Now available for auction is this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Black over a black interior. As the final iteration of Porsche’s air-cooled 911, this Carrera is equipped with a 3.6 L flat-six Varioram engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Reportedly purchased new in 1997 at Inskip Porsche of Rhode Island at a cost of $72k, this 993 is said to have been acquired by its second and current owner in 2018. A truly well-preserved example, this 993 is now being offered for auction by its seller in Rhode Island with just over 37,500 miles showing on the odometer.
Noted to have been garage-kept throughout its lifetime, the Black paint on this 993 is described by the seller to be entirely original and in excellent condition except for some minor chips on the hood. A paint correction was also performed in 2019 along with a Kenzo ceramic coating treatment (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX). The black power-operated cabriolet top is said to have been previously rebuilt with new transmissions and cables, and this example retains its factory 17” Cup 2 wheels that feature colored center crests and Continental Extreme Contact tires.
The black leather interior is said to be in very good condition with the only noted flaw being some wear on the driver’s seat. The cabin remains highly original with its factory optioned aluminum instrument dials, power-operated seats, and Porsche CR210 radio. All gauges and accessories are said to be functioning properly.
An air-cooled 3.6 L flat-six Varioram engine produces 282 HP, which is fed to the rear wheels through a desirable 6-speed manual gearbox. An assortment of service records dating back to the original warranty period is said to be included, and the seller reports that a full service with new fluids and engine belts was recently performed.
This sale will include a current Rhode Island registration, a toolkit, and spare tire. For any discerning air-cooled aficionado in search of a 993, this beautifully presented Cabriolet makes an excellent choice.

@DJS911
Thank you for the kind words.

There are different stages of Paint Correction. Generally it includes 1 to 4 steps. This car received a 2 Step (compound and polish). Prior to that it was decontaminated to remove surface impurities and following the 2 steps it was sealed with Kenzo ceramic coating.
Google Paint Correction and you'll find several videos on the subject.

I was able to view this car over the weekend. It is an honest porsche that appears to have been very well maintained and taken care of over the years. The seller was a pleasure to speak with about this car, and we even got to see a couple other nice examples on property. This should make the next owner very happy!!

Correction regarding the part on order. It's the rubber fresh air duct, not the aluminum shroud
Good day PCAR bidders.
Please note that we have a fan shroud on order from Pelican and we'll install it prior to auction end.

@artichoke We'll check the prior service records but we don't believe that the SAI service has been done or is needed.
@QMSRI You actually don't feel any driving performance difference if the vent tubes are clogging up. Unfortunately, the first indication is the check engine light. Also more of a problem for gently driven 993's, and typically comes on in the 30-40k range. Of course I don't know how th car's been driven, but by now, someone should have performed a preventative cleaning of the vent ports. Any indication if this has ever been done?
@Artichoke
No CEL lights or other warnings. We have a great deal of experience with 993's and this one drives as well as any we've driven. Regarding the SAI service, the current low mileage and strong performance don't indicate it's needed.
Any check engine light issues? Have the engine air ports ever been cleaned?
