Finished in Ocean Blue Metallic over Classic Grey leather upholstery, this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Coupe pairs a 6-speed manual transmission with its air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine. It was also factory-specified with a full power driver’s seat, an AM/FM radio with a CD player, the HiFi Sound System, and more. Originally purchased at Niello Porsche of Sacramento, this meticulously maintained one-owner 993 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with less than 86k miles showing on the odometer.

This 993 was ordered in Ocean Blue Metallic. Equipment includes fog lights, headlight washers, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets. Pure 9 Design side decals have been applied, and 17” Turbo-style wheels are mounted with Kumho Ecsta tires from 2013-2014. The factory-optioned 17” Cup wheels with colored Porsche crests are said to accompany the sale. The seller notes minor blemishes near the headlights and rear wheel arches, the hood and front bumper have been refinished, and paint protection film has been applied to the headlights. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The driver is greeted with Classic Grey partial leather upholstery. A sunroof is equipped as standard, while options include a full power driver’s seat, an AM/FM radio with a CD player, and the HiFi Sound System. An OEM three-spoke steering wheel has been installed, along with Pure 9 Design gauge trim and aluminum floor covers. The seller notes that the upper and lower outer panels of the driver’s seat were reupholstered, and the entire seat has been re-dyed.

Power comes from a 3.6-liter flat-six engine producing up to 282 HP, delivered to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller notes that service at 85,600 miles included new front brake rotors and Textar brake pads. At 84,700 miles, the clutch, pressure plate, clutch release bearing, bolts, and dual-mass flywheel were replaced. Additional maintenance at that time included replacing the fan bearing, pulley, and belt, along with an oil and filter change.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, sales literature, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, and a battery charger. The original steering wheel, exhaust system, and camber plates are also included, along with an extra set of wheels.

The seller would like you to know: “I purchased ‘Blue Bayou’ new from Niello Porsche on February 10, 1997. For most of his life, he has been one of the most "well known" 993s in Zone 7 and Northern California. Participating in and winning hundreds of PCA and SCCA Autocrosses.  Also, the three Parade AXs entered Sacramento in 2000, Boise in 2002, and Spokane as recently as 2017. Also, a few hundred tours, some rallies, and some concourse. He was always maintained in the highest condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and has a huge folder of service records. After his first 6k miles, S-CAR-GO upgraded his suspension to "factory" M030 and added Koni adjustable Sport Shocks to the package. He has some ‘cosmetic enhancements,’ such as personalized sill plates, aluminum track mats, and trim rings on the gauges, that can be easily replaced and returned to stock carpets, etc.  The clutch, pressure plate, and dual mass flywheel were replaced less than 1000 miles ago, the front rotors and pads are new, and he has B&M Short Shift linkage, Ground Control Camber plates, front strut bar, Fab Speed Exhaust, and tips. OEM Cup wheels and Italian Turbo Twists are both included, as well as all the other stock components that were replaced. The interior is in like new condition, with no worn side and bottom seat bolsters, and paint correction was performed to make the exterior flawless. It is one of the nicest, cleanest 97 993s you will find... other than a never-driven trailer queen. My plan was to keep Bayou forever...but now that I have a few more Porsches in the garage, he is not getting the attention and care he deserves from me. Rather than see him be neglected in a corner of the garage, I hope the right person will adopt him, so he can be someone's first priority and continue to be driven regularly and enjoyed for the next 27 years of his life....”

Waiting for this auction to light up.....

  • Bobp993 (seller) 6 days, 4 hoursago

I know this goes back to the CarFax at the begining of the auction, and probably doesn't really matter at this point but..... When I bought Bayou in Feb 1997 I was engaged to someone and we had just built a house together and actually moved in Feb 1997 as well. So her name and mine were both on the title to the car and the house. We ended up going our seperate ways in 1998 so both the car and the house had to be re-titled. (Wonder how I forgot that... probablly "burried it", and didn't want to dig it back up...) Bob

Kind of a bittersweet day… I’m pretty sure Bayou will have a new caretaker after the 2-minute drill is over… no matter what the final bid is I’ll be a little sad to see him go, but I’m sure the buyer will be very happy with their purchase when they see Bayou in person and drive him … Good Luck

We did the clutch, release bearing, DMF and the bolts. Alos did the belts with pulley update, replaced the fan hub bearing and the rubber air duct that cracks. Inv#25233 dated June 13, 2022. Not sure why Carfax is not showing. I sent Carfax an email and a copy of the invoice to get correct the Carfax. I have been selling Bob parts for this car since 1999. He does most of the work and has us do things he doesn't want to do. This is one of the cleanest 993's we have had in our shop.

This 993 is spectacular.I have known Bob for 35 years. He has always taken very good care of the car. It was always garaged. Never been in an accident. He has won many concourse with this car. It is very original and everything on the car is 100% original For a collector this will be excellent. One owner. It’s all documented all the service records. He has everything Bob is a Porsche club member of Sacramento. He has participated in all kinds of Porsche events with this car, including Porsche parades, anutocross, and Concourse. This will be a great buy for somebody.

@jshelton thank you for your comments. I may be a bit tainted because it’s my car… but dozens of people who have seen it in person have commented on what an excellent car it is , and it has done well in concours….guess we will find out what the current bidder’s opinions are on Wednesday, thanks again for you comments….Bob

  • jshelton (registered bidder) 1 week, 1 dayago

Obviously everyone is entitled to their perspective, but I think you’re going to be a bit on the disappointed side if you think this presents as an excellent example… it seems like a very honest and good example.

