This 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Classic Grey leather interior and features a 6-speed manual transaxle paired with its 3.6-liter flat-six engine. The car was sold new in Southern California and is said to have been driven over 76k by the original owner within the first four years. It changed hands between four other owners in Florida and Georgia before eventually moving to the West Coast in 2012. Recently serviced and with approximately 150k miles showing on the odometer, this 993 is being offered for auction out of Washington.
This 993 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a grey power-operated convertible soft top. Equipment includes bi-xenon headlamps with washers, fog lights, power mirrors, a speed-activated rear spoiler, a raised “basket handle” brake light, dual exhaust outlets, Porsche-branded brake calipers, and 17” 996 Carrera wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller indicates new Continental ExtremeContact tires were installed upon their acquisition and the exterior remains in very good condition apart from some rock chips and scuffs on the underside of the front bumper. Additionally, the convertible top was replaced in 2021. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Classic Grey interior includes power-adjustable seats, power windows and door locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, and an aftermarket Pioneer stereo paired with upgraded Focal speakers. Some wear is noted on the driver’s seat and all gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.
Rated at 282 HP, the air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle. Service in 2021 included an oil change, brake fluid flush, fuel system cleaning, a new air filter, cabin filter, and door lock actuator(s). In 2024, the car also received new belts and a new battery.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a new tonneau cover, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is an amazing 993 for the enthusiast who wants a car they can drive and not worry about the miles. The engine was rebuilt earlier in its life and still feels fresh and strong - it doesn't smoke, and it pulls remarkably hard all the way to redline. The gearbox is tight, and the suspension feels very confidence-inspiring. You can tell from even a quick drive that this car has been properly cared for throughout its life and will provide years of enjoyment for its next owner.”

While we can’t provide absolute proof, the previous owner said that the engine rebuild (through a Porsche dealership) was $18,000. Again, I can’t provide a receipt but anecdotal evidence backs it up.

Thanks for the great last-minute excitement.
I’ve personally put several hundred miles on this car and can attest to it being one of the hardest pulling 993s I’ve ever driven. The gearbox is buttery smooth, the interior is virtually flawless, new tires, no cracks on the windshield. It’s a really great car.

Chain box and pulley seal leaking?? Or number 8 oring? Does steering wheel match interior? Driver seat ripped, anything else? Leak down numbers or compression numbers?
What a beautiful car! How is bidding not already higher for a 993, am I missing something?
Hey Guys- @artichoke @Roma @ProducerJohn
Thanks for your comments.
Regarding the nose being repainted, we took some paint meter readings that we will send in for upload and all checks out to us as original paint, that being said, I don't know that for sure.
As far as the check engine light issue, we have been driving this car a bunch under our ownership adding about 1,000 miles during the summer months and at no point have we experienced it. We have been told that the engine was rebuilt roughly 10,000 miles ago but unfortunately, the service records were in a safe that was stolen from the previous owner so we can't be completely sure. That being said, the engine doesn't smoke or leak and pulls super hard through the revs.
I agree that in the pictures there is a bit of Rubicon Gray in the dashboard but that is just the lighting.
The sticker is affixed to the underside of the hood - huge oversight us not getting a photo of that. We will try and get one of the guys at the shop to take a photo in the morning as the sales team has left for Monterey.
Also, the air conditioning blows pretty cold - obviously relative given it's an air cooled 911 - but it definitely works pretty well. The heat is also functional, although we haven't driven it when it was particularly cold so it hasn't really been put to the test.
Sorry for the delay with answering these questions. We have been running around getting ready to head out of town!
Is there a picture of the option code sticker under the hood? Also, does the HVAC and AC work?
Bid in the amount of $993
Per artichoke’s comment, can the Seller plz comment on the potential “check engine light” issues many of these cars may experience (Secondary Air Injection system airways plugged)? Were those passages regularly cleaned to prevent carbon build? Thx
Looks like the snoot has been repainted.
Any check engine light issues?
The dash looks like Rubicon Gray.
