The Land Rover Defender 90 NAS (North American Specification) is a highly sought-after model that was produced in limited quantities specifically for the U.S. market. This 1997 example has undergone a comprehensive restoration and is refinished in black over a customized black leather interior. It is powered by a 6.0-liter LS1 V8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and rebuilt differentials. It also features a custom center console and Puma dashboard, Kahn Design race seats, Mercedes-sourced carpeting and soundproofing, an air conditioning system, power windows and locks, LED lighting, upgraded suspension, and much more. This meticulously restored Defender is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
During its extensive refurbishment, the aluminum body panels were refinished in black, complemented by black wheel arch flares. All NAS models originally came with a factory roll cage. It has an Exmoor black soft top, LED lighting, a front nudge bar, side running boards, a rear Puma-style bumper, check-plate guards on the front bonnet sides, and rocker panels. It rides on black-finished custom wheels wrapped in 33×12.50″ Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires. There is a spare tire mounted on a swing-out rear carrier, protected by a Defender-branded cover. The interior is appointed with black leather upholstery, including Kahn Design front race seats, rear matching bench seats, and replacement door panels. It boasts a customized center console and Puma dashboard trimmed in black leather, a Kahn-style steering wheel, custom gauge instrumentation, and Mercedes-sourced carpeting and soundproofing. Features include an air conditioning system, power windows and locks, push-button ignition, an Alpine stereo with multiple aftermarket speakers, a subwoofer box, and a rearview camera. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be in proper working order, with no warning lights illuminated.
Beneath the bonnet, a 6.0-liter LS1 V8 engine has been paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, a two-speed transfer case, and rebuilt differentials. Performance enhancements include an aftermarket exhaust system and an upgraded suspension with Old Man Emu shocks, along with replacement axles, coil springs, bushings, tie-rods, front radius arms, and rear trailing arms. Additionally, the front and rear brakes, lines, and hoses were replaced during the refurbishment. Disc brakes facilitate stopping power to all four corners.

@emerge949 thanks for the question. The car is not currently registered in CA however it CAN be registered in CA as it last passed smog at the end of 2021.