Hagerty Insurance is one of the largest Classic Car insurance companies in the US. They track the vehicles they insure and publish a monthly Vehicle Valuation Report for their clients. According to their latest report, my 993 in Good condition is worth $93k, in Excellant is $121k, and Concours is $155k. In my opinion, at a minimum Bayou is in Excellant condition, or better. Just a data point I'm considering for the auction. Thanks Bob

    @Kevinmr n
Nothing else that I am aware of needs updating…. Thanks 🙏

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Kevinmr Yes, all the oem pieces are included with the sale.
Mufflers, front shock mounts, carpet, 4 spoke steering wheel, CUP wheels…..and in the unlikely event that there are any “shadows” from the paint fading on the doors, but not under the P9D decals, we have extra paint from painting the hood and bumper and my painter can very easily “blend” the bottom of the doors (at my expense) so they are perfect with no sign of the lettering….

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Kevinmr Hi Kevin … the aluminum track mats say Pure 9 Design, just take out and put carpet back in. Stainless steel door threshold plates say “blue bayou”, again just lift off to expose original thresholds underneath. Vinyl decals will come off easily with a heat gun and plastic squeegee, with no physical damage to the paint / clear-coat.
SAI fault was resolved with some solvents a guitar string and a couple drive cycles… never come back. Thanks for your interest!

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Bobp993 also forgot to ask two other questions....how many pieces of trim have "blue bayou" or "Pure 9" on them, and for those pieces, are the OEM pieces still with the car?

And aside from the tires that need to be replaced, is there anything else that needs updating? Thanks.

  • Kevinmr (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

@Bobp993, nice car that I looked at on the PCA mart several times but didn't reach out. Two questions: are the "Pure 9" decals removable without paint issue, and were the past failed smog checks due to SAI? If so, how were those remedied? Thanks.

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

Absolutely… but I tried to send you my phone number, but admin says I cannot share contact information? Maybe Admin can respond with a suggestion how you can see the car in person? Thanks again for your interest… Bob

  • squidder (registered bidder) 1 week, 3 daysago

Beautiful car - perfect spec and color. I am within driving distance to you. Could we schedule a time for me to come by and take a test drive?

  • bphillyer (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

    oops! No accidents here!

  • bphillyer (registered bidder) 1 week, 4 daysago

    And the accident?

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@bphillyer Thanks... it came with Non-sport suspension, I think I mentioned in the write up that a 6000 mi I had S-CAR-GO install the complete Factory M030, progressive springs, sport suspension, but replaced the BOGE shocks with Koni yellow Sport Adjustable shocks. The suspension and alignment works great, and is not harsh riding either.
I have the title in front of me and it says: Issue date 01/07/99 and Expiration 2/10/1999..I purchasrd 2/10/1997...Don't remember anything wierd, but CA must have re-issued the title for some reason, maybe dealer was lein holder the first two years? But I paid cash
I have a 3 inch thick folder of Maintenance and service records and receipts. I also have a 2-post lift in my garage. Some of the service was done by myself (oil and filters) and other service and any repairs by IPB Autosport in Sacramento. CarFax does not get any info from independent shops.
Niello Porsche did the oil / filter service, parking brake service, and a full service before I went to Parade in Spokane in 2017... the three services CarFax has listed. Bob

@leigh Exhaust has no effect on SMOG, needs SMOG every other year in CA. I should have done it last month but was in Hospital for a couple weeks. I will get done before the auction closes...Thanks

@Megatron335 took Cold start video... waiting for Pcar to upload

  • bphillyer (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Beautiful car. Looks like you take great care of it.

If you’re winning auto crosses, the suspension must be great. Did it come with the sports suspension?

Can you please help me understand where/why it says you are the “second owner” on CarFax?

Shows 3 service records on CarFax. Were there more?

Thank you for your time. GLWA!

  • Megatron335 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Can we also get a cold startup video when you get a chance?

  • leigh (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Do you have current tags ? Has the car passed smog recently with the aftermarket exhaust?

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@Megatron335 Notice the date code on the track / AX tires 2013......was pushing it to AX at Parade in 2017

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@Bobp993 But his favorite track was Laguna Seca ....

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@Brian_S .. the car is located in Folsom Ca ... 1.2 miles from Folsom Prison if you'd like to visit? Its 25 miles from downtown Sacramento.

  • Bobp993 (seller) 1 week, 5 daysago

@Megatron335 ... No, Bayou has not been used for track in over 10 years. I drove to Spokane WA ing 2017 for the Porsche Parade (and won my AX class) and basically put him into early retirement. If you notice he has been driven only 3400 miles since the Parade in 2017. I've only done a few tours and concours events a year with him. An average of less than 500 miles per year. Barley enough miles to do an oil change (which I do myself, and has been done, and doesn's show on car fax either) I have several other cars, a full track 914 3.2L for trackdays, and I guess IPB Autosport, who did the Clutch work, is an independent shop that doesn't report to CarFax.

Where is this car located? Google is coming up short.

  • Megatron335 (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

Beautiful car. Can you explain why the car has no carfax records since 2022? Exclusively using for the track since that point?
