Finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over a black partial leather interior, this 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera Cabriolet came factory equipped with optional Targa Design wheels, the Technic Package, and power-operated seats along with a Tiptronic S shiftable-automatic transmission. Recently serviced including new tires and a brake fluid flush, this Carrera is now being offered for auction out of Missouri showing just over 33k miles on the odometer.
This 993 sports a Cobalt Blue Metallic exterior with a black convertible roof and optional 17” Targa Design wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The optional Technic Package also equips Litronic bi-xenon headlights. New hood and decklid struts have been recently installed along with all new tires and the front bumper cover was refinished to address minor stone chips. One small blemish is noted on the left rear quarter panel, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black partial leather interior includes optional power front seats with adjustable lumbar support. Other options include a Porsche cabin wind deflector, cruise control, and a HiFi sound system with DSP with a 6-disc CD changer as part of the Technic Package. New floor mats have been fitted and the cabin is described to be in excellent condition apart from a minor imperfection on the passenger seat. The service booklet shows the odometer was previously repaired.
An air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 282 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission which can also be shifted manually using the buttons mounted on the steering wheel. Recent service highlights include a 100-point inspection as well as oil and brake fluid flushes.
This sale will include a clean title.

@Captbillturbo - what was the auction site where the red mint 993 sold recently ? Thx
@Captbillturbo excellent! minor chips that have been properly touched up.
How would seller rate condition of hood paint. Rock chips?
@Jczz74 Climate controlled garage. Paint, interior, top on the car is exceptional, inspection listed in this listing shows condition mechanically as excellent.
If car was stored for 6 years, what was condition? Conditioned or exterior atmosphere please. Thanks
@Captbillturbo My reserve is less (:
@Captbillturbo I think condition and the cobalt blue are what makes this car special.
@Dino356987 49k regularly driven.
@Captbillturbo How many miles
Bid in the amount of $42,000
Beautiful red ‘97 low mileage cab with Concours award no issues and 6 SPEED MANUAL sold at auction yesterday for $65k. How will the Tiptronic measure up?
@Jczz74 if your not comfortable don't bid.
Bid in the amount of $40,000
What are other sources? Car seat for 6 years, 100 point checkup and now an oil leaked repaired. How can I as a bidder no what I am bidding on?
Bid in the amount of $37,993
@Ram3k Carfax remains as accurate mileage, according to the sources I've checked with that the car is NOT TMU. Hope this helps.
@Dino356987 - appreciate the prompt response, thank you. Don’t get me wrong, the car looks like a nice example, which is why i wrote “i was and remain interested in bidding.” But i think the bidding community deserves to know what the situation is - is it 33k miles, or TMU. I do not believe a 33k mile car and a TMU car have the same value - but i am new to Porsches and buying via online auctions, so i could be mistaken. Thx again, and, for the avoidance of doubt, I remain interested, just trying to figure out what is being offered.
The car shows amazing. I have sold over 100, 993 Porsche in my 30 years of business and many have had odometer repairs, its nature of these cars. the car has sat for several years and I spent a month going through the car, new tires service detail etc. now we hare having the steering rack replaced because it stated leaking.
This is a $60,000-70,000 car, not a $600,000 car. if you are looking for an excellent example to drive and enjoy this is it, if you are looking for a collector car probably not.
Given the seller’s comment that the car should be considered “TMU”, I wonder if PCar should step in to try to clarify the situation ?
Are potential bidders supposed to assume it’s a 33k mile car, or a “TMU” car ?
And, if it is determined to be “TMU”, should those bidders who submitted bids be allowed to withdraw their offers ?
I was and remain interested in bidding - I’m just not sure what I’m bidding on.
Bid in the amount of $34,000
@Jczz74 I am selling the car on consignment and have ask my consigner for an explanation, as of yet he has not answered me.
He has resonated sellers remorse in a couple previous calls.
I am assuming as many of you that the odometer has been broken for a while and we may need to call it a TMU unit.
@Dino356987 The Porsche sheets from this car lists code 393 17" Targa wheels.
The wheels mounted on this cobalt blue 993 cabriolet are 18" Sport Classic II-wheels.
If originally fitted to a 993, these 18" Sport Classic II-wheels were listed as Porsche Exclusive option code "XRB" on the original build stickers.
In fairness to the seller the Carfax shows a little over 100 miles traveled between 2013 and 2019???? Think that deserves an explanation!
@Jczz74 The odometer circuit board was repaired by Porsche dealer in fall of 2020, fully documented.
@Captbillturbo It was nice visiting with you today, as discussed these are the original factory wheels for the car. Porsche option decoder is listed in the listing.
With the gap in time and mileage as well as speedometer repair, imo this vehicle should be described as TMU, imo!
Just a clarification. Are the wheels original to the car as shown on the build sheet?

Porsche factory options have just been added to the bottom of the photos.
When the car was serviced a few days ago the serving company performed a 100 point inspection that you will find along with the other documents, noted car is in excellent condition, also provided in the sale are extensive service records.

@tds993 it is Cobalt blue. will add Vin analytics sheet shortly.
@britco4 lift was purchased in 1999 when I build the building, don't think they make them any more.
I wish mine was that color. A Beauty. GLWTA... Anyone know the mfgr of the red lift in the pics... ?
Bid in the amount of $19,993
I don't believe cobalt blue was an option in the 993's. Could this be Iris blue? A pic of the frunk underhood sticker would answer that.
Beautiful car! GLWA. FYI those are Sport Classic II wheels, not the Targa design.
