In 1997, Chevrolet introduced the fifth generation Corvette (C5) which was completely redesigned from the ground up featuring a new LS1 V8 engine, true independent rear suspension, and a rear-mounted transmission that provided ideal 50/50 weight distribution. This launch-year example is one of 381 to have come finished in Light Carmine Red Metallic for the model year and has been cared for by only one owner since new. Showing approximately 31k miles on the odometer, this Corvette is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
The C5 Corvette uses a hydroformed box frame which offers improved structural rigidity over its predecessors. The lightweight fiberglass bodywork includes a removable roof panel, flip-up dual halogen headlamps, a framed glass rear hatch, dual stainless-steel tailpipes, and power-adjustable heated mirrors. This example comes finished in Light Carmine Red Metallic and features a translucent removable roof panel and original 17”/18” 5-spoke wheels dressed in Goodyear Eagle F1 tires showing production date codes from 2006 and 2007. The exterior is described to be well preserved with minimal cosmetic imperfections including a light scratch on the upper rear quarter panel. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior includes power-adjustable seats in black leather with matching door panels and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Accessories include power windows and door locks, air conditioning, a heated rear window, an anti-theft system, an electronic driver information center, and a Delco cassette stereo with Bose speakers. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully function.
Up to 345 HP comes from a naturally aspirated 5.7L LS1 V8 engine that drives the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Performance features include power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, speed-sensitive variable assist power steering, and fully independent suspension with transverse fiberglass leaf springs and forged aluminum A-arms. The CARFAX report shows 5 service history records and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.
This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, two keys, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Carmine Red was only available for 2 years on the C5 and is a very desirable color. This one-owner unmodified example is a great value and will bring much enjoyment to its new caretaker. Local inspections welcome and encouraged prior to bidding.”
