In 1997, Mitsubishi introduced the Pajero Evolution, aimed at Dakar Rally homologation. Built upon the short-wheelbase model, it received enhancements like wheel arch flares, independent suspension all around, improved steering, and a more potent engine to meet rally standards. Its success was evident when it secured the top four positions in the 1998 Dakar event. Among the 2,500 street-legal Evolution variants produced, this 1998 example is finished in Mitsubishi Silver Metallic over a black/grey cloth interior and boasts front and rear Torsen limited-slip differentials, a locking center differential, skid plates, and an Evolution-specific body kit. It's upgraded with 17” Black Rhino wheels, Ralliart mud flaps, a Recaro SP3 low mount driver's seat, a Lancer Evolution VIII MOMO steering wheel, and an aftermarket head unit featuring Apple CarPlay compatibility. Showing approximately 136k kilometers (~85k miles) on the odometer, this Pajero is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Arizona.
Finished in Mitsubishi Silver Metallic (A69), this Pajero is equipped with 17” Black Rhino wheels and showcases distinctive features, including a specialized front bumper with dual fog lights, flared fenders with front cooling ducts, a fender-mounted left side mirror, dual hood scoops, aftermarket side steps, a roof spoiler, black Evolution badging, door window air deflectors, auxiliary reverse light, and Ralliart mud flaps. The seller notes minor rock chips on the exterior and a light scuff on the left corner of the rear bumper, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The right-hand-drive cabin features a low-mounted Recaro SP3 driver bucket seat, a Lancer Evolution VIII MOMO steering wheel, aftermarket door panel upholstery, and Ralliart pedal covers. Amenities include air conditioning, carpeted floor mats, an information display on the dashboard, and an aftermarket head unit with Apple CarPlay capabilities. The seller notes some scratches on the interior plastic, but all gauges and electronics are in working order.
Power is derived from a 3.5-liter V6, delivering up to 276 horsepower and 257 lb-ft of torque to the rear or all four wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission and a 2-speed transfer case. The seller reports maintenance was performed on the vehicle in December 2022, including the replacement of filters, spark plugs, belts, and engine oil, along with the installation of a new battery.
This sale will include two keys, a toolkit, a bill of sale, and a Vermont registration.

starts, runs, and drives perfect. I don’t think I will have time to get home and give you a start up and rev video but there is a video of it running here on the website. There are no issues with Travi ability.
There is a walk around video posted here

I know one of the outer CB boot covers has a 1 inch tear in it on the driver side. That is the only mechanical issue that I am aware of that needs to be addressed
First time user of site, that was supposed to be a bid…. Sorry.

I realize we are close to auction end, but could we get a video with start up, idle, and few revs?
Does the car have any leaks or any mechanical items that will need attention either soon or in the later future?
Bid in the amount of $7,772
No, I have not repainted it. Paint is original as I got it from the previous owner and he told me it was original paint.
Bid in the amount of $7,500
Has it been repainted?
agreed! It certainly turns heads everywhere it goes and every time I go to the gas station or the grocery store there’s people standing all around it! It dominates cars and coffee for sure! Ha ha
Doesn't look like this one is getting the attention and love it deserves. Keep in mind that out of the 2693 Pajero Evolutions produced only 1082 came in Silver/Automatic making this vehicle exceptionally rare. Even at $30k you just won't find a car with this kind of rarity, race pedigree, performance, and head-turning ability. Get one while you can because in a few years there won't be any for less than $50k.

Thank you for your prompt response. Will be paying close attention.
Arizona does not require bill of sale but one can be provided for you. No problem. Vehicle comes with two original keys, clean, clear Arizona title, notarized and ready for new owner.
I do not have the original wheels. Yes it comes with two original keys. And yes it has an Arizona title. Notarized and ready for new owner!
Also, do you have original wheels?
When reading the ad, 2 keys, BOS and registration…. Assuming no current title?

it is 50 state legal, so yes it would be legal in California. It wughs 1970 kilos. (4300lbs.)
Two questions: what is the approximate weight of the car and would it pass smog in CA?
Yes. It is very common to replace the drivers seat in the Pajero for a lower rally inspired seat. I do not have the original seat. I bought it with the upgraded Recaro already installed. It is Very comfortable and has all the factory adjustments for customization to fit different drivers.. Thx for the inquiry!
Can I assume the drivers seat was an aftermarket replacement, or are they supposed to be different in this model? Looks very cool...sorta stands like the original Montero's before Mitsubishi ruined them for the US market.
As a previous owner of one of these awesome machines, I can genuinely say you will absolutely love owning one. There is nothing quite like seeing and Evolution Pajero on the road and everybody notices it. The tail spoiler is like something off the batmobile!
Top tip - don't step on the side sills/running boards to get in - they are just plastic and are not really meant to take your body weight.
Last of all, if the new owner needs a rare Ralli-Art sign to display in the garage to go along with your new pride and joy, please head on over to the PCarmarket deal tank!
Great machine indeed!!!
All the very best seller.
I do not have pictures of the undercarriage, but I can take some and send them to you. It is not a rust bucket if that’s what you’re asking! Ha ha I have owned it about six months purchase from the previous owner, who imported it about two years ago.
Any pics of the frame, driveline, and general underbody components? How long have you owned?
Super rad Pajero Evo!
