This left-hand drive 1997 Land Rover Defender 130 underwent refurbishment in 2021 before being acquired by the seller and imported from Brazil to the US in September 2023. It is powered by a 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four engine mated to an R380 5-speed manual transmission with a dual-range transfer case and central differential locker. Finished in matte blue with gloss black accents over a black vinyl upholstery, it features an air intake snorkel, fender-mounted shovel and axe, a toolbox, LED headlights, 16″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a touchscreen display, and a center console with cup holders. This Defender Hi-Cap pickup is now being offered for auction by its seller out of South Carolina.
Under previous ownership, this Defender underwent refurbishment in 2021, where it was disassembled and repainted in matte blue with gloss black accents on the roof, hood, and door hinges, along with necessary rust repairs. Notable features include a mounted shovel and axe on the fenders, an air intake snorkel, a checker-plate toolbox, a sliding rear window, LED headlights, and black wheel-arch flares. It sits on black-finished 16″ wheels with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires, and a full-size spare is included in the bed. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report dating from October 2023, which indicates exemption of mileage reporting and no accidents during the specified timeframe.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a split rear bench upholstered in black vinyl, complemented by color-coordinated rubber floor coverings and gray door panels. Amenities include an aftermarket head unit, a heater, hand-crank windows, and a center console with built-in cup holders. The air conditioning system was disconnected by the previous owner, although many components remain intact such as the condenser, compressor, blower, and vents. The driver's side includes a three-spoke steering wheel, supplementary gauges, and a dashboard-mounted GReddy turbo pressure gauge, while a configurable Defi-Link Meter display is positioned in the center. Currently, no warning lights are illuminated.
The 2.5-liter 300Tdi turbodiesel inline-four engine features blue replacement cooling hoses, which were installed in July 2023. During this period, additional maintenance included replacing the cylinder head gasket, water pump, and thermostat valve, along with coolant flushing. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 5-speed R380 manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case with a locking center differential. Braking power is facilitated by power-assisted four-wheel discs. Under current ownership, a cooling system overhaul was also conducted in July 2023, encompassing new hoses, water pump, thermostat valve, coolant, and head gasket replacement, alongside an engine oil and filter replacement. Furthermore, the starter was replaced with an OEM Bosch unit in February 2024.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a spare tire, and a clean title.

@Oddestball , I'm not sure about California registration. As far as I know, pre-1998 diesel trucks do not need smog inspections. But I also heard about Defender owner's having problems getting titles there. This truck has a clean South Carolina title. Tks
California smog legal?
