Now available for auction is this 1997 BMW E36/7 Z3 2.8 Roadster, finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Black extended leather interior. Drawing inspiration from the legendary BMW 507 Roadster and the BMW Z1, the Z3 became an instant success after its debut in the 1995 James Bond film, Goldeneye. This 1997 example features the larger M52 6-cylinder engine paired with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission. A true one-owner car accompanied by a collection of records and original accessories, this outstanding Z3 is now being offered by its seller out of Illinois with just over 19k miles showing on the odometer.
This Z3 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic (309) with a black convertible soft top. A few very minor chips are noted on the front hood and the front bumper is said to have been previously refinished to address some road-going wear, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. The Z3 follows the characteristic traits of a BMW roadster, a long hood, short overhangs, and a seating position almost directly above the rear axle. The larger kidney grills, side fender vents, and fender-mounted roundels pay homage to the BMW 507. The 2.8 model can be distinguished from other Z3s by its larger rear track, more aggressive front fascia, and dual exhaust tips. This Z3 was ordered with 17” BMW Style 18 wheels, which are currently dressed in Continental DWS Extreme Contact tires showing date codes from 2014.
The cabin features black leather upholstery and wood grain trim throughout the center console. Some minor wear is noted on the seats and dashboard. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, power seats, and power windows. This Z3 was ordered with a considerable list of optional features including heated seats and mirrors, an onboard trip computer, a Harmon Kardon sound system, and extended leather, which adds leather upholstery to the dashboard, upper door panels, and center console. The chrome interior trim option also equips chrome rings around the gauges as well as a chrome finish to the door lock pins, door release levers, and the headlight pull knob. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly.
This Z3 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.8L inline 6-cylinder engine that produces up to 189 HP and 203 lb.-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. The front and rear shock absorbers were replaced less than 1k miles ago, and a new rear window was fitted in 2010. This E36/7 is reported to be up to date on all routine maintenance, and detailed service records are said to be available dating from new up until 2015.

@Scolar827 Thanks! With the Carfax: Being it was in 2001 and at an inspection I can only guess it was someone accidently putting an extra zero instead of 4000.
