pads.
This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a tire inflator, and a Canadian registration.
The seller would like you to know: “This is a great C2S for anybody looking to avoid the stop-and-go traffic in a manual transmission. These vehicles are becoming more valuable as only so many were made. Great car ready for a new home.”

Final 40 minutes!
There’s been a lot of back-and-forth on the tariffs. To clarify: TFX is consistently clearing cars like this at 2.5%, while some brokers are still quoting a flat 15% for European-built vehicles. I have direct contacts with both brokers—if you’d like to speak with them personally, just reach out to me and I’ll be happy to connect you so you can get the most accurate information.
Bid with confidence—this is a well-serviced, beautifully kept 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera 2S that’s ready for its next home. A rare opportunity to enjoy one of the very best air-cooled 911s in fantastic condition.
Let’s see it go to a great new custodian today!
@emerge949 I just paid 10% reciprocal on a 1967 911S I just imported from Germany. My shippers (West Coast Shipping) refused to clear the car through customs without payment of the tariff. I went to CARS Europe, who I've used in the past and asked them to clear the car for me and they told me the exact same thing.
I had to eat the tariff. Not happy about it as I wouldn't have bought the car if I'd known I'd be on the hook for another $25k.
Bid in the amount of $51,000
@Bored are we sure that a classic car, one that is 25+ years old, is subjected to this new tariff legislation? My thought is these new tariffs are not applicable here.
Bid in the amount of $50,000
so we should assume at least 15% tariff on purchase price, correct?
Mr. Seller. could you connect me with your transport broker?
@Pcajiri tariff is based on your current purchase price.
This is the latest update from my shippers;
Current structure for vehicles manufactured in these countries arriving in August 2025:
EU -15% duty as the baseline minimum on all imports 15%
Japan - 2.5% base + 15% reciprocal - 17.5%
UK 2.5% base + 10% reciprocal -12.5%
It's all based on country of manufacture not where you are importing from.
Bid in the amount of $33,000
Images of documentation have been added to the listing gallery.
@bowser how do they figure the tariff amount out? Is it by the price of the car sold as of now or 20 years ago?
I just paid an extra 10% on a 67 Porsche I imported from Germany. My shippers would not clear the car without payment and they sent me the emails they’d received from Customs confirming it was payable. Apparently there are shippers who are still openly charging the 2.5% but rumor has it you will have to eventually pay the tariff (unless they get overturned) plus penalties and interest. Just my two cents.
you could talk to Lawrence at
cfr classics importers
, have had many cars imported with him and always have the truth told, cheers, kevin
i have also been told the 15% tariff is applicable to all imports manufactured in the EU, hopefully this will get overturned but for the moment ....not....
@bowser if you can contact TFX international that’s who has been crossing cars at 2.5% duty only being over 26 years.
Ask for Adam or Monica.
We just had another 993 C2S cross along with a few Mercedes.
Contact me direct for more info
I have a message from a customs broker confirming that 15% reciprocal tariffs are being applied to imports of all cars that were manufactured in the EU (including 25+ years old), regardless of where the car is today. @Envypete could you provide more info / customs broker that can confirm what you're saying about 2.5%? Thanks

Do you know why there this car does not have the Option Code Sticker under the front hood?
@Envypete what is the small brokerage fee to import the car to the US?
I'd like to chat about import scenario to US. Worried about all regs. Can I call your biz to discuss? Thx

@AK9eleven There would be standard U.S. import duty applicable to a 1997 Porsche, which falls under the 25-year rule. This means the vehicle is exempt from EPA and DOT compliance requirements, and the only federal tariff due is 2.5% of the purchase price.
There is typically a small brokerage fee for handling the customs paperwork, as well as the cost of enclosed transportation right to your doorstep, which we can arrange at very competitive rates.
If you let me know where in the U.S. the car would be going, I’d be happy to provide you with a more accurate estimate on transport.
State taxes would depend on your state.
Feel free to each out anytime.
Thanks.
@RASKL It’s a very straightforward process. We work with a trusted broker who handles all of the paperwork on your behalf—just a couple of quick forms to fill out, and they take care of the rest, including arranging enclosed transportation. Here’s a link to the company we use: TFX International.
If you’d like, I can also connect you directly with my broker so he can walk you through the details step by step. And of course, if you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me anytime.
And any additional taxes due upon importing to USA ?
What is the process of bringing a car to the US and how much of a hassle is it? Anybody done it before who can weigh in? Thanks

Hello and welcome to the auction of this stunning 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera 2S – a car that needs no introduction for air-cooled enthusiasts.
Finished in timeless Arctic Silver over black leather, this C2S pairs one of Porsche’s most iconic color combinations with the widebody silhouette exclusive to the S model – muscular, elegant, and unmistakably 993. It’s a design that marked the end of the air-cooled era and arguably, the peak of Porsche’s analog driving experience. Some might say one of the best 911’s ever built.
Equipped with the Tiptronic automatic transmission, this 911 is the perfect solution for those who want the classic air-cooled experience without the left-leg workout in city traffic. Whether you’re commuting, carving coastal roads, or simply convincing your spouse that this isn’t a third car just for you – the ease and comfort of this C2S make it a brilliant all-arounder. Effortless to drive, yet still a head-turner at every stoplight.
This particular example is exceptionally clean and comes freshly serviced with new spark plugs, cap and rotor, fresh fluids and filters, brand new brakes all around, and new headlight lenses. It’s turn-key and ready to enjoy. Factory radio? Check. Tool kit? Present. Owner’s manual and both keys? Included.
Having owned many 993s over the years, I can confidently say this one checks all the boxes. It’s a sharp, honest car that needs nothing – and it’s ready for a new custodian to carry the torch.
Finally crossing this C2S into the USA will come at only 2.5% duty being 25 years or older. This has been confirmed by TFX as we just exported another 993 C2S.
Bid with confidence and let’s find this beautiful machine the home it deserves. Good luck!
